Allure Eau de Parfum by Chanel is a Amber Vanilla fragrance for women. Allure Eau de Parfum was launched in 1999. The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Polge.

Chanel describes Allure as: "Difficult to define, impossible to resist. Clean and sheer, warm and sexy, ALLURE is a floral, fresh Amber fragrance that finds an expression unique to each woman. Because every woman has her own special allure." And on the composition : "Sparkling notes of Mandarin combine with the softness of May Rose and the sensuality of Vanilla. The Eau de Parfum — closest in strength and character to the Parfum form — features an intoxicating Passion Fruit note with a Peony accord and a warmer Amber facet."

Everything what you can expect to smell like a classy, independent woman.

Raindrop 9012

A soft sophisticated yet sexy womanly scent.Such an easy perfume to wear!

The Scentimentalist

My favorite Chanel hands down. This was pretty much all I wanted to wear all winter. It makes me feel comfortable and confident.

My old faithful, my lucky girl. For years this was my superstitious must. To me, Chanel fragrances just smell like classy pretty girl perfumes, no discernible notes, just a long lasting pleasant aura. But Allure will always be #1.

Hifza

Sophistication and elegance, luxury and class! It is what the name says and clearly defines the exclusiveness and maturity of this scent. As it dries down, it gets more pleasant and beautiful. It's worthy of the expense, and I am clearly obsessed with it but I use it in a minimal amount daily just to save it more for special occasions and events!

AnlisaC

I’ve had this in my collection since the day it came out in the late 90’s. It is a very sophicated scent in the Chanel way! I loved it in my 20 and love it now in my 60’s. I will always have this in my collections. Like others below, I prefer this to Coco Mademoiselle (which I sold not to long ago).

I love the citrus vanilla scent on my skin and it lasts forever over 10+ hours. I recently found out that I love a peach note in a fragrance and that’s what makes this a fruity twist to me. Such a beautiful scent and sillage is amazing. Wore this to dinner the other night and got a lot of compliments! Chanel, please keep this in your collection (actually Chanel doesn’t discontinued as fast as some of the other designer brands)
Highly recommended 10/10

I mentioned in a review about Coco Mademoiselle that I had it along with Allure earlier in my career life to smell classy and expensive.

I liked Allure so much that I also got the hair mist and pairing it with the perfume made me smell like a dream (as long as I don't overspray since the lasting power on me was 10+ hours with good projection)

I parted ways with Coco Mademoiselle since my nose now started to hate patchouli but I might give allure another go in the future.

Very nostalgic!

Saveria

A very beautiful powdery oriental, very chic, very Chanel.

It has a very good staying power and a very good sillage. It's a "strong" fragrance for people who aren't afraid to fill the room with perfume.

What I immediately sense is the very powdery side, then a citrus note (visibly mandarin from the ingredients and perhaps the peach mixed in), the slightly vanilla side and then the woody one. There is a slight smell of flowers but - to my nose - that's not what comes first.

A very pleasant and elegant fragrance. My favorite from Chanel.

Gigigood

So elegant, so beautiful, so cosy! Feel like I've got my sh!t together when I wear this perfume, but in gracious and elegant way. The gentle boss.
I'm 26 and I adore it, seems signature worthy to me so idk why any yall think it smells old.

Florally, vanilla beauty not too sweet just right.
A MASTERPIECE!

With all due respect, the Allure line is a masterpiece from the house of Chanel.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
After all, chemistry is everything with perfume. But for the love of god, I can’t read reviews that describe this like it’s a gourmand scent or (even worse) a grandma scent.
Coco Chanel is twisting in her grave and rolling her eyes.
Allure EDP came a few years after the EDT which is the original from the 90s. People who know this scent from back then will tell you it has changed. Yes it has, like most Chanels these days. They’ve lost a bit of character, (a lot of) performance, maybe even quality. BUT they remain, undeniably, classy and timeless in a world where sweet and loud scents prevail.
Allure Eau de Parfum is very close to the original but here you’ll find a warmer, deeper and a little sweeter scent. Perfect for the colder months! A “fuzzy”, hazy peachy scent (peach is the protagonist here) with a more intense woody element (cedar). Vanilla rounds everything up, making the original scent softer, smoother…
I’ve wrote this in my review for the Eau de Toilette, as well, that I own and love…the Allure line is for anyone who feels like a woman! Do you feel like a woman? Does this blend well with your chemistry and your personal style? You’ll turn heads wherever you go, people will ask what you’re wearing. I tested and really like the EDP but for now I’ll be sticking to the original that is a love affair for me and feels more “personal” as it’s intertwined with memories and places.

Danimcc90

I far prefer this to Mademoiselle. Classy fragrance for a woman not a girl.

rachelv

This was my favourite scent which I wore often in the 90s and the millenium. On me, it never turns sour, but stays lightly sweet smelling floral but not in a gourmand way. Lasts a while on me as well. I suppose it really depends on the individual. Some people say the scent comes out different on them. Back then when it first came out in 1999, I remember it was marketed as a scent that "adjusts to the individual's skin chemistry" - as if no other perfumes did that 😉

darkbeauty

Opening:
Citrus zest with a bit of pith

Middle:
Orange marmalade
Orange and peach slices in syrup
Orange creamsicle
Warm Peach Cobbler topped with buttery brown sugar crumble, orange zest for garnish, with a dollop of whipped cream and or vanilla ice cream.

Drydown:
Brown sugar, Butter, powdery Marzipan, and Vanilla Cream

You might be sitting in your garden while in peak bloom while enjoying the above with the most prominent of flowers surrounding you being magnolia and Jasmine with their fragrance floating around you in the breeze. Reminds me of the magnolias around my home in spring.

I understand there is no honey note listed but this is what develops on my skin. I believe it’s the magnolia which is giving me that wildflower powdery-sweet honey accord.

The dry down is yummy, buttery, and woody with a gentle touch of powdery marzipan. And at the very end reminds me of the brown sugar crumble topping on the peach cobbler I mentioned above.

These are the things that come to mind while wearing Allure. It’s definitely a VERY “Floral Gourmand” ON ME PERSONALLY. Sensuous and edible at the same time.

Apparently, some reviewers have a fit and become sanctimonious when you mention a gourmand aspect that comes through for some of us based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE and ONE’S OWN SKIN CHEMISTRY. But I digress….

If you love the smell of honey, magnolias, and perhaps sweet mandarin oranges, or orange blossom /wildflower honey, stewed peaches, peach slices in syrup, vanilla ice cream, or butter and brown sugar then you won’t be disappointed.

And if you happened to like Guerlain L’Instant for its magnolia, orange, and honey vanilla notes, you will also enjoy this. And vice versa.

Another perfume I find in the same family is Elie Saab le Parfum L’Eau Couture for its floral marizipan and orange blossom confection.

Also, I’m not a big fan of Chanel fragrances, however, this one is a win for me. And that is saying a lot!

*** My review is for the EDP***

Cephaelis

I absolutely like the smell. Elegant, decent, luxurious. What I do not like at all is that it does not last. I cannot even smell it on myself nor did I recieve a single compliment over a couple of months. For this price I expected way more than a perfume that is barely noticeable.

pinksea

I have a bottle of EDP purchased from Chanel's website in 2021. At the time, their description of the fragrance on the website did not mention peach, but did list passionfruit. Checking their website again today, it now says 'orange, May rose, and vanilla'.

I definitely feel there is an orange-passionfruit-vanilla combo in this, and it is more reminiscent of the peach-vanilla in the older Burberry feminine fragrance (1995), than the peach-vanilla in D&G The One EDP. I agree with prior '90s vibe' comments.

The fruits and jasmine are very sparkly on top. The center is warm fruity-florals, not rose-centric. It smells very classy to me, though some would certainly describe it as 'perfumey'. I find it most balanced in cool weather and with a lighter application.

In my batch (6501), there is a beautiful and distinct sandalwood note in the late stages.

I have been wearing Allure since it first came out, it is definitely one of my signatures and I have bought bottle after bottle of it. To me it smells like no other fragrance I have ever smelled, and I would say almost always when I pick up a frag, eventually I smell another that is similar but I never have with Allure.

It is interesting that so many here get a peach note. On me, there is not even a hint of peach, or citrus. Or woods or powder. It’s difficult for me to describe the scent, because after wearing it for so long it is so familiar and it has sort of morphed into my memories—I picture scenes in my mind and emotions from those times rise up in me. I actually love the effect it has on me, but I suppose that is what any lifetime sig fragrance would do.

Back to the way it smells—focus—on me, it is very warm but not at all screechy. It’s cozy and soft, and sexy at once. Creamy. An effortless blend of vanilla and florals. Florals can be very tricky for my body chemistry, especially white florals, but I am able to gel with Allure’s makeup with no negative turns.

This is my autumn into winter frag. It’s a fuzzy sweater day, or NYE in a LBD. Allure is chic and classy. I like how I feel when I wear it, and I like the memories that flood when I smell it. It’s like an old, intimate friend with whom I’ve shared a lot of secrets that no one else knows.

In my opinion it isn’t a 90s time capsule, but quite timeless. No, it is not as strong as when it first came out, but that’s the way of the perfume world these days. I fragrance layer my EDP with the body lotion to make it last longer. I wish all perfumes had a matching body lotion….

After 20 years decided to buy Allure edp again. Such a desappointment, it is a shadow of what used to be. The lovely scent is there, but only for some minutes, not even an hour. We should not be fooled by the brands, they sell produts at a very high price and the quality is not there. I have many perfumes, some expensive and others not, and can tell that there are less expensive perfumes that perform better than this one. I love the smell, no doubt, but for this price they shoul give a better product.

cherryflavoredantacid

A gorgeously sophisticated yet sexy womanly scent. it's gorgeous. Not powdery at all. the citrus and peach notes only are noticeable to my nose upon first initial spray. After 5 minutes it fades away for the florals and wood to take center stage. It's gorgeous and sweet. however it sucks for staying power. After like 3 hours it went from a 10 to a 3 and it stayed around a 2 on my body all night. Even at it's most potent it's not strong at all. It's a delicate scent which is nice. It will not leave a trail. It's an intimate fragrance. And it didn't irritate my migraines so i think it's a nice perfume. But for the price, hell no. Get this one on sale, it's not worth the full price. That being said though it is a gorgeous scent.

jeanette123

I love CHANEL EDPs, but this one just is not for me. My skin is making a sour musk? Not good at all. I'm sure it's nice on some people, but not me. Anyone want an almost full bottle?

I am a little tech challenged, so patience is required.

selinacat

The daytime/summer scent to D&G The One (Original formulation) it's got that same beastly peach opening but with a more fresh citrus quality. They share that same creamy peach vanilla accord. If your chemistry is compatible, they both harmoniously drap you in a sensuous floral peach vanilla musk.

They aren't dupes at all, but belong in the same wardrobe. Allure has citrus and florals beautifully blended through but when I wear it, it sinks into my skin with the same compatibility as The One. I don't feel like I stand out or catch attention when I wear them, (don't care) I feel like I am in my own skin, smelling my absolute best. Peach, vanilla, orange blossom. Those seem to be my skin's signature scents.

Other "skinature" scents like this include: Cinema YSL, Armani Code for Women, Gucci Rush. All different, all harmonious.

Mona708

It’s a lovely scent; the peach is a juicy tart one not too different from the one in NRFHR EDP. The powdery and woody notes complement it well. Unfortunately, it gives me a nasty headache, so I don’t see myself buying it.

rojeen

super duper strong literally causes nausea sometimes

An old classic was always loved by many of us it has changed over time I still cherish this as so many wonderful memorable years are tied in to this beauty
Such an easy perfume to wear probably the best in this line
I never hesitate to spray this for what ever occasion because it’s always well received

awm0912

Very soft but pleasant smelling

Samanthaheer

I don’t smell the peach everyone is mentioning. I smell the jasmine (overwhelming), the rose and peony. Undertones of cedar and vanilla. Smells very powdery after about 30 minutes on the skin. I’ve applied this twice already today and each time it’s given me a headache.

rosetinteddream

I left a review recently and wanted to come back and let folks know that Soap and Glory’s “Peach Please” lotion is FANTASTIC to layer under this!!! I’ve moisturized with it and have used Allure EDP, Allure Homme, and Allure Sensuelle over it with absolutely divine results. Just wanted to throw that out there! I’ve really come to enjoy the peach note in all of the Allures that have it.

🥀

Lotte_Liese

I am most definitely allured. I'm on a roll with testing Chanel fragrances that I haven't given much thought to and Allure has made the cut.
Peaches, peaches, peaches, and vanilla... Peaches and rose, more peaches and lotus and a bit more vanilla. Never have I been more impressed with how the peach note can be beautified as I am with Allure.

AMH19

This was an unexpected love for me. I’ve never given much attention to the Allure line, but I was in Sephora last weekend testing some new fragrances and I decided to pick this up, out of the blue, and give it a try. I sprayed some on and after walking around for a couple of hours I had to go back and buy a bottle.

It’s absolutely beautiful. I’ve been wearing it nonstop since I picked it up. It’s warm and sensual, but not overwhelming. As other have mentioned, the peach and orange blend beautifully with the vanilla and the beautiful florals hang around in the background to tie everything together. This is one the best options from the house of Chanel, in my opinion.

Ferra_Verto

A fluffy & powdery cloud of peaches, oranges, vanilla, and white florals. Tapers off into a musky base, still feels powdery.
Love this in warm weather, but can be enjoyed all year round. Makes me nostalgic and giddy.
Lasts all day and projects strongly off the skin.

RhettB27

It’s funny smelling this today and picking up on the similar qualities between this Allure EdP for women and the original men’s Allure, they DEFINITELY compliment each other. It’s nice and does a possess a touch of a more androgynous nature to my nose as well. Smells a little dated with some classic facets that are smoothed out but I don’t think this is one that stands out much for me.

DiaAnna

New bottle , batch 8502 -> disaster ! This ain’t no Chanel Allure by any means ! This is a skin scent after one hour maybe two at max ! I can cry for buying it , I could’ve got myself something really good for this price . Allure used to be amazing some years ago but whatever they did to it destroyed everything it had . This is no way an Eau de Parfum .. forget about it . Dissatisfied and disappointed!

ShowMustGoOn

For some reason it reminds me of Samsara by Guerlain which I absolutely love! Perhaps similar notes and era/time period and that creamy accord is a lot like what they use in Guerlain. This was my aunt's favorite among many others from the 90s and early 2000s. I loved her dearly but she has been gone for years now. I always stay away from Chanel since most perfumes are a big turn off for me but this one is so pleasant that I am considering getting it for myself. It is beautiful, floral, yet creamy, yet a bit woody. Something about it is addictive. I do think it is a bit overpriced like most Chanels but maybe I will find it on sale from a reputable place. On my list to get next.

Icarel

Allure but amplified. It has all same qualities/ vibes as the OG, so I won't repeat what I wrote in my review of the OG, but in stronger doses so I dont overspray because SHE IS STRONG. Compared to the EDT, almost all of the ingredients listed above are enhanced, pushed to their limits, just enough to not get cloying, notably the peach, vanilla, mandarin and rose. Save it rather for the evening or cold temperatures and again IMO Allure EDP should be used sparingly. Personally I would use it for intimate occasions or something grand like a big big event, but not for every day. Still a masterpiece, but more special and therefore precious :)

Puuteri

I have Allure edt, a new one. This is very sweet, maybe even too sweet. Longevity is nearly eternal. I tested this yesterday on my skin and can still smell it after two showers. Somehow similar to L'Instant de Guerlain (I had it in the bee bottle) and Sira des Indes (Patou). Sira des Indes I love, this I just like. Strange that Chanel has a scent like this. I mean style, not quality. This is a quality fragrance for sure.

Brittbritt

This was my first test using any Chanel fragrance, expecting this to overhyped, but I've been branching out and I'm glad I did.

I actually really loved this for the first 10 minutes. Complex but understated. Sophisticated. Subtle. Zingy citrus, watery floral, definitely lemon, vanilla and magnolia come through the most on my skin.

But by 30 minutes it just smelled like magnolia, nothing else, and very faint at that.
By 2h only basic vanilla. Very faint.
Still lovely, but definitely not worth the price in my opinion.

gressssie

This is nice. It's a bit baby powdery at first but the dry down is nice and soft smelling. Not too over-powering.

mikajla

too citric and mature. better than mademoiselle though.

Rhageg

Just recently purchased this because a beautiful counter lady told me to try it instead of coco (which i might go back for actually) BUT I can’t believe i haven't come across it sooner. Its so under-hyped. Its the perfect clean feminine fragrance without being too sharp or soapy. For me I can’t smell so much peach. If its there then its very creamy like its been baked.
It has a powdery and sparkly snell at the same time. Its very professional but also cosy. Its quite literally multi faceted as described on Chanel’s website.
I can see this becoming my signature for sure. Its a perfect first chanel fragrance imo. Unless you are much younger then try mademoiselle. (I just find mademoiselle to be very fruity and floral with not much woody notes which i prefer.

tanoshi333

will it be weird if i say this is the only chanel fragrance that i like except the iconic no 5? its just so, nice, and nostalgic with the peach and jasmine. such an iconic 90s scent. my grandma has a vintage bottle from '99, and it just smells heavenly.

catcat42

This is the most boring peachy jasmine I have ever smelled. Edt is a little better with more citruses but I keep it as a bathroom fragrance and mostly for the soapy drydown I like.

European beauty lover

The new reformulation is a joke. It smells good but lasts for only 10 minutes. I have the EDP and pure perfume. They are diluted pale reminiscent of what was once a great fragrance. This apply to other Chanel fragrances. Do not waste your money. Buy vintage if you can.

EugeniaEliette

I already submitted a review on November 1922. I don’t know why is was deleted, maybe because it is not a positive review: It is loud and dated.

rosetinteddream

I stayed away from the Allure line as I had this idea that it wasn’t my thing. I sniffed many flankers of Allure Homme before deciding on Edition Blanche. Didn’t ever come to love it, and have given it to a friend. I did however acquire a vintage bottle of the OG Allure Homme and that’s what got me hooked. It’s the entire composition from the citrus, to the florals, the peach, the woods, the vanilla, the vetiver and coconut, the spice, the powder. It’s gorgeous! And such a shame it’s not well known. It made me wanna try the og Allure, what started it all.

I tried the EDT by acquiring a used bottle about 40% full online. I liked it but it seemed light and I couldn’t seem to get a full feel for it. I thought perhaps it was just boring and I wasn’t going to get much from it. I kept using it as I did notice an ambery-ness to it that I found quite…alluring. 🙄

I used it up, and I kept thinking about it. I decided to go for a used EDP that I actually received this evening. I GET IT NOW! It’s so so so LOVELY. I admittedly thought it was gonna be a basic b*tch perfume but it really isn’t. It doesn’t unfold like a traditional perfume, but it wasn’t designed to. And in that regard, I find it a breath of fresh air from most of my collection. It also just brings back so many memories from the last 90s. I keep seeing my town from that time as well as flashes of scenes from movies such as Scream, American Pie, and Cruel Intentions 😂 So maybe more a breath of…nostalgia.

You could call it dated but I don’t find it to be, or perhaps I’m forgiving as it has some familiarity to me and I also love Chanel fragrances.

Anywho, I do actually get the impression of all of the notes listed. Wafts of each note kinda comes and goes. But there’s an overall golden, honey drenched fruit, floral, vanilla (but not what I was expecting) vibe that I absolutely love. I have a 50 ml but I see a 100 ml in my future.

Seems to project decently and has a decent life span on the skin. Nothing insane but pretty good for the type of perfume.

Also, random. My mother died very recently and it’s allowed me to feel free to move somewhere new and away from everything I know. Something about this perfume has a type of inspirational spark that I’ve been feeling since wearing it. It reminds me of going on a vacation? Perhaps it’ll help me in my journey of figuring out my next destination to try new things in life 😊

All of the Chanel Allure & Chanel Allure Sensuelle EDT, EDP, & Parfum are still available for purchase on Chanel.com site. Just saying, for anyone who thought that they were discontinued. They are still available & Thank Goodness for those who enjoy them. Yay! & Happy New Year t you all!

JuanitaChristensen

I grew up with this scent! My mom would always wear this, and it just made her so much more elegant and regal. If I remember it correctly, it was a mix of floral and citrus.. And the jasmine was heavenly. I love the dry down-a powdery vanilla. One of my favorites, 100%!

LSAUG

Finally, some Chanel's that I actually like. Allure is what I would call effortless, somewhat casual (for Chanel) elegance. A signature worthy perfume, for a certain type of woman. It smells like the past but it still very wearable for today. Old world meets new. The citruses in here are fresh and newly ripe, not syrupy sweet. Crisp and precise. The peach is delicate but very noticeable. The floral blend of clean jasmine, soft peony and a very aquatic lotus are pitch perfect and pleasant. The vanilla here is exactly what I like in a vanilla floral just there to give depth and a touch of sweetness w/out dominating the composition. The vetiver and cedar are nice here giving a subtle boss lady attitude to a very classic citrus feminine floral. I can tell this is a high-quality perfume and a little would go a long way. Allure is a perfume that will take you from a day at the office to a cocktail party or meeting a date for drinks w/ ease and elegance.

Edit: I wasn't going to buy any of the Allure line and then I retested them again for my husband. He really enjoys them all. He likes the "cleanliness" of them which is something that all Chanel's have. I find it a little uptight, but I plan on wearing all 3 of these in the next few days and will make a decision. My husband wants me to own 1 of them. And they are nice, I can live w/ owning 1.

After reading all the reviews and try it at the mall, I bought it last week.
I do not know that the one I bought is reformulated or not, but it is more citrus, fresh and toward Chanel Coco mademoiselle vibe more than the mall one. It is citrus at the beginning, settle down after 1 hour then the floral come in but do not have much vanilla vibe as I expected.
Last on clean skin (I used after shower in the night) for 7-8 hours, but when I spray to work in the morning, it lasts around 4 hours which surprises me because of its weak performance.
When I tried this in the mall, it reminds me as my aunt's fav scent, more vanilla, more long lasting (~8hrs) than the one I bought last week.
The one I have smells really classic, but redundant if already have Chanel Coco mad. This one is less citrus than Chanel Coco mad, and do not make me cloying as CCM.
I am looking for it to become aging, especially the vanilla note, meanwhile I will enjoy other fragrances for this fall and winter.

ca$hm3re

This is just the smell of my mum for me, it is just her signature scent. For that reason I have sentimental attachment to this fragrance, but I do think it is very classy and timeless. I don’t feel like this could ever be out of style. I can’t take out a single note when smelling this as it’s very complex. It’s of course a beast performer with crazy silage longevity and projection. It is 100% signature scent worthy. I wouldn’t describe it as mature but it’s definitely a grown woman smell, although I think a classy woman of any age can pull this off. I can see a young 20 something wearing this too. Not for someone who doesn’t want to be smelt… it’s strong and powerful, but not overpowering if that what you’re into. Although I think you need confidence to wear this scent and not let the scent wear you. Would recommend though, definitely get this over the Chance Chanels, as you can get the same vibe of those for way cheaper. But this is unique to Chanel in my opinion. Still way overpriced though these days.

Lily Frag

Allure used to be my favourite perfume in my twenties, so I was very excited to revisit this again over a decade later.
I was extremely underwhelmed. It’s a shadow of its former self. Very watered down and much more zingy than I remember. The sexiness is gone. The smell, the longevity.. everything just went downhill.
It’s still a pleasant smell now but not worth the price.
Will definitely not repurchase.

Enrium

Allure is one of the few Chanel perfumes that I was unfamiliar with until very recently. No. 5 was my mom's Chanel scent of choice, while Cristalle and versions of Coco featured in aunts' bathroom cabinets. Chance was popular among college peers, and I discovered No. 19 as a young teenager. Testing the current version of Allure, this is a very generic but good quality floral-fruity. Peach, white florals and vanilla compete for top billing, resulting in a sweet, understated feminine scent.

Allure opens with sweet, juicy peach followed by a sweet orange accord. Orange blossom bridges the gap between the fruity notes and white floral heart. The white florals are indistinguishable aside from the initial orange blossom, just sweet and clean. A lovely fresh rose note emerges as the white florals subside. It becomes nicely powdery as time passes.

Vanilla keeps things sweet during the drydown. It fades to a musky, slightly woody skin scent after several hours, sweetly floral until the end. Initially light, it becomes soapy as it progresses. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

Discreet and generic, it resembles many other floral-fruities of its era - a perfume category I was never a huge fan of. Still, this is an easy reach for everyday use, being a light, elegant crowdpleaser. Competent, but ultimately dull in my opinion. Great name though. 3/5.

dyrdkk

Approachable elegance in a bottle. Peachy warm cozy, little powdery. I know this fragrance since maybe 10 years. During this time, I think it smells same. But I cant compare wtih the OG formula. But sure, it has been kept reformulated since 1999. After years I bougth it recently. I 'm happy with it. It performs very well.

Scents8ionalwoman

I have to respond to the comment vzant made. I feel the same way about Allure not smelling the same as I remember. I had the fragrance when it was new and it was very pretty with an amazing sillage. Today's Allure I don't recognize.

vzant

Strange but i think it is not the same perfume as when it was launched....or it is just me?

DahliaFragrance

This was way too sweet smelling for me. It smells like if peach gummy rings were blended with sunny D orange juice. I don’t quite see what is “alluring” about that, it is an orange colored fruit cocktail. If you really like fruity perfumes I think one spray wouldn’t hurt. And it definitely depends on body chemistry, cause I couldn’t stand it on me, I have slightly sweet body chemistry so I can’t do terribly sweet perfumes.

Cantrence

I love this perfume so much that is why its my signature perfume. All the notes are so well blended that on my skin it's neither too sweet too floral nor too citrusy. Its comforting and soft on my skin soft not necessarily weak but soft that isn't screechy on my nose. It works well in any occasion or in any weather and season. Sillage is great and it last a long time on me. Overall it's a staple in my collection and i will always have a bottle on allure edp.

I've heard it said by a few fellow Fragrantistas that when it comes to Chanel, it's often the case that they needs some time to sit undisturbed for quite some time, as in months. This gives a "fresh" bottle time to marinate, so to speak, deepening the perfume by allowing it time to bloom. It could be the power of suggestion, but I swear that my bottle - purchased a few years ago - has definitely improved with age.
My first impression was somewhat uninspiring. It's Chanel, the quality was there, but it wash too harsh in the begging and never really came all together as this fragrance was designed to do. Well today I sprayed some on and it is so gorgeous! Rich and smooth with the most delicious peach and vanilla anchored by cedar in a masterful way.
I came on here, and immediately upgraded it from Like to Love. I can't wait for the cooler fall weather. I know that then it will shine even more.

chimidoro

Today I went off Allure edp.
Whatever it is in there that's resinous, that's just turned me off once and for all.
When the effect is bubble bath, floral, sweet, fresh peach, it's all good. But when I drown in that subtly spiced ambery essence, I choke.
Sadly, I'm done.

WGG

The drydown on this is amazing - a musky, woody jasmine. This would suit an uber- professional lady who wants to stay approachable - like HR head in a large company. Pricey but worth it, with decent performance.

I envy those of you whose Chanel Allure EDP & EDT performs well in longevity, strength & sillage. Unfortunately, mine do not, & I am looking for additional fragrances & oils to boost performance. Well...Jessica Simpson's Fancy Love, has some blooming & billowing blossoming similarities in smell, sans the amber part! So for those of you longing to get Allure, save your money & get Fancy Love for way less & add some ambery vanilla or cedar oil, & there you have it! Ta Da! You're Welcome.

likesleet

okay this was nice actually. on the first spray i was ready to dismiss this as another "old chanel scent" but i could totally see this being worn by all ages. prominent bergamot with orange blossom, peach, and vanilla. smells like a spring walk.

agrijanti

If you want a vanilla-peach perfume that doesn't smell like milky VS body spray or kids bubblegum, this is it. It's a very grown up scent though. More suitable for office and occasions in cold AC powered rooms. It's a great one from chanel and it doesn't smell too generic that you can smell it on everyone.

Some may call it a winter fragrance, but amazingly it also does help mask sour skin smell from sweat due to hot weather. I wore this on boating trips and it helps cover that humid sweaty sea smell in the tropics.

Super longevity and moderate sillage. 3 sprays will last 12 hrs for office and commute without it being a nuisance to others around you.

lucia.victoria.cirstea

a slightly better version of Twin Azzaro. Imediately after i take my nose from it, it has a creamy smell that i dont like, the same smell that i didnt like about Azzaro Twin . The Sensuelle variant smells way better, but i can still smell the cream from the normal version, being covered. It's still there, but much more subtle. Sensuelle, smells way better in hot hot weather . Back a few years when i first smelled Sensuelle, it smelled quite different than this one i smelled today, i liked it better, but i kinda ignored it, because it was to expensive. Now i get it why The normal version is cheaper. I cannot smell the peach in it i swear, only the altered orange blossom, some vanilla, no citrus at all. To me Allure, smells kind of cheap really. At least on my skin. so, this is a No buy for me

Xtina19

Ohh Allure allure , absolutely stunning! It’s like a summer cocktail, you just wanna smell over and over. There’s lots of vanilla, quite unusual for Chanel ( not the sickening type) , magnolia and of course the main star is jasmine. Many people mentioned that they cannot smell any peach, that’s because is on the top notes, you get a hint of it at the very beginning but it doesn’t stay on.
I know this might sound crazy but I dared to layer this one with Narciso Rodriguez’s for her EDP (pink bottle) and omg I’m hooked.
I still have a bottle of the old formula, not vintage but early 2000s. Tried the new formulation, unfortunately it’s been watered down but not butchered. If used with body lotion and shower gel lasts a whole day or over.

Nocciola23

Delicious. It's refined and comforting vanilla without being a token vanilla scent. To me the jasmine is very present and the peach not so much.
It's sophisticated and warm, the scent envelops you like a cashmere sweater. This is a scent I've worn on and off again for years and I keep coming back

Sanrio

I do actually get a hint of Amber Romance from VS. I don't think that's an insult, that fragrance is quality despite the brand. I think if you grew up using Amber Romance as a teen, this is an excellent upgrade. Creamier, less sweet.

I get peach, vanilla, Nivea cream and amber. Creamy, sweet, classy, has that Chanel je nais se quois. It has a floral "quality" but I don't actually smell jasmine, rose or peony as listed in the note pyramid.

It lasts a long time and has medium projection. Great signature scent- won't offend anyone, unique, all season appropriate.

Sparkleball22

What a beautiful hug perfume. This is a smoldering warm fire on me. And a Powerhouse!!
I’ve never been so at home in a scent before this. It sort of clings and gives an aura of golden, plush comfort around me. People just love it.
I’ve actually seen eyes light up and they say what IS that? And lean in closer. I can’t say exactly what it is that stands out the most but vanilla, subtle florals, and soft woods dominate on me. It smells RICH.
I can’t pull out any citrus because to me it’s not bright, it’s smooth, deep, and soft. Lasts for 12 hours, sometimes more.
The vetiver and cedar are really grounding in this and I often can’t decide if it’s sexy or motherly, or what, but somehow it feels like me. Since I just discovered this in winter I don’t know if I’ll want to wear it in our hot summers… we will see? It seems cozy for cool weather. I could see this being a signature as I whittle down my collection. Allure for life, please.
Update: this doesn’t work for me in heat because it’s so warm! Reserved for cool months 💜

coffeefifofum

Test from a dabber rebottled by Microperfumes, so this is what was being sold in 2022 rather than a vintage formulation.

Bergamot dominates the opening and that gives the whole thing an aftershave scent. It's a bright but deep citrus. The dry down is soapy. Very limited projection.

Woollyworm

Peachy vanilla sweetness, beautifully blended floral notes, soft woods in the dry down. Longevity and sillage are very, very good. This is important to me. If I'm spending $100+ for a bottle of perfume, it needs to perform. That is one of the reasons I reject many pricey niche scents, but I digress.

To me, the good quality of the ingredients here are evident. It's a staple; I always have a bottle. This one is my easy choice, I reach for it often because it's so pretty and always appropriate. People around me and people in public also like it, which matters to me.

There are other fragrances which fit other needs and situations, but Allure is gorgeous and dependable as a day to day fragrance. I always feel confident in it, and I consider it to be well worth the money.

LinnieR

I mainly get the scents: peach, powdery and cedar. Very good sillage and a favorite of mine. Opposite to what some other reviewers here write (about it being outdated), I think it's both timeless, seductive and elegant. It's the kind of scent you can wear well at 20 as well as at 80, probably because of the mix of sparkling citrus and vanilla

brokesta911

Chanel Allure (1999) - peach rose - #jacquespolge starts the perfume with bright citruses, puffs of powder and furry stone fruit. I sense this perfume is a play of textures and contrasts which I enjoy. This transitions to a chanel-ade of florals: Rose, Jasmine and Iris with an introduction of lemony Magnolia. Drydown is a comforting yet simple base of Cedar, white musks and Vanilla.

melusina1982

I wore it exclusively for years, which is no small feat given my love for perfume.
It is a strong cedary peach concoction that settles to pure Nivea Creme on my skin.

tanny_ups

This perfume reminds me of My Burberry black. They smell very similar. Nice perfume. Very good sillage, but not my cup of tea

smellslikethousandroses

My favourite

Sonyakaroliinaq

A surprising christmas gift from my mother, but i absolutely adore it!
Just effortlessly beautiful, fresh citrus and flowers at the beginning, which turns in to a most lovely warm scent! I get a little bit powdery vanilla, peony and fruits but not like your typical fruity-floral 'cuz it's still kinda fresh and warm at the same time🤔

I definitely need to play more with this scent but so far so good👌🏽 The longevity is also great!

golbraykh

if i had to choose a single word to describe allure edp it would be “pleasant.” this fragrance is just pleasant to me, nothing to write home about— an airy, peachy, citrusy scent that sits close to the skin with moderate longevity. i also find it a bit too powdery for my liking. i do think that this fragrance can be worn for any occasion, from a first date to a casual grocery run, but it’s just not for me.

bashoori

One word. Beautiful. Fresh, elegant and I’m obsessed. I can notice the lovely peach mixed with citrus and vanilla, I adore this scent.

iksir

I always keep a bottle of this beauty in my collection. One of the first fragrances I fell deeply in love with. Timeless, seductive yet elegant. Was my signature for a long time.

FlowersinBloom

Allure EDP is one of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever worn. It has the same DNA as Coco ( the original not Mademoiselle).

The freshness in this comes from the sparkling 🍊 citrus in the opening. Then as it warms up on my skin I get sheer pink and white 💐 bouquet of flowers. Similar to Coco, the flowers have a soapy and powdery quality which gives Allure an elegant and luxurious edge. The woody vanilla base is very feminine and sexy. It’s the same bourbon vanilla from Coco. Nobody does vanilla like Chanel.

Allure is complex, elegant, luxurious, and sexy which is everything that I look for in a perfume. I’ll share a secret with you: I layer the Nivea Coconut and Monoi Oil Body lotion under my fragrances. It smells like very expensive suntan lotion. Then I spray Allure or Coco EDP on top which gives the flowers 🌸 🌺 🌹 and vanilla a tropical vibe. I get constant compliments on how good I smell- try it, it is absolute heaven!

It has great longevity as it lasts 12+ hours on my skin. Great sillage and projection.

DPrince01

It is different from your typical Chanel. However, this is what I would have expected a Chanel perfume to smell like if I had never previous tested anything else from the brand. It is very beige.

This is a scent of its own and you will not be able to distinguish specific notes, but I tend to like that in perfumes. If I could describe it, I would honestly say that it smells like a luxurious face cream in the best way possible. Like your skin but better. Very very pretty. Not complex. Has potential to be someone’s signature.

Longevity is okay and sillage is a little bit poor. To be honest that is what I would expect from a fragrance like this. It’s what I would consider a skin scent, but that’s only because I am a fan of strong perfumes.

Very safe purchase with regards to the actual scent. Shame that the price tag does not equal to it having better longevity and projection.

karinatfragrantica

Not a typical Chanel. Smells non-descript and a bit outdated. Not unpleasant but not for me.

VMonster

Likely the oldest fragrance in my collection, I'm so happy to still have this. I likely purchased this between 2006 and 2009. It was the perfume I wore when I met my husband, and he still recognizes it as my "first date" perfume. It was bought at a time where I had little money, was very young (21-24?I can't be sure). Allure reads as more of a "classic" fragrance, definitely mature but also sweet and sexy, with a sophisticated twist. I get a strong vetiver note--not usually my favorite--but plays nicely with the jasmine, rose, peach, and other notes. Allure is powdery, rosy, and vanilla, all of which I love. The powdery accord smells "makeupy" to my nose. This is a distinct scent that I reserve for occasions--not an everyday wear perfume but one with nostalgic vibes for me. Not a safe blind-buy, but test it if you have the chance.

Callista25

Peachy sugar floral. Very mainstream, conformist, nothing to complain about (because there is no discernable personality)-type of fragrance. Doesn't smell like Chanel to me.

Amich

Allure was my first fragrance love. It’s clean and intoxicating. It projects really well and longevity is great. It’s a head turner that’s signature scent worthy.

colabama

A very clean, refreshing scent. Thanks for the sample brandybasisty!

amandawilliamspalmer

@dashlue got it right. Today I layered Dior Addict with Allure - so beautiful. Heads turned on the street.

jakielius

Another perfume that sounded heavenly based on the notes, but wasn’t for me. I get the woody vanilla but the rest of the notes smelled very sharp, almost sour on me. Too cloying and overpowering. Sexy Amber by Michael Kors smells similar to this in my opinion and I had the same experience with that scent as well - just too sharp with an almost sour tang.

RainbowGirl

I love this fragrance. It is so classy and beautiful. It glides through my nasel passages in the most wonderful way, and it surrounds me in a rich scent aura. Sweet peach, vanilla, woody floral. So beautiful.

ayken

It is a timeless staple and brings out soft and warm memories in me- i have definitely smelt this on a more mature woman, yet I could easily see myself wearing this even at the age of 24. It is really nice and worth the price I dare say. My nose picks up the citrus notes and as well as vetiver and cedar, quite unisex of a fragrance in my humble opinion. 9/10

GinCatsBooks

Vanilla but not your typical cupcake vanilla, this is a grown-up Chanel Vanilla, a vanilla done right in my books.

Allure EdP was gifted to me a few Christmases ago by my grandmother who chose it out for me after sniffing a few other Chanels and concluded that this one was "me", so it has sentimental ties and I have to say, Nana did good!
Allure is a "my second skin" type scent, it never really smells the same on me from start to finish and it also always smells different on different people, its like wearing 3 different perfumes during the course of the day or evening.

The opening is a usual aldehyldic Chanel affair mixed with a fleshy, fuzzy peach, the peach settles down and a warm, citrus vanilla comes out and for the first 3 hours, thats what Allure smells like, later on some florals in the form of magnolia and jasmine come out, the cirtus dies down but the vanilla stays firmly planted for another few hours before mellowing out completely to a warm, vanillic cedar and vetiver on my skin. The reason I say Allure is like a second skin, is that after the inital operatic opening of peach and aldehydes, Allure vanishes for a few minutes before I start to really notice it again, it merges with my skin to be come a second skin and compliments I recieve on it are always along the lines of "you smell amazing" and "you smell yummy", never "your perfume smells great".

Longevity is amazing and I can wear this from early in the morning and right through until 10pm at night and still smell it on me so its perfect for cool days and when I know I have an event I need to go to later on in the day or if any last minute plans are made, I can also smell it still on me even after showering!
Silage is strong but not in the traditional "Woah someones overdone their perfume" way, if that makes any sense? its strong but not intrusive or cloying.
Office safe, definately a versatile scent that can be worn casually during the cooler months and can easily be dressed up and still feel classy, its a bit too much for the warmer months but without fail when the cooler months roll around, Allure comes out. Will forever repurchase this. Stunning

Stillmagnolia

Vanilla, fruity, sweet, and powdery notes in the bar graph would normally put me off. I usually only like my vanilla in edible form, def am not one for fruity, and have only a scant few fragrances from the 90’s.

But. That Chanel hand of blending…..

This isn’t my “I forget every other scent and want to wear this every day” fragrance. Often, my nose just needs something green or spicy, more heady. Some days, this just doesn’t strike me the right way.
But when it does, I can’t seem to get enough. This isn’t ice cream vanilla, but if it were, it’d be homemade with real cream and vanilla bean, full of favor and not sugar. Smooth and deep.
Or floriental ice cream with a bite of peach compote?
I dunno, these are not my notes.
I guess there is enough cedar, florals, and vetiver for me that the other stuff just sings in the chorus.

As others say, it’s just wonderfully balanced. If you’re like me and usually veer away from fruits and vanillas and powders, maybe this could be that combo that could work for you, too.

clairesque

Impression from a paper strip: Oh yeah this has the unmistakable Chanel DNA. I'm mostly getting the peach, vanilla, and white florals. It smells like an expensive lotion, but not in a bad way - I see this on a woman in her 30's or older who is classy, elegant, and really has her life put together. Which unfortunately is not me lol but I may revisit this one in some years. For now I do think Allure leans a touch too mature for me; peach is also a tricky note for me and I'm not sure I'd enjoy the peach in this.

Advaitaforever

My brother bought me this and I love it! A beautiful, slender, brunette ceo in the 90s, wearing a tailored, espresso-brown suit and stilettos. She has dark cherry lipstick and sallow cheeks, sweeped with mauve blush. Very feminine, refined and yet playful. Its gourmand but in Chanel character. So clean and appropriate with the beautiful clean patchouli. It’s warm and inviting, characteristically oriental and has excellent performance. The real beauty emerges in the ultimate dry down, where the subtle sweetness radiates in a dynamic and charming way with a sandalwood texture.

Murmur123123

In case it helps anyone who does not have access to a counter to try this perfume in person - Allure EDP (2021 formulation) on my skin smells like Dior Jadore EDP (2021 formulation) with the sweet fruity notes toned down by about 40%, and the floral notes toned up by about 20%.

Saffron

Saudade!
It is ripe peaches and flowers on a beautiful summer morning in France.
One of the coolest people on the planet gave me this as a birthday gift back when it was fairly new.
They were taken away from us and now this scent reminds me of their funeral. So, I don't wear it anymore.
I still miss you Ivor.

Vanlav11

I bought myself a fragrance for the summer! Everyone compliments me, I think this is exactly what I was looking for for this case! I only make one zilch because it is very sweet, does not work every day, and I only use it on weekends, too strong for work!

s0rbet

i have a sample of Allure edp and lemme tell you it was love at first sniff. it works so well with my body chemistry i honestly think we're made for each other lol. on my skin it's warm, sweet, cozy & creamy and can be worn all year round. it's not too floral, fruity or fresh, it's very balanced.
definitely my signature fragrance once purchased.

UnearthlyApothecary

I had a bottle of the Sensuelle version having never tried this, and I adored it but sadly they are nothing alike. A creamy peach floral with a slightly sour/strange citrus opening. After awhile it really takes on the vibe of an expensive face cream. I was hoping I would find more of my old Sensuelle in this scent. Its nice and has very good silage and longevity but there are other peachy vanillas I like more and I can’t imagine reaching for this very often.

alit

A classic luxurious soap-luscious - body-lotion scent. Your elegant, clean, all occasion appropriate perfume. You really can't go wrong with this, unless you really, really hate soapy scents.

carlahoffman

Another CoCo Love for me just adding more Chanel Love to my collection. The opening is alluring, hence the name, with a bright sexy orange mandarin/ bergamot twist which is yummy. Later the floral notes with a vanilla background lingers for hours which are so enticing.

What a lovely floral bouquet with a slight woody scent where the rose is prominent to my senses with the peony note too. It's all so beautiful making a sensual scent that has a lovely projection that last all day into the next morning, It's so warm and inviting to those around you, and men love it trust me.

Works great in the cooler weather making me look forward to trying in the warmer climate, Good to wear day or night while relaxing or going on a date, A new staple for my collection can't say enough on just how much I love this beautiful scent.

fragrances-fanatic

This is a beautiful and sexy fragrance and very well blended. There's a soapy note in it that I really enjoy as well. However, I'm shocked at how similar Benetton Hot is to this, at a mere fraction of the price! And I believe Hot came on the market before Allure. Allure may be slightly more nuanced than Hot, but still, it's a great dupe if you're on a budget. Highly recommend both!

Jody_ody_o

Let me preface by saying that my boyfriend is an avid collector, a "fraghead". I was not prior to meeting him. This was a birthday present from him and my first expensive (to me) perfume.

I am very selective in what I want in a scent. Not too juvenile, not too mature. Classy, sexy, timeless. I don't like really sweet, powdery, types of fragrances. I typically lean towards fresher clean scents. The only perfume in competition for my signature scent would be Delina by Parfums De Marly.

I really wanted a Chanel perfume. Because I really love Chanel. It's ironic for a reason. I tried No5 (Which tbh I hate. Yes, hate it. It's way too mature. I've tried several times.) The Pink Chance perfume was pleasant but not what I was looking for.

I first sampled this at Macy's. And in the opening, for about the first 20 minutes, I also disliked this perfume. It smelled too powdery. Too mature. And as I've mentioned, I dislike those attributes. HOWEVER. When people say you have to let a perfume live on your skin, mingle with you, they mean it. This perfume almost does a 180. It turns into a completely different perfume. Like literally. The powder disappears. And in it's place is this soft, gorgeous scent that I honestly couldn't stop smelling. The more I sniffed the more I wanted to.

I tried samples of it several times to make sure I wasn't crazy. I had others smell it on me as well, all agreeing. I really became obsessed with the smell. That's why my boyfriend bought it for me. And why it's my signature. It is so unique. The notes blend so perfectly that you can't quite ever put your finger on any of them while wearing it. I have never had a perfume "flip" like this one does. It's like 2 in 1. It smells refined. You can wear it anytime. The name does it justice, it is Alluring.

lmnsvgz

As long as it is still sold, this will probably be my signature scent when I get older. Chanel does an incredible job of blending the fragrance in a way that there is no one prominent note that comes forward. I smell peach, citrus, some sweetness all combined in a very attractive perfume reminiscent of elegant femininity. I imagine a beautiful, put-together woman in her 30s/40s wearing it.

lyka

CdeBXL

First time I encountered it, a demo lady in the "Innovation" (a type of Saks superstore, in Bxl) asked if she could spray this 'new hair mist' on my long hairs. I said sure, walked on, stepped out, and stepped back in to buy a bottle. I was smitten with the whiffs of whites and pinks and resins that gently wafted by as my hair moved besides, sometimes in, my face.

I now, decades later, still have long hairs (the ava photo is me), and always an EdP bottle + backup. And I really continue to enjoy the broad spectrum composition of this most alluring fragrance. The thrill for me is in the role of the pinks: rose, peony and lotus lift this to its unique place, not only in the Realm of Chanel, but also beyond.

And now I am wondering why I don't use the hair mist anymore, and will put it on my list tonight.

Olfactory_Jules

Ok so I get why people say Joy is similar to this one, but in my opinion, joy is way more powdery, which I do not appreciate. I have a batch from 2019 and 2013, and I must say the 2013 last longer and has better sillage. Usually I am really careful with vanilla in perfumes, because it has a tendency of making me feeling sick. In Allure everything is perfectly balanced. It is not overwhelming, yet not underwhelming. Sillage is great.
I feel it is great for every occasion.

EDIT 2022: Even though I thought I love it, I really don´t reach for this one. I realized it IS actually powdery and it gives me headaches. My fiancé do not like this one a lot, says it is kind of a "old lady" vibe. I will sell 2 of my 3 bottles.... Sad...

elledior

After two minutes this just smells like vitamin E cream and soap. Too soapy for me and doesn’t last. Really disappointed because I love Chanel fragrances.

jaguarundina

yes I started with Allure from 1999. the edt already was marvelous. I remember this new launch got a prevalent gift: a booklet (like Gabrielle, but much more substantial) , in which Jacques Polge explained how ingenuous the composition of this perfume was. it didn't followed a scent note pyramid but rather was a 'spectral perfume' with which all the notes at once came free. (like Gabrielle.) this specific feature makes it still mysterious to precisely detect the notes from each other. and it added, once again, at a new 'chanelissime', powdery of course, with rose and jasmin, with not: sandelwood but with cedar and vetiver lending the perfume a dry, solid base. especially peach and vanilla were inseparable. yet I clearly smell the rose whereas others seem to not detect so in the general voting. I remember the chicness this perfume bestowed upon us. now I am wearing it for a few days and the rememberance to that (beatifully concipiated) booklet came above. at night I smell my wrist and it is yes, an 'even' perfume with, if you keep smelling, a reveiling of coming and going ingredients. indeed it makes you think about Coco Mademoiselle. and the Allure Sensuelle added some 'Coconess' to this overall, classic perfume. I also see reminiscences with No 5. but in its own, I am wearing the edp now but also had the perfume. this 'lady' distincts itself for her timeless elegance and her ability to lend chanelissime to every woman.

flyergirl❤️perfumes

This is my 2nd review...Nice,elegant,classy but for a while ago tested at duty free again to give a proper decision;
If I want to buy warm vanilla scent probably it would be JPG classique again for winter..But this does not mean it’s not worth,it’s about my heavy perfume enthusiasm for ❄️ weather

Egaines23

I was so excited to get this but I’m pretty underwhelmed. It smells sour on my skin. It honestly smells like aftershave on me. I noticed others have mentioned it smells sour on them as well. I was hoping it’d smell warm and creamy. Definitely test this before you buy it. It might not work well with your skin.

Onsmupske

Soapy sweet citrussy body scent.

My signature scent for so long, because to me it fits any occasion and when a close friend of mine found out after years that this asn't my bodysmell, but a perfume, she was truly surprised. It was a very funny moment!! She thought I smelled genuinly good by myself. ;) It smells powdery without being too dry, it's sweet without being too much.

I would say this is a woodsy citrus peach, without being straight up peachy. The floral and other notes give it more depth. It's a unique perfume, it has a life of it's own, IF it fits your skin. If it fits; it blends in like it's your body scent and that's the most important detail to me when it comes to a signature scent.

Office scent: YES
I've never come acros someone that didn't like the smell on me and I live in The Netherlands where everybody can come o ver as 'blunt'. ;)

Longevity: (1-3 sprays usually)
On my skin it fades after a day or two. On my clothes it stays until I wash them. When I hugg a friends pet, they smell my perfume slightly, but only for two days. And I'm a big pet hugger.

Sillage:
A bit more than armlength, but it's not a penetrating scent. It's sneaky lingering that blends in very well to be part of a room without being too much noticed.

I don't find it outdated and don't like any other Chanel fragrances apart from Gabrielle maybe. I'm a 28y/o Dutch female and have been wearing this for almost 9 years now.

The boyfriend:
He thinks it smells soapy. :)

I did not expect to like this as much as I do, considering how dated others find it. There is something very '90s about this, as other reviewers have noted, something in the sweet-lactonic vanilla-peach combination. That said, I think this is a lovely creation, perfectly balanced between warmth and coolness, airy sweetness and woody florals, powder and cream, exuberance and reserve. The vibrant citruses, rose, and jasmine foreshadow Coco Mademoiselle, but here the body is more solid, more complex, the patchouli replaced with peach, woods, and vanilla. On the whole, it feels less cloying and "cleaner" than CM—not less charming, just differently charming. I agree that this can work year-round, and is slightly better during the day; it's almost too cheerful and awake for nighttime. The bottle is simple but beautifully designed. Now I'm eager to try the flankers!

Victoria Muschka

Simply elegant, feminine and a special scent for all seasons. It is softly clean with a kiss of magnolia and peach.

Bluebirdpsyche

Allure and I always had a flirtation going on. Would always swoon over the magazine samples, would spray her on whenever I passed by the Chanel counter, but for some reason I never took her home with me.... and then finally one day, I did.

And I have no idea why it took me so long. Allure is gorgeous. Does she smell like the 90’s to me? Yes, she does, but that’s a pro in my book. Granted, I’m biased, since I’m a woman who first came of age in the 90’s, and to me, everything about the 90’s had STYLE. MTV was a whole mood and music was a boon, from rap to alternative to house to grunge to r &b to pop....the movies ruled... the era even birthed “The Supermodel”, and here is Allure, an encapsulated essence of fragrance that so definitively smells of a generation, of the absolute coolness that was the 90s...

But Allure also retains within its structure, an aura of strength and timelessness, of pure feminity, and versatility. I’d wear Allure fresh out of the shower, T-shirt and sweats, hanging on my couch, to just as easily a business meeting, or out to dinner. Sophisticated, elegant, but unpretentious, she gives to me a sense of “joie de vivre”, seamless and flowing into me, a gentleness of sensual tranquility that comes with the self confidence of knowing, and being, myself.

Note wise, it’s difficult for me to pinpoint anything, I can only describe the feeling she evokes in me, blending harmoniously into my skin. Longevity is good, about 8+ hours. 🤍

MomGodess

This scent is the only Chanel that I find beautiful from top to toe. This is more young than Mademoiselle yet it is a monster in sillage and longevity.
Beautiful, fresh, elegant and feminine. Strong but a very good blend with your own chemistry. I love the scents that are not the same on paper and skin. This is definitely something that will be complete with your own alchemy.
However I miss a bit mystery. This would not be my signature scent and I am not going to wear it. It is that scent that is for too long around, too many people, situations come in my mind when I smell it. It could never be me, but I enjoy sniffing it and I appreciate the quality and the style.

LadyLicorice

I want to get this but has the peach note been replaced with passion fruit??
I checked the Chanel website and sadly seems its been reformulated

kkaattjjeess

I love this! There's a subtle sophistication about Allure EDP, it's not a heavy or loud perfume (which maybe has slightly surprised me). I used to have the EDT, and I remember that one having an enormous sillage, almost annoyingly strong projection and lasting power for days, I pretty much had to scrub it off myself basically.

This one seems more subtle and refined. Quite similar to the EDT, easy to tell they are siblings, not looking at the official notes, the major difference to me is EDT being quite citrusy, whereas EDP is similar but not that much citrus.

Very pleasant, I would say every day perfume (not that it's ordinary, but not loud or super unique). The only thing I dislike about this perfume is the price tag :D

Edit: I remember seeing some reviews that called this classic and slightly old fashioned (90's), I don't see any of that!

MsLittlejohn

I wanted to love this, I really did. I still do want to! It's just coming off as too dry on my skin? I'm not getting any layers, just a bunch of dry woody peach and vetiver. The vanilla is there, but it's an odd sickly sweet smell to my nose, not pleasing. Has a sharpness to it. I wonder if it's better in cold weather? I also wonder about the EDT and if that one may better suit me. I have a 50 ml up for trade, would love to get my hands on the EDT?

Vanillastorm40

Been getting into vintages lately and this smells so similar to Davidoff Good Life. Both are gorgeous!!

Naomie

I really love this scent, Dior Joy is very similar to this one but I like this so much more. The peach turns into a heaven on my skin, not to much not to little! Very soft and sensual, mysterious. Pretty all the way from start to finish. Would highly recommend it to any occasion but tbh I can vision a bride wearing this perfume on an Italian wedding with lots of fairy lights and olive trees 👌🏽👰🏼

WildDove

I too was late to the party for Allure. I get mostly amber, peach, and vanilla. Very rich and full fragrance with a snuggly and reassuring drydown that can last into the next morning. A favorite for autumn and winter.

mimahirn

I had such high hopes! It’s a like, not a love. I think the peach is problematic on my skin and it turns sour. I accidentally sprayed this on a jacket, and it smells lovely on the jacket. Peachy vanilla musk. So it must be my skin.

wallywinthrop

Really lovely - soft and subtle but mysterious and strong-willed. Slightly woody-powdery, warm aroma of rose, sweet peaches and velvety vanilla and lipstick -- comforting and musky and elegant.

Ronett

Does it smells like dune ? By christian dior ?

Catsylvania

I might be looking at what might be my next signature fragrance.

My first acquaintance with Allure EDP was through the EDT, and I can't say I liked the latter very much. Unfortunately the first impression got me rather biased against the EDP which, in turn, I at first dismissed as being way too sweet. However, for some reason I kept on returning to the whole Allure range to give it more spins and next thing I know, I find myself completely and utterly obsessed with EDP.

Peach, mandarin, vanilla and cedar. Perfectly blended together to give a smooth, creamy and absolutely seamless cashmere-like composition. It feels both like cashmere and a fuzzy, juicy peach that you can almost touch and feel the gorgeous texture, if only olfactory senses could deliver the tactile ones too. I may just say that I wish the beautiful sparkling mandarin notes that the scent starts off with would last longer.

I could go on praising Allure EDP forever so I'll just round this off by saying that silage and longevity are wonderful. This scent resonates with my perfume tastes and my own personality so much that Shalimar now has a big rival.

Mickey764

this to me is soo soo comforting! Its creamy and musky and soft and powdery, its mature and sophisticated and classy but not old or dated very modern. This is my I'm in a bad mood or rainy day lay on the couch with my roots sweatpants and bf t-shirt wrapped in my duvet with a hot chocolate or coffee and watch movie kinda perfume just cozy and warm.. ahhh I love it I will say though it doesn't last as long as it once did its been reformulated clearly and it shows in the strength and longevity unfortunately.

BananaonSpeed

Every time I wear this, my mind is transported back to everything 90's. It's one of those iconic fragrances that have that magical ability to sum up a decade.

That being said, I don't think that means it's dated or unwearable now. It stands apart from most of the current releases and typical of a Chanel fragrance, it's beautifully composed, projects perfectly and lasts all day (on me at least).

Kittykatkin

I'm late to the Allure party but I'm so glad I've finally arrived! It's warm but not heavy, soft but not weak, fresh but not cold. It's full of contradictions but it just really works. It's elegant and I think it's a little bit sexy in an mmm-come-a-little-closer way. I predominantly get peach, vanilla, jasmine and vetiver. I'm sure that like the EDT it also has amber in the base as I can really smell it in the drydown. In this it does remind me of Coco which my mum wears and I love. Some find the longevity of the newest formulation to be poor but it lasts and lasts on me, I can definitely still smell it the next day (and that's from only one squirt per wrist and one on my chest). I even sprayed a little in my hair then washed it 48 hours later only to still be able to smell it after! I know some don't like the bottle but I love it. The colours suit the juice inside perfectly and I like the simplicity of it. It's nice it's not the standard Chanel flacon. Please Chanel, please do not stop making this beauty!

bel.gravia

Allure was love at first sniff. The first encounter, though was with eau de toilette, latter with Sensuelle, however I got myself Allure eau de parfum. I know what it was between me and this peachy color beauty - peach, exactly! Peach and vanilla <3 Allure is not your casual, usual composition like a precious stone it has six facets, according to Chanel none of which is allowed to dominate, take the stage and overpower. It's a concept like Lancome's Magie Noire 8: the composition develops, then goes back to where is started. Is any of this true? Well, not for me. On me its a pretty straight forward, little changing and little developing duo of powdery peach and vanilla. No complaints, by the way! Flowers are just supporting the composition.Oh wait, nevermind. I have just sprayed it, and as it actually smelled like peach and vanilla only, but now it's spicy vetiver. Now some flowers. Damn, Chanel is right, it is actually multifaceted. What a warm smell. Comforting. Maybe not your casual perfume, but on some sunny occasions, or on rainy days it is my go-to.
Ah, now I know why I like it so much, it's vanilla and peach, same as in Gucci Rush!

Lauren19

This one is tricky for me! I think it is unique and different from most perfumes out there. However, I go back and forth with it. On one hand there are times when I think it smells divine and would wear nicely. Other times I put it on and think it's just not for me. I like it and I will continue trying it until I have figured it out. I enjoy the EDP much more than the EDT and Sensuelle, I just don't know if it is for me.

milicathecat

Allure EDP is perfection(for me)! It’s the perfect creamy scent that stays all day, doesn’t choke people around me and it’s keeping me feeling like I’ve just stepped out of a shower and lotion-ed myself with something expensive. I’m not sure if it will work for the summer because where I live summers are gross, humid and hot as hell, but for any other season when temperatures are normal it’s amazing. The only thing I don’t like is the bottle design, doesn’t match the scent in my opinion, and also doesn’t match the Chanel brand but oh well!

mhill46

This is a gorgeous scent to me. Very elegant, classy, and mature but also smelled quite nice on me, a young lady in her 20s.

HOWEVER, it didn't last more than 10 minutes and that's being quite generous. If this lasted longer I'd be keeping a full bottle in my collection forever, but alas the lasting power on me at least was just not there. And it's not even that I went "nose blind" to it. I asked everyone else around and no one could detect that I was wearing anything. I don't know if I'm just broken or what but I really really wish this lasted longer.

giri-boni

I appreciate the beauty in Chanel scents. This one is fruity, fatty, perfumey, the smell overdressed women had when I was a kid. Reminds me of Tresor in Love, or the Tresor line in general. Very long lasting, around 12hs if I do not wash my skin. A beauty. But nothing out of this world.

raiza1990

I don’t like the opening. It smells dated. Later, it turns into a nice floral. A bit powdery, a bit sweet. The drydown has something spicy that i like, but overall it’s not my kind of fragrance.
Final note: 7/10

SweetLadyForOne

Difficult to define is definitely a good way to describe this scent! The first time I tried it, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. The second time... I grew to love it! The weird thing is I have no idea how to describe it. Usually I'd say it's Woody or floral or vanilla or fruity. This... I have no idea what it is. I can only say it's very unique, and I love it.

Blooondie

Super soft powder floral. Opens with a slight citrus and peach combined with peony and a touch of rose.

More of an every day scent. Not to impressive but smells lovely. After reading reviews I am now on the hunt for the vintage bottle. I have to see what everyone is talking about.

But this fragrance is a true Chanel for me. Nothing to impressive. Daily wear and smells good.

Anamandy

My sister's signature fragrance from the time it was released until the mid 2000s. While shopping she tried it again at Macy's and didn't recognize it. She said it no longer smells the same. Sadly, it's the same old story for so many former great perfumes. Don't companies realize these are works of art that shouldn't be reworked?

While what I remembered smelled beautiful on my sister, on me I found the woodiness in the base very off-putting. Cedar has a tendency to amplify on me, and I don't like it, though I love the juicy fruity beginning of this fragrance. I just wish it stayed that way all the way through. Quite by chance I found a dupe of this scent profile that is less than a 1/3rd the price. Jean Couturier Un Jardin de Paris. If you compare the notes, they are almost identical, except Un Jardin uses sandalwood instead of cedar, which works better on my skin and for me makes this a smoother fragrance. So, if you are also having difficulty with the cedar and want something that smells just as good as the best parts of Allure, Un Jardin is the way to go.

annxyz

This perfume was my all time favorite and it made my heart sing for years . I echo the reviews preceding me that the perfume has been stripped down to nothing and is an insult to consumers in its current state . Allure used to be rich and complex, somewhat subdued, and understated elegance and now it makes me wonder about the intellect of the captains of the Chanel ship .

The last bottle I bought a year ago was so weak that I returned it and got a new one. The new one was also very weak and lasted barely an hour and I donated it to charity and have sworn off Chanel until they make a genuine commitment to quality .

amariahb

I went to David Jones to try the newest EDP of the Chanel Allure perfume. I noticed it was been weakened considerably compared to previous versions.

When sprayed, I smelt was citrus, floral, vanilla and rose, but there was no substantial lovely bright opening. This perfume has now been muted on my skin.

However, after 10 mins, it went into a skin scent. It lasted on my skin for 3 hours, I had to rest my nose onto my skin to smell it.

As this decade is about fast fashion, unfortunately, Chanel's quality has declined and followed this whimsical trend. This version's silage is very weak. For the price of this perfume, it is very disappointing fragrance, quality and all the scents blends together with no clear distinctions.

In the 1990's my allure lasted all day - 10 hours plus. I love perfume that leaves a trail. I do not just want an perfume bottle with the Brand on it. I want people to notice I have arrived. Now this perfume hides itself, in the shadow of its former glory.
It is just sweet toilet citrus and floral water if I am lucky.

For the EDT on the card, I could not smell the fragrance strongly. On my skin, it felt like I placed nothing on.

Chanel has destroyed Allure with its weakened reformulations. It is so sad to see.

JustSimpleThings

How to describe this one... compared to the EDT, I feel it is much more complex and intricate. There is a clean soapy vibe (cedar?) but also a spicy accord, and a sophistication weaved through it all. It is hard to make out individual notes, because it all blends so seamlessly.

If this perfume was a woman, I imagine she would be in her thirties, single but not out of a want for admirerers. She is self-reliant, mysterious, men want her but she always leaves them wanting more.

An intriguing scent for a self-assured woman!

betterlina

Such a class! Such a "Noblesse oblige"! One of the very few aroma's at the perfum scene that inspires you to behave like a lady, dress like a lady, walk like a lady, feel like a lady! Stylish from the beginning to the end!

schauspielerin

The new version of the EDP is one of the biggest disappointments I ever suffered with a fragrance reformulation in my life.

I had my first bottle of the EDP in 2003 and I loved it ever since. Citrusy-peachy fresh and vanilla notes and some florals, perfectly combined, great sillage, long lasting, truly precious, like liquid gold. I could find the scent in my memory clearly, at any given moment, ever since that first bottle.
Then I paused buying it for a time, but never really forgot about it.

Last week, I couldn't resist any longer (autumn coming back, searching for vanilla goodness... you know the feeling) , and ordered another bottle.

I almost could not believe that it was the genuine Chanel article, but it really is, serial numbers and all.
But what the *** happened here??

Citrus and peach in the opening? No! Soapy, rubbery flowers... (what? why??)
Vanilla? Anywhere??

What once was this perfect, delicate balance of notes is now a weird, screeching mixture of notes, that do not seem to fit together. Something floral, something sweetish, some aldehydes and some spices, all randomly poured together. Like someone layered three or four perfumes to try and imitate the real Allure EdP, and totally overdid it. You can see what it is meant to be, but sadly, it just is not.

Good sillage? Nope. About 3 inches from my skin. But it's very strong and cloying, for a long time. Too bad that after 30 minutes, all that remains, is a bitter, synthetic, still loudly screeching something (vetiver?), a LOT of that, and a very strange sweet underlying scent of something rotten or unwashed. It is becoming more and more nauseating the longer it develops.

Why are companies allowed to reformulate in such a huge amount without having to change the names of their products? This is not Allure EdP, this is 120 € wasted. Thank you very much.

If anyone of you wants to swap (in Germany preferably) the 100ml bottle for something else, feel free to contact me, but I seriously can't recommend this stuff to anyone, who had the (now) vintage version.

This is the saddest end to a really long lovestory.

temo

For me this is the epitome of Chanel. Extremely well blended and just as glorious today as it was in 1996. I agree with the poster that mentioned that none of the notes seem to stand out in particular, but I find the blend to be pure magic. After an hour or so it settles in to a light, warm, blanketing of comfort. Makes me smile!

Cherry_Darling

Great citrus burst opening but soon turns into a scrubber for me. Has what I call the Chanel stink which puts me off every time. Soapy aldehydes. Had to wash off.

HoneySuck

The creamy mix of vetiver, jasmine, bergamot and vanilla, coupled with that unmistakable mysterious aldehylic lure just make this one of the most magnetic juices ive ever owned.

This citrus in the dry down is so warming, its like putting on a big cream coloured fluffy cashmere sweater on a cool night...there is no other way to describe it.

The vanilla is so soft, not overly sweet at all and it doesnt have to be...it is classed as a 'spice' afterall.

If youve ever smelt a fresh madagascan vanilla bean youll know what i mean.

Beautiful work Chanel, and its little sister, Sensuelle, is just as lovely.

lmwimsatt

I'm sure this opinion will be unpopular but I think dior really polished this scent with joy. This smells like the drawer of a bathroom cabinet mixed with mk amber and dior joy. Sorry chanel.

flyergirl❤️perfumes

This is the “hidden gem” of Chanel brand. Most people preferences are Coco Mademoseille or Chance..IMO both of them are pioneery fragrances in their own way to offer elegance, sophistication with versatility...Despite of being citrussy & elegant like the others this one has different charasterictic points..This is citrussy as powdery fragrance in a smooth way...If you let yourself to investigate the stunt of this beauty, it might draw into you to smell more..This is really captivating!

denoko

Allure smells like self-acceptance, like peace, like learning to love yourself and life wholeheartedly at the end. Like discovering the "secret" to life which was easy and there all the time: Flowing with whatever comes and goes, just staying by your own side. So smooth, so peaceful, so effortless. So you!

churinl

I just don't know about this one! I remember loving it when it first came out, but there is something harsh in the EDP I now own. It settles down, but I am never blown away by it, which makes me sad because I distinctly remember thinking this was very beautiful. Reading through the reviews, someone mentioned the strength of the bergamot and I agree - I think this is what I find off putting as it seems to hang around longer than I would like, overpowering the peach and vanilla notes that I want to smell so desperately! I need to sample the EDT, as they seem to be different enough that it might be closer to what I remember. I will keep this and wear it, but I don't think I will ever love it.

Zana1970

Allure is all I want in a fragrance, to be a little bit sweet, to project and project, to be a lady, to last..if it wasn't so expencive I would use it every day! This is what I want, and I am happy that I only need 1 spritz to smell all long day the same, and in the evening it becames moderate and the next day a very subtile skinscent..halleluja...this and Versace edp does for me what I want, to last with 1 spritz!

Inspired91

I don't hate it, in fact I want to like it because it does feel quite sophisticated. It's oriental and spicy (which I'm always drawn to) but it's mixed with some very odd unnatural....almost plasticky and medicinal smell that just really makes it the opposite of sensual or inviting to me. It feels like someone sophisticated yet quite cold would wear it.

Reese1861

I have a 1.7 fluid oz bottle of the EDT for sale on Ebay if anyone is interested. Got it for Christmas and doesn't work with my chemistry. Here's the item number 392214736414.

allure edp is just the femininity in a bottle..i love this.

4199 Chanel Allure
wellblendedness is what I get from a flacon of eau de parfum acquired presumably 5 yrs ago. but my history with Allure goes back farther. since its inception as edt. 1996 eye bought a flacon of such accompanied with a beautiful booklet, explaining on doux-rose pages this was a 'prismatic perfume' without head-, middle- and basenotes. you got all at once. I loved the perfume (edt) and loved the booklet. well in 1999 I got the edp and have since bought I guess 3 flacons of that version. I clearly remember loving both. and now, as yesterday evening in response to what 'olfactorista' said about what a scrubber it had become, lying in bed I was surrounded by the most beautiful olphactory experience. yes it was a total-theatre experience. I was cloaked in figments of the loveliest scents. it is not so much these present itself each time in sharp defined contours but thinking and looking at and, once in bed, imagining and sensing, smelling what then these ingredients were they came clear above. peach, rose, jasmine, neroli, orange, vanilla, peony and magnolia. somehow the vetiver and cedar doesn't so much come to the fore in my experience and I feel this is one (of many) of the ultimate feminine fragrances. about the rose: I am a great fan of roses, actually for me they are the queen of flowers and in perfume I love them in all incarnations. ladylike, as in almost all Chanel perfumes, the
fineries of the Rose de Mai of Grasse they use. yet I am the archetypal rose-oudh connaisseur: I lure in Dusitas Oudh Infini when I can, Ex Idolo's Thirty Three, the Montales (I don't ever do the Montale bashing, these are phenomenal perfumes with unbelievable sillage and projection with real oudh as well as strong roses used); then I love haunted roses as Domique Ropion/Frederic Malle's Promise, al Waad with her frightening blast of cypriol and castoreum, clove-oil and the best of 2 species of rose absolutes, and Portrait of a Lady with the rose almost as if grown in a deep bourgogne, bordeau or nebbiolo, unneutered while they used ox-blood in the growth sub-rosa.
for 'olfactorista' then this supplementary description not for her to change her mind. every day I learn there are so much perfumes, so much personal sensations, so much different moments in which the perfume is sensed (as the gentleman VanniGodfrey clarifies). this perfume according to my tastes, is sheer genius as well in the edt as in the edp version and I am aware that the companies (what with LVMH and KeringGroup and KorsEnterprises and I don't know how the hell these conglomerates are further called) only enhance a further "adjustment" = dilution = marketing technological stratagem and minimise performances of the perfumes under their 'curation', that they do this. on the other side the revenge of the perfumes lies in this: that flacons longer in once's possession, macerate further (this I learned reading the findings of a Creed 'Nez') and, like wine and cheese (and antiques) only gain in richesse and grandeur. that a flacon with perfume can "turn" I almost never (but did) experienced. I have six flacons of Gale Hayman Beverly Hills, that devilish civet-rose-gardenia monster from 1990, and neither of them has 'turned' on the contrairy, their performance has only increased, which got to be a criminal offense. a 'seasoned' Allure will become a very precious, rich perfume for the ladies who lunch, and ... me, the feminine man from the Netherlands.

VanniGodfrey

Allure has really taken me a lot of time to appreciate. Both this and Allure Homme I have gone back and forth over and over between admiration and enmity over the years---sometimes I settle on one feeling for awhile before unexpectedly changing to the other, and it's unpredictable how I might feel about them at any given time. Such is the case with many of my most favorite fragrances---I tend to go through cycles like this where I hate a fragrance and swear it off, yet cannot stop coming back to it, and eventually realize an underlying adoration for it. I really try not to say that I totally and completely hate a fragrance (especially those from my favorite houses like Chanel or Guerlain) because I understand that they are complex creatures, like paintings or songs that may not be fully understood without careful attention and a conscious effort to appreciate their nuances.

With Allure EDP, I have finally become comfortable enough saying that I really, really love it. The opening is an olfactive landscape of peach fuzz and fruit nectar, and in the drydown emerges a harmonious combination of white flowers (and I am very pleased with the absence of the gauzy and cloying rose Chanel tends to include in their formulations; the rose here is very subtle). Somewhere in the middle it becomes vaguely metallic, similar to how Samsara seems to my nose, which I believe is due to the jasmine used in it---it it is a very bizarre trait but I really quite enjoy it.

I think I have always had some reservations about Allure because of this combination of textures: succulent and rich at first and then more velvety and smooth as it develops, with some strange metallic sheen in the mix. I don't know, it just always seemed a bit uncomfortable to me for some reason, and never really seemed very "Chanel" to my tastes. Maybe I found it intimidating. For now, I've finally added it to my collection and I find myself compulsively reaching for it daily. I finally love it without hesitation, and I needed some time to really comprehend it. It still unnerves me somehow, but I like that it takes me out of my comfort zone.

Allure Homme I'm still working on...

olfactorista

I recently purchased the EDP with great regret. I tested the EDT which I liked but bought the EDP because I figured it would be more of a good thing. Boy was I wrong... the EDT was lemony/vanilla/powdery/melon and the EDP was urine/vanilla/synthetic/nauseating with no notes really sticking out. Projection and longevity were better with the EDT. I have all the Chanels and Allure was the last to add to my collection. Probably because it was hit or miss depending on which formula I tested. The EDP is boring and sits close to your skin... the outside of my bottle even smelled like dog pee on carpet... the EDT lacks that "note" and I couldn't be happier after exchanging my EDP for the EDT. Both were manufactured in 2018.

SaraX

This is one of my long time loves among all scents, and actually the only scent by Chanel which I can say I truly love (both EdP and EdT).

I was given this (EdP) as a gift some 15 years ago, so I kind of run into this accidentally. The EdT I bought myself some years ago, since I figured it would be just as perfect as this, if not even more. I love them both.

For me the EdP is more of a autumn and winter time scent, being a bit heavier, and the EdP more suitable for spring and summer, since it's a bit more citrucy and lighter.

This EdP posesses some real good depth to it and stays as a warm, luxurious and inviting scent on my skin for at least 24 hours. And while this is a highly sophisticated scent, this is also very cozy and suitable for those cold winter nights at home.

On my skin this is sophisticated, lady like (yet a little playful) warm, sweet, creamy and slightly oriental floral with strong soapy notes. And I love the soapiness I get from this one: It's not the usual soapy note in perfumes, but instead a very soft, sweet, luxurious, creamy/milky beautiful soap, which floats around me all day when I'm wearing this.

ClEL

Deauville and Allure are like sisters. They are different but give a similar vibe.

Hotyoga

I find the peach in this altogether all too sweet and cloying in this. I really wanted to love it but it just doesn’t work on me

purplepearl

Wow, I love this! This is a good perfume for sure.

CaliMember

Allure EDP is my signature scent.

It is my be-all and end-all fragrance. It gives me deep satisfaction to finally have found "The One". It feels belittling to say it's part of my collection, as if it is a piece of something bigger. Because for me, Allure could stand alone. I would be happy if this is the only perfume I had. PERIOD.

wenna41

Ladies, as a guy, who is a die hard believer that this scent is the epitome of refined seduction, class and elegance and no, I surely do not mind wearing it either!
The color of the juice inside the bottle and the packaging reminds me of a honey coloured Burberry trench- the Sandringham, pictured me strolling in rainy weather, not forgetting ,my scarf wrapping me in sheer luxury....to die for!

The warmth in this evokes something carnal, like warm skin, aroused skin, to be honest ....it truly is difficult to define indeed! The vanilla note is divine, just enough to entice...in a very cunning, classy way. My only surprise is, sadly, for no reason known to me, the first few minutes after spraying only two squirts, I suddenly start sneezing....Is it only me or is there anyone who can relate? I can already picture some here thinking "it serves him right, hands off of frags"- * dead by laughter!

guachipiruli

I find this quite similar to Dune, especially in the first 30 minutes. I can’t really point out which note it is, but it smells like Dune mixes with body lotion or something like that. I totally prefer Dune, it is clearer to my nose... There is something in allure that doesn’t make it special to me.

Marianora67

This is my best and all time fav and signature! For years! This is definitely the one I often pick in preference to my other fragrances. If I had to leave home asap this is probably the one I'ld choose! I usually like to wear this in Winter and/or Autumn! It is delightful! Not too sweet, sexy, Not too mainstream, not too earthy, not too loud! Not too soft! Not too anything really just balanced IMHO to perfection! And also very versatile! I couldn't imagine being without!

Hubby always gifts this or Chance to me for my birthday! This is a warm floral oriental beauty! Love-<3Magnolia, vanilla, peachy, mandarines and May rose ,cedar and peony so gorgeous, Feminine and classy.

Annemarie

I've owned this for a few years. Essentially I get peaches, vanilla and cedar, all in perfect harmony. I don't notice much citrus in the opening. Allure reminds me of other 90s fruity florals but of course, coming from Chanel, it is beautifully done and the formula has not been cheapened.

Allure's sweet notes are balanced by the austerity of the cedar, but nevertheless I find it (the EDP; I have not tried the EDT) rather dense in texture, and a tad sweet for my taste. It works best in cooler weather, and I have to be in the mood for it. When I am, Allure is just delightful.

bibibling

So I have a plate of kind of sour, not too sweet peaches in front of me, and I'm wearing Allure EDP so I guess it's time to do a review.

A few years ago I went into an obsession about finding the perfect candy-peach scent and Allure EDP was one of the finalists that made it home with me besides Chloe Narcisse, D&G The One, V&R Bonbon etc. Allure EDP is NOT a candy-peach smell at all but i must have liked it enough at that moment to just go ahead and buy it anyway. Unfortunately, it has been pretty neglected and I only remembered to put in on now because, well, you know, I'm having that weird urge to rub a slice of peach on my pulse points because it smells so good and that's a bit WEIRD even for a frag-head so...

Allure EDP does smell VERY peachy, though like a perfumer's reinterpretation of a peach. THe vanilla makes it more creamy and cushiony but it's still a bright and energetic scent. I see a woman who works in an office, maybe a doctor or a lawyer who knows nothing about perfumes wearing this. It's Chanel, so she figures it must be good, and it's way less intimidating than No 5, Coco and the other big-girl Chanels and more grown-up than the Chances, that pale pink Mademoiselle and Lily Depp endorsed #5 L'eau... and it's still Chanel! I think this must literally be the safest scent a professional lady clueless about fragrances can buy and still have it smell amazing to the point where people who actually know about perfume like it too.

Me? I'm changing the spot of this perfume on my counter because I'll be reaching for it a lot more often from now on. I guess it really shines in the summer, I must have found it pretty boring to be hiding it way in the back all these years...

I'll tell all of you, go re-check your ignored perfumes in different seasons and temperatures, some of them really smell better at different times of the year! I feel like I have a brand new toy!

camden-girl

Smells a lot like marmalade jam to me.
My husband and daughter agreed that it has a rich orangy jammy smell yummy.

Just like 212 vip for women.....this chanel treasure fits my chemistry like 100%... its very long wearing and the sillage is heavy....you can surely turn heads around whenever you arrive if this is your choice..its perfect for malaysia's climate...theres something about chanel line that i really like...the patchouli....maybe...but it evokes a scent that is unique and so memorable...9/10

I didn’t mean to buy it. But something came over me.

I was at the department store today picking up a gift for my mother’s birthday when I remembered: I want to sample Allure.

Walking to the Chanel counter, I imagined asking the salesperson to make me a sample so I could wear it on my skin for a few days and see how things react with my chemistry. What happened instead? They were out of sample atomizers. So I, a self-proclaimed perfume addict, decided the most logical and rational decision when in this situation is to just purchase a 100ml bottle. You know, what everyone does when faced with this challenge (please tell me you’re catching the sarcasm).

When I sprayed the bottle on my wrist at the counter I immediately smelled a fizzy citrus scent. Not too fresh and certainly not too sharp. Just fuzzy in all the right ways. My nose really couldn’t determine what the scent would be, but I was curious to see it through. It actually reminded me in a way how I feel about the first 5 minutes of Eau Premiere. Fizzy, fuzzy and definitely interesting.

Now, nearly 5 hours later, I no longer smell any fizz or any citrus. It’s all vanilla and white florals - like expensive soap with a little OOMPH. Very classy and definitely a head turner.

I also sniff an underlying layer of amber, but not too much as this scent is not too “dirty” or “earthy”. Allure is the fragrance I’d want to wear squeaky clean out of a shower, hair freshly blown out, skin scrubbed and lotioned up. This is “I have my sh*t together” in a bottle. I want to try the flanker now.

Love at the first spray... it is the best fragrance create day Chanel IMO, it is sweet, I can detect mandarin and vanilla, it has a good longebity and the projection very very addictive, it will be the next for me!!!

Pivoinie

Based on the enormous number of positive reviews and the mentions that this is a perfect vanilla fragrance, I was convinced this would be a perfect match. And yes, I like it. On me, it is a soft flowery fresh vanilla. It is nice, and it indeed reminds me a lot of the spa bodymilk line by Dove, as someone mentioned below. But I feel like I just cannot make this work: I am convinced that all these positive revuews are not based on a bodymilk-experience and just 'nice', there must be more to this perfume than I experience. Will keep it in my cupboard to be rediscovered after a while, hoping to be able to do the fume justice by then...

Edit: I recently bought No. 5 L'Eau and the vanilla note reminds me of Allure. L'Eau seems to work way better on my skin, so I sold Allure to someone who can do it more justice than me...

Ok I have been on the hunt for a perfect oriental Vanilla fragrance and this is absolutely it! It has everything, cozy stunning vanilla, that ripe peach and some citrus tones to add a little spice and zest plus some florals to add feminity. This has amazing lasting power and its strong! This is classy and coziness in a bottle! I get nothing but compliments when I wear this beauty! Today I am getting a 100 ml bottle for my birthday present! So happy to have Allure in my collection, it is a must!!!

Actress Priscilla Presley wears this Chanel fragrance. I saw her at the LAX airport 2 years ago and asked her for her autograph and took a photograph with her. She was very sweet and chatted with me a few minutes. She smelled wonderful. I told Priscilla I loved her perfume and asked which fragrance it was. She said it was Chanel Allure. I bought it immediately after that! I love it.

Another sexy and sensual fragrance from Chanel.I love Allure with its warm spicy and floral notes. This perfume lasts all day and smells divine.Rating 10/10

I bought Allure EDP in the 35ml bottle as my first Chanel perfume and I fell in love!! The initial spray was a little off putting due to the strong note of bergamot but then the dry down gives off the beautiful magnolia note with musk and peony. Similar to Jo Malone’s Peony and Blush Suede due to the peony notes but more softer and sweeter. This is definitely my scent for the cooler months both day and night. I have tested Chanel No. 5 but it was too strong for my liking and Allure is a better choice. Definitely recommended!!

jubuluxe

I got this few years ago, I remember I was in love with this, was a must-have. Realizing I still have more than 25 unopen perfume bottles. I need to start using it.

I felt sick the first day I use it, not sure if I spray too much or what, seem heavy. I the force myself to use it few more times coz I have 100 ml to go through ( now I won't buy 100 ml anymore ) Anyway, I now just spray it on back of my neck.
this perfume doesn't give me any characters is smell a bit commercial to me now. Is a pretty Floral, but doesn't make me feel pretty or attractive.

Allure possesses an aura of strong familiarity to me, yet I can't quite place why. That being said, I can understand why this isn't as successful or popular as other Chanel releases; it's a non-distinctive, pretty citric woody vanilla in the same vein as quite a few 1999-2000s releases.

Allure is dominated by bright orange, sparkling magnolia & jasmine, a peach-vanilla accord reminiscent of Burberry Classic, and soft woods. Its blend of notes are beautifully balanced, accentuating each other and harmonising beautifully. The result is pleasant and sophisticated, yet forgettable. I picture this on a 35+ upper-middle class suburban mother who has her sh*t together and probably runs the PTA.

ZenBunny

I bought this as a gift for my mother long ago, so as a result have avoided wearing it..
But I can’t stop trying it on at perfume counters, it’s so full-bodied and feminine
The dry down is gorgeous!
Im buying this for myself

adamik

The perfume I used in high school, but i do not think it is young girl perfume. It is so powerful that everyone on your side can take the smell. I get a scent of orange, vanilla and jasmine.

dnque

First impression: luxurious sunscreen. I like it but I am not in love. I like the cedar note. Summer scent in my opinion.

savageinstrangeland

This fragrance is probably the least popular female marketed Chanel. I'm not sure why... it's worlds better than some of their others. Gabrielle and Coco Noir, I'm looking at you two... not that they're bad, but Allure EDP & EDT are both better. Allure easily performs the best out of all the Chanel's too.

It opens citrusy, Fruity and admittedly not my favorite. That drydown though! Ugh... it's absolutely to die for. Very creamy, a little sweet but never sugary. It's a bit hard to articulate. My husband loves it on me as do my oldest sons. So men seem to find it nice. I don't think men find it quite as nice as the comically exaggerated 90's Chanel Allure Commercial w/ the caged business men (you have to watch it if you haven't, it's hilarious and I actually think it's linked up above by the ad photos) but it does seem to have been made with men's preferences in mind. The commercial only further reinforces that's what Chanel was going for... A woman's fragrance intended to entice men. Smells a lot different on skin than on a card. On the card it never really developed.

This stuff goes the distance. It lasts like 8-12 hours with two sprays, it's sexy and sophisticated, which is a delicate balance that Chanel does very, very well. You get the same balance of sexy & sophistication in Coco. Not that they smell alike because they absolutely do not, just that they share that ability to be super sexy without sacrificing Class. Allure leaves a lovely little memory trail And wafts as you move about, but it isn't obnoxious if you don't over apply it. It's damn near perfection. Yet another Chanel in my collection that I bought on a trip to the department store specifically for another fragrance... I went for Lancôme Poeme and left with a 3.4 oz of this also. Chanel seems to be really good at getting me to drop that extra $135 I wasn't planning on spending. lol

Extravaganza

Can't believe how much in love I am with this fragrance! It's so warm and sensual, and the citruses in the opening are lovely and not at all synthetic like with so many other perfumes out there. So happy I got a 35 ml bottle that is easy to carry in my bag and spritz it on my wrist whenever I feel like smelling this beauty. This fruity-floral is very well balanced between fruits and florals and dries down to the most gorgeous vanilla.

spinderella

Forgot how headache inducing this fragrance is for me. Tried it when it was just released, and I am a sort of wick for this fragrance. A friend told me never ever to wear this perfume again, because people were fainting behind my back, that strong is the sillage it gets on my skin. Am I the only one who has this with allure? I recently bought an empty bottle just for the cap (I own a tester with 35 ml pure perfume of chanel no 19, without a cap, and the shape of the bottle is exactly the same as the allure 35ml. So swap the cap et voilà). There was just a little bit left in the bottle so I tried it on my arm. OMG. That was the reason I never tried it since the first time. Having a headache now. Thick sweetness.

Bloomahyde

I was so disappointed with this perfume and that has never happened with a Chanel creation before. I guess orange blossom isn't for me, much like cherry blossom. It hits my sinuses and my face morphs into an expression not unlike the gif of the baby tasting lemon for the first time. I waited a half hour just to be sure, then hopped into the shower. Maybe the eau de toilette isn't as sharp?

ETA: I pulled the bottle out of storage, and boy, was I wrong. Perhaps the juice needed to settle? It is lovely and creamy, and reminds me a bit of Cinema by YSL. Lesson learned. Give your frags a second chance!

Vintagelaces

I must hate peaches because they are all I can smell in this and it gives me major "nose hair burn" and a headache. I used to kinda like this, as it was pretty and sophisticated. Now, not so much. It smells too sweet and just too sharp, I don't know. I'll be selling my bottle on ebay then. If you're interested in purchasing this or swapping, please let me know.

Ella09

Warm, sensual, elegant, feminine beauty. Classy and timeless. I just wish it lasted a little bit longer on my skin.

FloatingOphelia

This is vastly different from the other Allure. I thought they would be similar but the other one is much fresher, floral, light and frankly, better IMO. There's a strange mix of what is referred to as " baby doll head" and synthetic vanilla. I found it unsettling and my son didnt like it. I thought it would mellow out but the longer I wore it the odder it got. Not for me. If I want an odd somewhat plasticky scent Shalimar is my choice( I love that one).

Rose Hip

I first bought it almost 20 years ago when I was young and everything seemed perfect because it was the 90s. I loved it then and I love it now. Call it a sentimental journey or going down the memory line, for me it's all this plus perfection in s bottle.
And the male version is equally good ❤️

BlueFan

Wanted to love it, as have had several Chanels in the past. Ended up scrubbing it off my wrist as it gave me a headache and my dog hated it.

Thuddles

Migraine inducing on me, as is anything peach.

LadyIva

This fragrance has Jacques Polge's name written all over it. It sits somewhere between Polge's No. 5 EDP and Coco Mademoiselle. It is sweeter than No. 5, courtesy of a really prominent fuzzy synthetic peach, but they do share their DNA (vanilla, jasmine, rose, orange blossom/neroli, vetiver). These are enhanced with Mademoiselle's trademark mandarin orange. If it weren't for that peach (god, I really hate that note!), I would totally enjoy this scent; alas, just like another Chanel pillar, Christalle, the peach really ruins Allure for me. Pity.

Delila

This is an appealing, good quality, creamy and sweet fragrance. It reminds me of the very best creme brulee I ever had.

It has no spices or noticeable woods, making it approachable for a wide range of tastes and situations. It's sweet, feminine and very smooth.

The only problem is extremely poor longevity on me. Unlike most of the Longevity ratings on this page, Allure very predictably all but disappears on me by the two hour mark. If not for that, I'd like to have a decant of this in my collection.

ANNAFRYS

I had a lot of samples.
I have enjoyed. Not sure if I want to ahve a bottle- its really expensive, but It's nice for my chemistry.

Waltzing Matilda

I've loved Allure since its inception. It's a wonderful fragrance and it never fails to get lots of compliments. Thankfully, I don't get much vanilla but detect some lovely citrus floral and woods.

I feel it's more suited to daytime in summer. People always comment on the lovely fragrance and ask me what it is. Excellent sillage and lasting power. It's sophisicated, refined and all class - of course it is, it's Chanel.

rbcahay

I really do not like this fragrance. It is a very strong spicy vanilla on my skin, which right away makes me think of liquor. I can understand why that appeals to some people, and why it might be considered "sexy". But it's just so aggressive on my nose, I feel you'd have to really love it to wear it all the time because it will be all you smell all day long.

This is the perfume I imagine French ladies of the night wore centuries ago.

kati77

Allure well ... One of the first Chanels perfum I really like. Super-good longevity 10 / 12h.
At first the flowers, then the more deep vanilla, oriental, after 2 hours does not weaken, but the vanilla changes, just delight ... It must be a mix of water lily, mandarin, magnolia and freesia. Citrus is more in its early stages.
Beautiful smell, probably originated first, then edp and other versions.
Class and classic. I understand why its so long on the market, it always will be. I will even go into words better than the No 5.

Daniela_Beatriz

What, no pepper? Whatsoever? I really have a peppery feel from that one (black pepper), along with flowers, a hint of vanilla and pencil shavings (which I love). It smells chic, expensive and distinctive.

iamoir

The classification of the fragrance is totally wrong in my opinion, no way it's an oriental vanilla. Despite that I like it very very much; this has to be the first perfume from Chanel that became a wrist crack the day of testing. And that rings a bell to me.

Basically it's a fruity floral that is distinct from others and that doesn't lean towards the gourmand side, despite the presence of peach and vanilla. Maybe they are not completely peach and a clear vanilla. An aromatic and not juicy peach with a citrusy facet and then some soft balmy vanilla, smoothening for the most part.

Up until now the scent is not alluring for me, but a very pretty and lovely scent. Reminds me of home and it smells familiar, maybe mom has been wearing either Allure or something similar.

Wait for it, my favorite part is after the fruity part, where magnolia is the most prominent with the rose and the jasmine. We are talking about a metallic twist in the scent, cold, distant, having a bloody feel. Maybe now it's jasmine and peach. Whatever the drydown is, and if it ever exists because of the notes alternating vividly, I'm a total sucker for it.

Lepa Jelena

If your body chemistry is right, this perfume is AMAZING! Something about the peach and vanilla. Unfortunately, it did not work from me. But on my friend it was the best perfume ever!

Germanblonde

She bears the right name, she is indeed really alluring. So well blended and beautiful. A classy lady with a young vibe.
I receive tons of compliments when wearing Allure, mainly from other women. It is a really a divine scent.
