Questions about contact after registration
We write to more candidates than we have accommodations, because there is always a chance that candidates will drop out.
You have received an email from us stating that you are on the reserve list. We do ask you to provide documents. If you do not do this, you will lose your position on the candidate list.
If there is a dropout, we will check the first candidate on the reserve list. If it is your turn and your documents have been approved, you will receive a message from us and an invitation to one of the Matching evenings.
So keep an eye on your email in the near future! You don't have to send us an email to ask if we know more, we will let you know when it is your turn.
When you sent your documents you received an automatic reply. This shows that we have received your email. We will be writing to hundreds of candidates to provide their documents. We are working very hard to respond to everyone as quickly as possible, but we will certainly be working on this until May 23.
Congratulations! This means that you will be invited to a Matching Evening where you can choose your final home. You will soon receive an invitation by email.
Unfortunately, we currently do not have a home available for you in Haven. If we have run out of the reserve list, we may still contact you. But the chance that you will still qualify for a home in Haven is small. In the future, accommodations may become available again in Haven if the first residents decide to move. These accommodations are published on rooms.vestide.nl.
The selected property type cannot be changed after responding to the advertisement. You are only eligible for the housing type you have chosen.
Priority rules
You will receive priority if you fall under one of these groups in academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.
1st year students (starters) get priority on 50% of the rooms in the group homes. For the other housing types (studios and apartments) this does not apply.
Questions about the matching event
At the matching event you get to know your future neighbors and/or roommates and choose your student room, studio or apartment (based on your registration).
The goal is for you to find a nice group to become neighbors or roommates with. Your answers to the questionnaire when you register via the advertisement are used as a starting point for the matching process.
Everyone who comes to a matching event gets a place to live!
Yes, to be assigned a property you must attend the matching event. Do you not live in the Netherlands yet? Then you participate in an online matching event.
There is no opportunity to view the living space, but there are videos showing the living spaces. Measuring the living space is also not possible, all living spaces are already floored.
Questions about the housing types
No, apartments are only allowed for 2 people. You may live alone in a studio or room.
Please make sure that at least one of you is studying or will be studying full-time on the TUe campus or is a PhD or PDeng (first tenant). The second resident must follow a full-time study in the Netherlands. For PhD students and PDeng: The second resident may also be a legal partner (a marriage or registered partnership recognized in the Netherlands and registered in the BRP).
When the first tenant moves and the second tenant is not studying on the TU/e campus, the second tenant must also leave the apartment. Takeover of the contract is not possible by the second tenant if the second tenant's study is not located on the TU/e campus.
No, it's an open space. There is a partial partition, but the space cannot be completely closed off. The apartments have a dividing wall between the living room and the bedroom. The furnished apartments have a double bed.
No, that is not allowed. Only the apartments are for 2 people.
During the matching events, the residents choose a room themselves and with whom they will live together. This allows residential groups to be created where both men and women live.
The kitchen of the common room includes an electric stove and extractor fan.
The kitchen includes for the furnished studios an electric stove, extractor fan, microwave oven and fridge with freezer.
Unfurnished studios include an electric stove and extractor fan.
The kitchen includes for the furnished apartments an electric stove, extractor fan, microwave oven and fridge with freezer.
Unfurnished apartments include an electric stove and extractor fan.
Questions about the contract
We agree on a campus contract. That means you can continue to live in your room/studio/apartment for the time you are studying full-time on the TUe campus.
You can find the rental price and maximum service costs on the pages about the housing types. For group homes, studios, apartments.
You can apply for rent allowance if your rent does not exceed € 879.66 (price level 2024). Your income is also taken into account. Are you between 18 and 23 years old? Then your rent may not exceed € 454.47.
PLEASE NOTE: housing allowance is not only based on the rent. Your personal situation also plays a role in this. Visit https://www.government.nl/topics/housing/rented-housing/applying-for-housing-benefit for more information. Here you can also make a test calculation.
If you are under 23 years old, different rent allowance limits apply than if you are over 23 years old. To ensure that the rent is appropriate so that it is possible to apply for housing allowance, we temporarily reduce the basic rent. When you turn 23, we will adjust the rent back to the normal rent. You will then still have the option to receive housing allowance. We only do this at the studios.
We use September 1, 2024 as the reference date to calculate your age for this.
Only after all matching events have taken place we can start making the rental agreements. We expect to start in July.
You will receive your rental agreement before you get the key. Check it carefully, and return it signed by the specified deadline. Your lease will take effect on the move-in date.
The date of the time slot you choose to move in will also be the start date of your rental agreement. There are limited places available per day. The time slots will be made available after all matching events have taken place.
You return the signed version of your rental agreement. You have received an attachment explaining how to add your signature to a PDF document. You can also return the completed form to indicate which form of payment you want to use (digital acceptance mail or direct debit).
We cannot offer a solution for the interim period.
Residents of Haven rent the accommodation with a campus contract. This means that you do not have a fixed end date in your contract. You can continue to live as long as you are still studying full-time or are a PhD/PDeng at the TUe campus. When you have finished studying or are no longer a PhD/PDeng, you must leave the accommodation.
Questions about delivery and moving in
The move-in period for Haven is from the 5th until the 25th of August. To structure the move-inperiod, we work with time slots to be reserved.
The chosen time slot is also the startdate of your tenancy agreement. During a time slot (08.30 - 13.30 or 13.00 - 18.00) you pick up your key and you have the opportunity to move your belongings into your new home.
Haven will provide moving materials to support and speed up the moving in. From June 20 to June 28, 5 p.m. you can choose a time slot. You will receive an e-mail with a link from us on June 20. If you don’t choose a time slot a time slot will be assigned.
You pick up your key at 'The Hangout' during your time slot. You will find The Hangout in the low-rise building (Terra). You can read more about this in the newsletter.
You can enter the house straight away and you don't have to do any DIY. It is not allowed to paint the concrete walls in the accommodation. A picture skirting board has been installed to hang something on the wall. Drilling into the walls yourself to hang something is not permitted.
