I have a sample of this fragrance and I´ve been testing it today. I really get the main notes in this - ylang-ylang (or the "yellow flowers" element, which you can find in Poeme by Lancome, for example) and the coconut one - nice and creamy. I also get the powder - there is definitely a little bit of make-up, or compact powder note to it and it´s really nice. The fragrance is sweet and powdery. The opening is slightly soapy. Overall it´s a really beautiful, comfy scent. I do agree with one of the comments below that points out the pink-powdery effect. It doesn´t really remind me of Powder Flower by Montale or Iris by L´Erbolario. In terms of longevity and sillage it´s really not weak. I had only few sprays but I´ve been getting the scent trail here and there from time to time. I may not buy a full bottle immediately but in future, I may do so at some point.
As a collector of powdery perfumes, this one represents a different take at classic baby-powderish scents (the coconut makes it somehow different. The ylang ylang, too). Also, it has a little bit of that plastic note that makes it somehow special. I don´t mind it may evoke plastic toys or barbies at times. :) it´s really lovely.

Perfect cold days companion. Very likeable. Powdery-pink in effect. It makes me happy. It is pretty, warm, cheerful, comforting, slightly exotic. Reminiscent of parfumed powder with its fluffy softness. Not very complex but there is nothing ugly in the composition. No ambiguity, no harsh feelings.

my first Montale! was so excited for this house as i keep looking for something with really impressive sillage, and it is impressing me easily! the scent is unique in my collection even though i love powders and have others, it feels more soapy to me? maybe cause its so pungent i just dont associate it with powder. its like a powder-scented soap though the name is not misleading at all dont worry! but one other thing, i dont get this at all after a while, but on first spray/sniffing the bottle it smells like a japanese gummy candy...lychee i think. definitely more soapy than candy i dont want to mislead the candy lovers ^^; just a nice note i picked up on!

very safe blind buy, already adore and trust this house, cant wait to get some more <3

edit 04/05/23: the other night while putting new stock away at work, I caught a whiff of something and had a revelation about Orchid Powder. it was a box of tide pods. smelled *exactly* like the soapy top note here. I know this sounds disparaging to Montale but it didn't alter my love for it in the least - just found it very interesting!

This smells DIVINE!
I can’t stop sniffing my wrist, it smells like 90’s compact powder which is something I really enjoy and puts me in a great mood.
So it’s a very successful blind buy for me and hopes this description helps with yours :)

Performance is excellent all around.

EDIT: After using it repeatedly, I must admit that I got quite bored with it!
when the opening passes it becomes very linear and I like a fragrance that I look forward to its changing stages but if that's not a problem for you then give it a try it's very soft, clean, and warm and can be great for laying I guess but unfortunately, I'm too lazy for that, I need my perfumes to be grabbed and sprayed on the go 😁

The opening was stunning. Like a yellow floral, lactonic, tropical dream ! But as it dried down… it became worse and worse and worse…

It dried down as the same sweet plastic smell of a doll house I had as a child. It smells like playing with Barbies. Not that it’s bad but… I’m 30. I’m beyond barbies now 🤣

Wouldn’t recommend.

I loved the first note of this fragrance! However, after around 30 minutes from its application, it started resembling the smell of the toys I used to play with as a little girl, something like the baby doll's hair and face. It's really hard to explain... It's not that I don't like this fragrance because it seems quite familiar and nice, but it's not exactly what I'm going for with my perfume :D

This is exactly what it is named. Orchid Powder. I was hoping for more Ylang Ylang and coconut. I blind bought a bottle, tested it for about 4 hours before showering. No Oud DNA in this one. It’s powdery, like a clean baby powder but instead of the typical rose based baby powder it’s a slightly sweet orchid based baby powder. Gets better and smoother with the dry down although for a Montale 4 hours isn’t enough to get the true dry down. I could have gave it more of a wear test but I prefer Sweet Oriental Dream, Intense Tiare and I’m trying to cut down on my collection. If it would have had more Ylang Ylang or Coconut I would have been all in. It would be better if you layer it with a coconut banana Ylang Ylang type fragrance or lotion.

All the notes here are my favourite ones. But somehow, this fragrance smells like burned plastic to me. There is nothing else, no coconut, no ylang ylang, no orchid...just weird artificial plastic smell. Unfortunately, this was a scrubber for me.

2 stars in this fragrance: orchid and ylang ylang. It is a warm and cosy scent. Very sweet, more for cold days to my opinion.

Много дамски аромат. Бях изненадана, че беше забелязан положително от трима мъже в един ден. Отварянето му е малко остро, но трае кратко.

SailorV

One of those scents where I like the drydown much more than the opening.
In the first moments Orchid Powder is very focused on the ylang ylang, which smells nice and creamy with the other florals, but unfortunately also has a harsh, artificial undertone that reminds me of a room freshener.

The drydown smells synthetic in a good way. Like some other reviewers mentioned, it is reminiscent of girly 90s toys. To me it's not quite Barbie's hair, when I smell it I think of the My Little Ponies I liked to play with as a child, with an extra dose of powder. Sweet, vanillic and like plastic. Very nostalgic and cute. I often get a plastic doll skin accord from heliotrope and some vanilla fragrances, but in Orchid Powder it's more obvious than in many other scents. Besides that I also get a note that makes me think of a coconut and vanilla cake. I think development of this perfume depends on skin temperature, when I was dressed warmer it became more gourmand than usual.

This is intense at first and then extremely long-lasting as a skin scent, I always needed to shower to get the last residues off my skin.

Whoever said this smells like Barbie doll hair hit the nail on the head! It smells exactly like that sweet, powdery, slightly vanilla plastic smell of a doll. And more specifically, the hair.
Orchid is usually the culprit when it comes to plastic scents (in a good way). There is also likely some jasmine in here, and a powder note giving it some more oomph. It becomes more powdery and less fruity-sweet as it dries. It has quite a lot of intensity for a powdery scent. Orchid Powder definitely shares the DNA of Powder Flowers, and could be a sweeter, more youthful relative of Teint de Neige.

AmoreProfumi

Weird scent not terrible just weird..don't love it, but don't particualry hate it..catching a subtle waft of it is nice but putting my nose right to my skin I get that plastic baby doll head smell..powdery big time & imo leans slightly more feminine, overall not a bad scent but there are better Montales..gave the sample to my momma think she'll enjoy more so then me..

Kots_Tanya

The best I can describe this scent is that it totally smells and reminds me of Barbie doll hair, sweet plastics.
Not my cup of tea.

aspirina

I get 2 hours of talcum powder with a strong note of coconut and a touch of lime, some abstract flowers, spoon of sugar, more talcum, bit of lavender...very feminine, skin scent, then gone after 3 hours. I like it ok but not full bottle worthy at its current price, there are many other scents with similar structure and better performance.

Rafail

Clean soapy Powdery orchid for 2 hours after smell like sweet candy

Majja67

A mix of Vera Wang Princess and Tom Ford Black Orchid minus the patchouli. I don’t get so much sweetness, only flowers with hints of fruits and chocolate. Nice but i prefer the other two.

Mrscent

This is a very beautiful fragrance, but I think it suits women more than men...a true masterpiece!

austekrc

I bought a sample atomiser to test it on my wrist before buying a whole bottle - well it appeared to be too sweet and overpowering for my nose. Although, after a few washes the smell turned to be more pleasant, when only the powdery notes were left, without that annoying sweetness. I recommend to test it first, as it can be too sweet for powder lovers :)

blake.lee

Not my dream fragrance, but it's pleasant. There's a strong citrus top note not listed here very prominent at first spritz, but disappears into the cloud of powder sweetness. This is very powdery in the same vein as Valentina Poudre by Valentino. I tested them together and Orchid Powder is more floral where Valentina Poudre is more vanilla, but they are soul sisters none the less. There is a light candyish orchid in Orchid Powder, but the white florals are more prominent than orchid. I smell jasmine and gardenia more than orchid vanilla. The ylang ylang is here, but it only adds a touch of yellow warmth in the drydown. The coconut is more like sugared coconut water than tropical suntan lotion coconut. Overall, I would describe this as a very sweet and powdery white floral scent with a light coconut and ylang ylang background. I also tested it next to Sensuous Nude by EL and Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez (white bottle) and compared to them Orchid Powder smelled like sugared coconut and baby powder and made the woods in those two really pop. If there is oud in this composition it's practically nonexistent when compared to those two woody, powdery compositions.

I don't think I'll purchase this since I own bottle of Valentina Poudre and Coco Extreme by Comptoir Sud Pacifique. I think with two sprays of Valentina Poudre and one light spray of Coco Extreme I could make a fragrance relatively close to Orchid Powder.

Update: Wore my sample to work tonight and when my manager was near me he laughed and said, "You smell like a baby today!" not really what I want to portray...

Sharks

Initial thoughts - a sibling to Powder Flowers! Definitely more of a powdery fragrance than a tropical/beachy one. I can sense the coconut and a vanillic orchid within a powdery, plush base.

anna.glowacka

As somebody before me said: 'the notes look wonderful'. Unfortunately they are not what they look like. I get enormous blast of oud and jasmine. The scent is somehow fresh yet heavy. I can't call it pleasant for my nose. Traces of oud destroyed it for me. I was hoping for coconut and ylang but here i haven't found them.

LanaD

I really want this fragarane. The notes looks wonderful!

blake.lee

I've put myself on a no buy until this one gets some reviews. Someone please stop my misery and tell me if this is my dream fragrance or not! It has all the right notes...
