Wayward Souls #.5

Force of Nature

Rate this book
Love—an unparalleled force of nature. Conservation Officer, Finley McKay, isn’t a stranger to criticism. Taking risks to protect delicate ecosystems doesn’t impress most people—including the doctor renting the cabin beside hers. The man’s arrogant, opinionated and far too sexy in his faded jeans and tees. She already knows he’s an ass—she just wished it mattered enough to make her keep her distance. Dr. Coen Brady isn’t looking to fit in. Having recently retired from the military, he’s hoping to spend a few months hiding from the world in a small, out-of-the-way town in northern Washington. But just his luck, he has the misfortune of running into his next-door neighbor. A girl who seems determined to get herself killed before his time there is up. She’s reckless, stubborn and slowly driving him insane. When anger morphs into angry sex, Coen knows taking her to bed is a calculated risk—one he might regret when her investigation turns deadly, leaving Finley’s life hanging in the balance. Breaking a few rules to keep her in the game doesn’t seem that dangerous, until it becomes painfully obvious she won’t stop until justice is served—even if the price is her life.

About the author

Kris Norris

Kris sees herself as somewhat obsessive and feels she tends to push the boundaries of common sense sometimes. Her friends graciously see her as passionate and adventurous. After all, speed limits are only a guideline and shouting is just her way of rising above the chaos. Kris loves the outdoors. If she's not on her computer— or chasing after her three kids— she's out on a trail somewhere, either running with her dog or riding her mountain bike. Kris took up adventure racing a few years ago, and tries to enter one or two races every year. Kris started writing some years back, and it took her a while to realize she wasn’t destined for the padded room, and the voices chattering away in her head were really other characters trying to take shape. (And since they weren’t telling her to conquer the human race, she went with it.) Kris loves writing erotic novels. She loves heroines who kick butt, heroes who are larger than life, and sizzling sex scenes that make you squirm in your seat, and leave you feeling just a bit breathless.

Dr. Coen Brady is helping out in the local clinic and looking forward to peace and quiet after his retirement from the military. After meeting his next-door neighbor, Finley McKay, he knows that peace is the last thing he will find. Finley is a conservation officer and is deadly serious about stopping the illegal trapping of animals. When she is injured releasing a trap, Coen insists on taking care of her injury. There is an immediate attraction between the two as sparks fly whenever they are together. I loved the characters…Finley is a stubborn and passionate woman who wants to find the men responsible for her brothers’ death, while Coen’s protective streak insists that Finley avoid taking unnecessary risks. The love scenes between the two are smoking hot as Finley and Coen dance around their feelings for each other. Danger will stalk Finley as the men who killed her brother plan to silence her for good. An amazing story full of action, suspense, danger and romance. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)

Finley, and Coen showed up in Delta Force: Colt. It was mentioned somewhere that they had their own book so since they interested me - plus I do enjoy reading this author - I went looking for it to buy and read. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I already had a copy in my tbr mountain and that it had been languishing there for several years. *red faced* Time to dig it out and get it read!

I found a very nice story. I liked the premise. The characters were fun and interesting. Good job. Sorry I took so long to read it.

Good read

I really enjoyed this book. Coen met Finley when they had cabins next to each other. Finley gave up her abstinence when he gave her a kiss. He being a Dr. He wanted to fix her hand that had been caught in a trap, while rescuing a Lynx.

Good Read

Sad that I will have to wait awhile, probably, before there will be another 'Wayward Souls' novel out - hoping it will be Gib or Dungeon books😚😁!

Kris Norris has delivered another fast-paced, action-filled, emotional romance I couldn't stop reading. Ms. Norris has a knack for making you laugh one moment then literally blinking back tears the next. I fell in love with Coen - he was strong yet caring, and perfect hero material, in my opinion. Finley was a strong woman but, at the same time fragile. Her character was the one that stuck with me long after I read the last page. I'm very much hoping Ms. Norris gives us Jonah's (Finley's partner) story. He was a brilliant secondary character, and I desperately want him to get HIS happily ever after. Force of Nature was an amazing read, and it will be one I come back to again and again.
