anyone has a bottle they'd like to swap in the EU, for something off my shelf?

hhalklah

Imagine the intoxicating scent of clean leather, refreshed with a spritz of cassis-based cleaner—a dark and addictive aroma that captivates the senses. Suddenly, you're transported to a world of luxury, surrounded by hyper-expensive antique furniture, leather bags, and fur coats, all waiting to be auctioned off. It's a sensory experience that evokes the essence of opulence and elegance.

Marzepam

Duro opens with basement notes (similar to Absinth) and keeps it about 1h. Then woods with very little musk and patchouli come out. It’s really a library adventure. Not sweet, nor mass pleaser, nor easy to wear but very interesting to smell. Sure not a blind buy. Very much depends on skin chemistry.

thainan.noronha

Imagine a library in an old castle or palace furnished with waxed hardwood tables and shelves and armchairs covered in worn leather; that's the scent I perceive here. Some say that the leather note is the protagonist, but honestly, I feel more of a punch of dense and dark woods, perhaps ebony or mahogany, along with a very medicinal oud (reminding me of the oud used by Montale), with a background, yes, of aged leather mixed with an earthy patchouli and a somewhat dirty musk. I don't sense many spices, maybe in the opening, making the perfume start with a chord that somewhat resembles an alcoholic beverage, maybe saffron? I can't say for sure, as it quickly disappears, leaving this blend of aged leather with dark woods. I believe those who enjoy fragrances like Ombre Leather will appreciate this one, although this one is more challenging due to its less sweet nuances and more animalic ones. This animalic accord is, I believe, due to the mixture of aged leather with medicinal oud and musk, not making the perfume too difficult or dirty, but you have to enjoy the proposal because it's a serious and somber perfume, going in the same direction (in terms of occasions and "atmosphere") as Encre Noire and other dark fragrances. I don't recommend blind buying it under any circumstances, but I do recommend that those who enjoy the concept of closed, virile, and dark fragrances get to know this one. It's certainly the perfume that the Terminator would wear.

1 word, Perfect👌❤️

MrMrBrian

I have had my bottle for a little over 5 years and having all of them I like it more than Pardon I never had nothing bad to say..However Later on I ended up Buying one called Al Haramain Oud 36 & thought it was pretty pathetic that I really like that fragrance more..For the fact I think it’s strikingly similar & cheaper & 100ml & an amazing atomizer & bottle with a magnetic cap & box & juice that last longer on skin , I could keep going!! I revisited my bottle of Pardon for the 1st time in a long time & didn’t expect to be underwhelmed by a 5 year old bottle of that either…I’m sticking to His Orto Parisi line..They are truly masterpieces that maybe these Nassomatos once where! I just hope Those don’t end up weak & watered down in the future

Olehkopystko

Imo have similarities with pardon, but it didn't bring me emotions, if it wasn't artistic, it would be in ok shelf

KingKilo

It's a very strong, almost overpowering fragrance at first. When you apply it, the leather notes hit hard. It's an engine being turned on, it's sexy and masculinity. When it cools down, you get a subtle hint of sweetness. It's luxury, honeyed leather, dusted with cocoa, tobacco.
If I had to guess the notes, I'd say: agarwood, cedar, coumarin, leather, musk, patchouli, amber.
Maybe flecked by vanilla?

Definitely a keeper.

Parfumadict.

Leather... Clean leather spritzed with a cassis based cleaner.... It's addictive, dark. Suddenly I get the feeling of being surrounded by all those hyper expensive antique furniture, leather bags & fur coats about to be auctioned. They belonged to a royalty lord from the house of "Take me and make me yours"...

adamfitz

Smelled this when i was in parfumarija in dublin and was extremely tempted to buy it, by far my favourite nasomatto and recently bought a full bottle. A very sexy but also sophisticated leather scent that smells quite sweet for the first hour or so and then dries down into a dark-ish resinous and woody leather scent. Absolutely incredible and performance is relatively strong, lasts about all day on my skin and projects quite strong.

deusaderit

The first time i smelt this, i was trying out many of the nasomattos and some other fragrances. Out of all the ones i tested, i always came back to smell duro, and couldnt help but compare them to this masterpiece. What distinguishes duro from other woodsy fragrances is the extremely dirty, masculine and very chemical wood thats in this. It reminds me of moldy wood thats been treated with some chemicals. The mold fades and you get a spice bomb, a perfect balance between freshness and warmth. No doubt this is a statement and very artistic fragrance.

alyce

I was immediately reminded of Fire by The Maker. Try that one out if you like this. Duro has the same resinous quality, perhaps olibanum, though it's not listed in the notes here. Bit of gasoline on the top, in a somehow pleasant way.

This is really sexy and lovely. I'm a woman and I'm enjoying wearing it very much. Though I would say this leans masculine of center (especially in the base), it's still unisex; women can definitely pull it off. I picture a hot confident woman with a black cat eye smokey liner. Chic grunge. Ya know?

Michavl

It starts out smelling exactly like tiger balm for me, which I don’t mind. As it ages throughout the hours it turns into a more smooth leathery scent combined with something that almost reminds me of dried citruses.

There’s no challenging smells to this perfume in my opinion, it’s just a bit unusual (as usual :p)

xvxmatthewxvx

opening is bergamot quickly transitioning to leather & minty vanilla wood that smells like palo santo, touches of Benzoin & ambroxan, reminds me of Tom of Finland by Eldo

For me this perfume was a blind buy. I just felt I would like it from the reviews I read. Never smelled it before.
My 1st impression when I got it, was a bit of a disappointment. It was sweeter than I though and for my taste. Something like sandalwood probably. Not long after the 1st puff, the sweetness left and it was a very leathery scent. A bit of a mix of old leather jacket or belt and old books. I liked it cus this is what I was looking for. Then, after not long, let's say half and hour, I was shocked thaat I couldn't feel anything. I was upset and angry cus I though maybe it's even fake or something. But in the same time I thought maybe it just went into my nose and got used and cannot feel it anymore. Anyway, after another half an hour, I smelled my skin again and again I was shocked cus I could feel it again. But this time had a different scent. It was something like leather, fur, old books and civet. The civet was the most predominant. Was almost at the point that I was feeling that it smells too much fecal. But that was very short and soon it had a mix of old leather jacket, old books, fur, a bit smokey, even a lil bit earthy as in moss or actual soil and also animalic. For me, a very nice and equilibrated scent. It stayed like this without changing for actually quiet a long time, I'd say around 14 hours. At the end, I was surprised that I could feel besides the leathery scent, also the 1st kinda sweet smell

Odor Aeternitatis

Upon spraying Duro, the first scent that hit me was patchouli. This fragrance is heavy in patchouli, and it is not a refined patchouli, it's a raw and wild type of patchouli. Along with patchouli, there are also woody accords present in the fragrance. It's slightly sweet with a resinous sweetness and has a leathery and masculine feel.
It blends very well and could be a great signature scent for special or business meetings when you want to stand out. However, based on my experience, a rich and complex scent like this could get boring if used routinely. The fragrance isn't too loud but could be attractive to those around you.

For a while now I was racking my brain, thinking that when Duro dries down, it bears uncanny similarity to another perfume. Finally, it hit me: Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee. Both are wonderful, but after an hour or so, Duro loses some of its initial uniqueness and turns into a lipsticky scent.

dudebro

I love Nasomatto (esp. Pardon, Fantomas, BA) but Duro falls short, becoming a flacid skin scent quickly after application. it doesn't enhance any of my manifestations of masculinity :(

Aoud Musk > Duro

Watchthethrone

Aoud musk is SOAPY MEDICINAL OUD IF YOU LOVE OUD THEN GET IT

Duro nasomatto smells 1000x better than aoud musk.

Formula1

Very addicting. Smells really good. I get the woods and leather. One of the best of the Nasomattos I have tried.

Bvlgariman2010

Has that Nasomatto smell however it does not have the Nasomatto power. Pardon but a little different. I like it but it’s too weak for a full bottle. Not the same nuclear performance like black afghano pardon or Blamage. 7.5/10

atticus1990

Smells like a new pair of shoes, a nice smell but I dont see myself wearing it.
I dont see this as only a winter fragrance, its fully usable in the other seasons as well just go easy on the sprays.

Performance is good.

konchokjenpa

Finally got around to wearing my sample the other day. Obsessed. Not getting much in the way of leather and I wouldn't call this leather forward. It is woody and smoky, with sandalwood, which I associate with incense, though many probably wouldn't call this an incense scent. Underneath that there's a slightly animalic musk and probably some oud. The musk makes it very masculine but the sandalwood dominance, to my nose, makes it different from the standard crop of masculine fragrances. On me it performed well, I could smell it all day and it didn't retreat to a skin scent at any point. Definitely getting the bottle.

Watchthethrone

Can be headache inducing if too much is applied
Great woody fragrance
Sillage didn’t work good on me, maybe because I was using a vial instead of spray

8/10 (spray would’ve been better)

Peegore

Agarwood and Leather.

Half an hour of shouting "Here I am" with a brief pepper/clove 'Spice' punch, then suddenly decides it doesn't like the attention, and collapses into a weakly projecting Leather/Wood skin scent with low sillage. Such a shame.

It's OK, but the public rating system above does not represent the fragrance being bottled today,

Hojubaby

This is very animalic, almost oud-y with the leather and woods, not really that good imo. Definitely prefer pardon over this with a similar but creamier and smoother scent structure.

MrMarkuson

I think this is one of my favorite leather scent, there are several ways to approach leather in perfumery, either by warm spices notes, animalic notes or fruity notes.

For those skeptical about fruity notes you can see Tuscan Leather, Soleil de Jeddah, Cuir majeste, Noble Leather...

DURO has definitely taken the way of warm spices and what stands out the most to my nose is a blend of Saffron and Patchouli which gives this warm note of woody/spicy leather, and everything that revolves around it is only there to strengthen this accord (this remains my personal perception of this perfume).

This is a very masculine and sophisticated fragrance, I think it's something quite modern in approach, the fragrance is a bit linear but not unpleasant and don't bother me with time (what can happen to me with other linear type of perfumes).

UncleThor

So I'm not usually a fan of animalic fragrances. My collection is primarily inoffensive fragrances without any "skank".

I'll admit, when I first tried Duro on a tester strip in a store, my immidiate reaction was "whoa, there!". It packs a punch, and it does not hold back on that initial spray. However, I got a sample of this a bit later, and decided to try it on skin, to get the full experience. And boy, once this juice gets to settle down on the skin, it is pure class. It is a heavy leather sofa with varnished mahogany in a gentlemans club. The beauty of this fragrance is in the air, not when you stick your nose on a tester strip. It just exudes confidence and class, and it makes me feel great.

The feedback on this has been amazing as well, as it does not go unnoticed. Just remember - wear this with confidence, or it will wear you. Preferably in at least an upscale casual or semi-formal outfit. And for the love of god - do not overspray, because this is Potent stuff! Best worn on a chilly evening.

RGH01

Duro is an animalistic beauty - it’s rugged, masculine and dirty without being offensive or overly challenging. It’s pretty linear from the get go as the fragrance doesn’t seem to change much over time, however that doesn’t mean it lacks depth or complexity.

Unfortunately official notes aren’t listed by Nasomatto, however this is an incredible leather scent with woody and animalistic notes, I mainly get oud and maybe civet/castoreum. Unidentified warm spices in the base round off the scent and smooth the edges of the harsher leather and woods.

Duro is very dark and bold with a lot of character, this fragrance is unapologetic and loud. It will definitely get you noticed and is a confidence boosting scent, however I’m unsure how appealing it would be to others. Regardless, this scent is very high quality as expected from Nasomatto and one of their most underrated releases.

xillage

Duro smells more like Dehnal Oud with tinge of Leather mixed with Boozy fruity sweetness.

6.5/10

Ilikewhatilike

Masculine woody and I get a touch of smoke on my skin (might be the leather or some of the spices). I’m happy that the leather doesn’t go animalic. I could wear this.

MoodyTomato

it smells like old abandoned wooden house to me and it brings sense of nostalgy and adoration

dwt

I didn't have a strong positive or negative feeling toward this fragrance, but my experience did lean slightly negative due to the persistent medicinal quality.
It's sort of a boozy wood scent with a distinct medicinal smell, and that doesn't change much from the opening to the deep dry down. It just eventually fades away without ever evolving or revealing additional layers.

WSIBWAOY

Don't trust how this smells on paper or sniffing the bottle. On paper, it smells downright nasty medicinal (first dominant note), synthetic, offensive, way too strong, and off-putting. And on paper, it stays as such for a very long time, without developing. Just downright off-putting. Smells pretty bad.

But try it on male skin and it's a different story. Perhaps not for all, but for some I see how it can be super attractive. It's still effing nasty and hospital-like on skin, just like on paper, for the first 15-30 minutes, but then it develops and softens up quite quick. Becomes indeed woody, leathery (in a nice way, not like car leather or armchair leather or something, which, as much as I like those smells, I wouldn't want to smell on a person, let alone myself), manly, a bit smoky, and a tiny bit of unwashed dirty male skin scent, but in a good way - like after physical effort. And well blended. Not sweet, not "fresh", not flowery, not ambery, no frills, no amusement. Just straight up dry, right in your face dominance.

Its not at all for women. I've heard about some women buying it, but just no.

sachabaylinstern

Chuck Norris has a mug of Duro instead of coffee in the morning.

robin1234

Duro is a man's fragrance.. Raw, Masculine and "I'm the boss" aura unapologetically...

420

There are fragrances that are nice, everyday people pleasers. There are then fragrances that are great, amazing works of art. Then there are fragrances that are on another level.
Duro is on a level of its own.
It’s so addictive to me, intoxicating wood and leather.
Truely amazing this fragrance is a masterpiece, seriously.
There aren’t many fragrances that make me feel as confident as I do wearing this.
16/10

Jitterbug

Duro smells like you've wrestled Minotaur and won.

MarkFL

Opens with the smell of Dr Pepper. The syrup. Very nice, not exactly gourmand, because the wood is just as prominent. Slowly the spices drop, sweetness from the Dr Pepper syrup stays and leather enters. Dries down to leather, woods, with a nice sweetness. Fantastic, much more wearable than the reviews suggest. Signature scent worthy for the bold. Last forever and projects like a beast. Two sprays max any time anywhere

Cletus Lorentz

very stringent woods and little bit of spices, but to my nose this is all about the woods. Not sure what kind of woods is most dominant here, probably some kind of synthetic mahogany, ebony, ceder, oud mix. It is very unique in its scent profile. You will get noticed, but I think more in a statement making than a crowd pleasing way. Aoud Musk from Montale is the only one I have tried with a similar woodsy note, but this one is much more stringent and linear and higher quality. Where the Montale has a lot more going on Duro is all about this one cocky woodsy statement making accord. I like it, but will not find enough occasions to wear it to buy a full bottle. Will save my decant to wear it on some kind of hip art vernissage.

retroniche

A perfect mixture of overdose mahagony and patchouli well blended with woodsy ambers. As I first met this perfume in Bologne Italy in a small niche perfume shop, my nose wasn't trained enough to appreciate its depth and complexity and I thought it smells like a very luxurious furniture shop, but as the time passed on and after I tried multiple perfumes with the same mahagony-amber duo in the center (Montale Aoud Musk, Jul et Mad Garuda, Armani Privée Myrhh Imperial) I started to be able to appreciate the true beauty of this unique master piece better. It's definitely a statement fragrance but at the same time makes you feel very cozy and comfortable. This has become my first choice for business meetings ever since, or where I am invited to make a speech at evening events.

Sophist_Niche

This wonderful perfume smells like pure sophisticated luxury and gives you such an exquisite feeling right from first sniff on as if you were sitting in you tailor made luxury vehicle with all these mahagony interior accessories and leather seats. It is linear yes, but thanks to that marvelous combiation of amber-wood-patcouli and spices, you never get rid of that linearity even for the 9 hour straight longeivity of that beautiful and exclusive sexy fragrance.

Smooth

Duro is woody, spicy, and leathery.
The woods smell like cedarwood and maybe a bit of sandalwood.
The spices I get are cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, and saffron.
Maybe there could be laurel leaves that give a bit of a medicinal feel.
The leather is kind of soft and oily. Probably saffron gives the leathery qualities.
I also get some incense or oud feel that gives some airy feel.
It's not very sweet but there are some syrupy vanillic rum touches.
The woods here are more on the dry side but they get moist from a bit of chocolaty patchouli.

There are some similarities to Zadig & Voltaire - This is Him of course minus the grapefruity opening.
The woody peppery incense vanilla is in the same territory. Of course, Duro is fuller and better blended.
Another scent that Duro reminds me of is Commes Des Garcons - Wonderoud.
It shares a similar woody-spicy-patchouli feel but Duro is way thicker and oilier.

The longevity and sillage are very good.
Beautiful scent for a cloudy or rainy day.

fanisgk

i get zero leather. Only spices and the refreshing and sweet facets of Creed Royal Oud. Its really nice. Worth the money

WGG

Duro reminds me of Halfeti, which has a strong opening with great promise, leather/wood in the mid but then turns a bit sour and puts me off. Duro has more smoke in the opening, similar sort of mid then a sweeter drydown. These differences are subtle but its funny how much difference it makes. This might be a challenging fragrance for some but I'm enjoying my sample which may yet turn into an FB, despite the price tag.
3.5/5

Franklypre

Ideal scent for a business meeting, has a certain seriousness to it for sure. Not a scent to be rocked with flip flops and shorts

Seuni

Most reviewers say this is a statement of a fragrance, and I agree. But a lot of them also say this is a dry woody harsh fragrance.

I expected something like the synthetic bitter af mess like Encore Noire, but no. There's a lot of dry, dark, a bit bitter patchouli wood (it always remind me of a pet store, and here it also does, but it's not that strong fortunately), incense, but not very strong and far from being churchy - it mixes with the woods to make them dark, but it's not so synthetic, bitter, harsh and dry as in Encre. It smells like a dark, mossy, wet, exotic wood. There's also a lot of leather in here, but it's not sour - it's clean, dry, old leather - like a leather suitcase that's been locked for 50 years in an attic. This is dark, this is gothic, but it's not a mess, it's not synthetic, harsh, bitter or just straight up repulsive.

There is NO top note. It just goes straight to the bottom to the big players. This will be great for a darker day, like cloudy, maybe rainy, chilly or cold. Autumn, winter, but not sunny.

Absolutely not office safe, there's going to be a lot of people that will consider this too strong and masculine. It's one of those fragrances that people smell you and they assume you're the boss, dangerous instead of bad boy dangerous. You mean it, you terrify, you're THE guy. Even if you're the brightest person ever if given a chance to be met.

This lasts 7h on my skin, but doesn't project - projects for 1 foot maybe for an hour, then maaaybe leaves a nice sillage. Do not blind buy if you don't like patchouli, dark wood, and incense.

This is like Pardon was an introduction being a bit sweeter, chocolaty and this being a level up in masculinity, darkness, and woods. Consider this a Pardon on steroids.

Ps. I have to add one more thing. Calling this an extrait is a cheeky move IMHO - the box says 80%vol, so this concentration by most is considered an eau de parfum. It lasts 7h on my skin and I think y'all get influenced by the price and 'extrait' on the box. This is not even close to what Nishane does with their approach to extrait.

Andy the Frenchy

Very nice spicy/woody/musky thing. Hard to describe.
I made a side-by-side wearing of both Duro and Montale Aoud Musk, and can only say that I will give a small win to Duro in the top, while in the base Duro is slightly woodier, while AM is slightly spicier - and I might give a small win to the Montale in the drydown (!!!). Truth is that I'd probably fail a blind test.
I paid ~$75 for 30ml and love it, but can't imagine myself spending more on that one, in view of the very strong similarities with Montale Aoud Musk (~$70 for 100ml), both in scent and performance, and the fact that Duro is a overall a high-end utilitarian scent, more than a 'staged' fragrance that tells a story.
Would only recommended if one can find it under $100, and even though, I'm not sure why one shouldn't opt for the Montale, which is REALLY close.

DPerfumes

Smells like a dark dense wood. Definitely think it’s oud, and followed by a linear path. This is enjoyable and quite manly!

Alireza.D2

Definitely brings you many compliments.

First off, MaxAroma and Jomashop have great deals on this right now. It's a terrific creamy leather scent with hints of spice and a smooth wear. Slightly sweet, synthetic and extremely masculine, it's perfect for all seasons but for summer, where lighter scents tend to fare better. The quality, potency and blend are all first rate, making Duro the underrated gem of the Nasomatto line. I cannot get enough of this right now.

pearsonkatie

Draws a lot of compliments. When it dries it Smells absolutely wonderful. I just spray each side of my neck and a little on my clothes and I'm good to go all day. Pricey but so worth it. As I've recently discovered niche Parfums they're so worth the money. I wish I knew about niche Parfums when I started collecting colognes. Love this.

Crashaw

This is an excellent, very unusual scent.

I don't understand half the reviews of it. There's nothing obnoxious or in-your-face about this perfume. Duro may suggest self-assurance, impassivity and total poise. And it may have an insistence that - with this quality of execution - can't be resisted. But despite its authority, it is more than flexible enough to wear casually and even in warmer weather. And I don't see why younger people couldn't wear this.

But it is very unusual and I can understand why many tastes would reject it. If you're reading this page hyping yourself for your next purchase, sample it first.

I highly recommend it. The only reason I rate it 4 rather than 5 is that after the first couple of hours it dies back dramatically: I wish it projected further; but it does hold on stubbornly as a skin scent.

darkstarcrashes

Opens with leathery Dr. Pepper. Over time, the Dr. Pepper accord mellows out and Duro settles into a more traditional leather scent. It reminds me of getting into a luxury SUV with a leather interior, but not one you're familiar with. There's a syrupy sweetness that lasts through the entirety of the fragrance that I really enjoy. When I was a kid, the concessions stand at our local ice rink had a slushie machine called a Slush Puppie. I haven't thought about Slush Puppies in 15 years, but for some reason the sweetness in Duro reminded me of the distinct watermelon Slush Puppie syrup. Weird, I know.

Duro is masculine, but not nearly as hyper-masculine, dark, gothic, etc as I was expecting. It's much more in line with Ombre Leather, Tuscan Leather, etc. Pleasantly surprised, as I was expecting a dusty antique leather jacket. Very wearable.

meghanmendez

Very masculine and polarising perfume, starts strongly but ends with a Nice softly warm feeling. I like it very much. And relative long lasting and even more long lasting lf you apply on clothing

meadowbennett

This is one of my favourites fragrance. Very manly and strong. I saw a review where is saying that is light and nice. Well, not on my skin. This fragrance performance is 5 sickness hours projection, whith another 2-3h medium, and close to the skin for other 3. But, the people stop you on the street and ask you what you wearing, lots of compliments from mens or womens. For womens is a wild magnetic scent. PS: is for over 30 years old. For over 20 years old try Nasomatto Pardon - the romantic one.

mayasmith3

My partner and I love this line of fragrances! We were in Portugal last summer and wanted this particular one but the store was sold out. I was so happy when I found out you sold it!
Most of the fragrances with this brand (including this one) are quite strong and will last quite a while, so a little goes a long way in my opinion. Duro is my husbands new favourite along with his go to, Black Afgano (mine is definitely still Absinthe)! Would recommend to anyone for sure!

mayamorgan

Love this cologne. If you want to smell like a man then this is the cologne for you. It has notes of wood maybe cedar. Every time in wear it I get compliments about how good I smell. My wife and daughter always tell me how good it smells so my teenage son is always sneaking a squirt. One caveat though use it sparingly A little bit goes a long way. One half squirt is all I ever use and thats plenty. Anything more would be overpowering.

faisalalmansour

Dark, mysterious and gothic

Bergamet

On my skin Duro opens with burnt toffee and warm spices on a bed of robust woods. This isn't airy woods like in a forest, but thick woods like in a log cabin that has remained locked for 6 months. The sweetness fades slightly in the dry-down but the spices remain stable which helps to soften an otherwise intensely rugged profile. Leather is present but it's not a saffron-bomb. There is definitely something smokey that lingers once the sweet toffee note calms down. Is it roasted pistachio? Or maybe it's macadamia?

I'm an enormous fan of Baraonda but it's not really appropriate for the day. Duro may work better for daywear but it's still more of an evening and cool weather scent. The two layer very well with each other.

FlirtBoy

Standard woody-spicy-smoky and outdoorsy oriental...gentle and longlasting, there is distant similarity to Angel Schlesser pour Homme Oriental Edition but this one is smoother...nothing extravagant or "avantgarde" about it (maybe the price tag).

teh

Another amazing blind-buy for me despite being aware of all the overly critical negative reviews against nasomatto/alessandro gualtieri… Not as much leather or smoke as I expected but this is definitely very woody! It’s unique and synthetic but very cleverly blended in a way that it comes across really realistic and natural. It does have the distinctive nasomatto DNA similar to stuff like Black Afgano though I personally enjoy this one so much more! To me Duro is rather linear, with a slight touch of creamy sweetness in the opening and then straightaway completely woody in the dry down. The woody notes in Duro smell so modern and pristine, like a newly varnished wooden piece of contemporary furniture, which I find slightly harsh and intrusive occasionally, but again I don’t expect nasomatto to be all smooth or grounded. It also lingers for a really long time. I’m glad to have this in my collection though I don’t foresee myself wearing this at all at least in the near future

P/S: I get the similarity to Penhaligons Terrible Teddy as someone mentioned but most probably due to ambroxan in the dry down, though Terrible Teddy smells so much more like mass designer scent with outrageous price tag.

A.Bandini

At some point i abandoned Nasomatto fragrances all together. I owned BA, Pardon and Duro and sold them all earlier or sooner. BA was too much and too sweet, Pardon was basically a chocolaty patch bomb and i am not exactly a fan of patch heavy fragrances and Duro...well, at the end it was just not the kind of wood and leather i enjoyed. Its a dry and too spicy woods, a combo that i couldnt take for long so it got the boot aswell. Actually a prime example for how tastes and perceptions change over time. I used to enjoy them enough to buy full bottles of all three but things changed with each wearing.

A Beautifully Chic Perfume Made for MAJOR Metropolitan Areas

Not everyone will get this. Most folks will scratch their heads and pinch their noses confoundingly, wondering who on earth smells like that. But wear this in SoHo, Manhattan, for instance and right away, people will get it.

I say that because the primary job of this fragrance is not to smell good. This is not Bleu de Chanel, YSL Y, Sauvage, or Creed's Aventus for that matter. Those are made to "smell great". THIS, on the other hand, is a statement maker. This announces how avant garde one is. This let's everyone know that you aren't the status quo keeper and are fully "outside the box".

The NYC connection or the MAJOR metropolitan connection is: those are the places where droves of folks live outside the box and are avant garde and look to one up everyone with the "latest and greatest". So if you're a competent dresser (wearing this, you HAVE to look the part) and you apply this people will instantly get it and may even ask you what is it you're wearing so they
themselves can own it.

In a small town all i can imagine is everyone talking about how bad that guy in the store smelled.

alanwake

This is a carbon copy of Penhaligon'sTerrible Teddy, or vice versa, not really sure which came first. The Penhaligon's has ambroxan, which makes it a bit airier but it's the same exact scent. Duro might be the better smelling one of the two and is even cheaper considering Terrible Teddy is ridiculously priced.

cwavah

Sniffed this today, has a unique opening cant really tell if its woody ..but all in all its worth the buy

mimeex

Duro is very interesting. It smells very woodsy and leathery. Duro reminds of smelling my leather jacket with some woodsy feelings to it. You would say it's very masculine smelling. It has also some sweetnes to it. This scent is for confident people, you would definitely get notice with this scent, so your personality needs to fit to Duro. I find Duro very masculine, but women can also wear it, if they like it. I can picture a confident woman wearing this scent. The longevity is very last lasting on (7 hours+), on clothes even more. You will get notice for sure. 1 - 3 sprays are enough.

Chesco

Blind Buy bottle.
I really respect this innovative perfumer! Need to try everything he does.

The perfect description: Smells like a old dusty leather-bound book that was sitting on a old wooden bookshelf in a old library that just got freshly painted varnish.

It becomes less harsh from the 'varnish' note during the drydown and after letting the frag breathe, the bouquet unfolds and becomes more projecting & quiet beautiful with each passing hour!
Leans very masculine!

If you're a lover of any of those things, into books, antiques, furniture, journaling, spraying your books or journal before you open it, hipster, coffeeshop date, rainy day on the couch, world traveling via backpack or you are Indiana Jones this frag is for you.

It deserves to exist as a frag like this fills a scent genre, and the quality is superb, you wont find something like this in a designer retail store. Decided to resell my bottle as the wood varnish note is wayyy too strong for me to enjoy or would want to smell like walking in public.

Most serious and the toughest scent ive came across. Really aggressive, screams " you better not mess with me". Wear this when you want to intimidate people, if the situation is called for.

30/1/2022 edit: this has a sour plasticky nuance. That's why i guess it just doesn't work for me personally, but i still appreciate it. For me this is more art in a bottle than something wearable. This is something you wear for yourself, to appreciate the creation.

cow paddy

Like most Nasomattos, people have different opinions on them.

At first, the "harshness" of the scent was startling as it's something I don't encounter very often. Then I came to quickly enjoy it.
I can understand where people get the "leather" vibe from, but it doesn't come off as such for me. I get a standard woody amber with that Nasomatto spin. To me, there's a berry-like sweetness coming through. It gives everything a certain warmth to it that makes it shine in the colder temps.

Projection for me is arms-length...which I want. I haven't noticed it having a huge scent trail though.
Longevity- It has solid projection out to about 6 hours, a prominent skin scent at 8, and mostly gone by 10-12. On clothing, it'll last an extra 2-3 hours longer and the amber is more pronounced.

Cost- Like most Nasomattos, they're really not a good deal. Even at $100, I hesitate to buy them.

But of the entire line, this is probably my favorite. Because of the cost, it stops me just shy of loving it.

DarinDeveau

I definitely had high hopes for this one given what I've heard online and the price.

In my opinion, it's really, really close to being a scent that I absolutely adore, but for my taste, it's a bit too medicinal in a way. Personally, I feel like I would enjoy it more with a little more freshness but I can still highly appreciate the scent for what it brings to the table.

Very masculine, great projection, great longevity. It definitely smells better in the air than right up close on the skin, but still not quite doing it for me.

Again, this is all personal taste, from what I've seen people seem to very much enjoy this and I can understand why, its extremely unique.

pitman

Many different opinions from you guys.
I think still the scant is nice, however about longevity And projection it is disappointed for me so therefore a bit overpriced

Spacepace

Intensely concentrated Woody Amber. Brings nothing new or artistic other than the marketing. Unfortunately smart, suave stylistic packaging fooled people on which is basically a simple aroma chemical in high concentration at a high price.

As I've been trying to go through my untouched samples and review/make notes on each, I've been trying to stay appropriately "in season" and only wear my "spring" perfumes for the past week or so. In doing so, it has made sampling more of a chore, rather than the fun and adventurous pleasure that it should be.

So, I decided to buck my own system and reach in my fall/winter stash and grab something that I knew would make me happy (hint: leather). So, despite being out of season, I decided to wear this on a true spring day (high of 75 F).

I think a bit cooler weather would truly do this justice, but it did what it was intended to do today--lift my spirits and remind me of what I love about fragrance (hint: LEATHER). I saw the complaints below about longevity, and decided to proceed with my usual "overspraying" self. With 8 sprays dispersed across my entire upper body, I was able to detect it on myself for a solid 12+ hours. No one complained, complimented, or even commented on my choice of fragrance today (and trust--they are quick to call me out, for better or worse), but I was in olfactory heaven for most of the day, and that's what really matters when it comes down to it.

The description on LuckyScent makes me a little sad, but whatev: "It wouldn't take kindly to being labeled unisex; it's made for a man and there's definitely something about it that screams to life on male skin." I mean... I think I smelled delicious, and I definitely didn't feel like I grew any chest hair.

The price per mL, along with the heavy hand I had to use to get my desired result, takes what would be an easy "love" down to a strong "like". I agree with @M.MALY that it reminds me a bit of Gucci Guilty Absolute, which has less of an impact on the budget. Personally, I wouldn't mind owning both, but I'll probably acquire GGA first since it's supposedly discontinued, then add Duro to my full bottles later (when finances allow.)

IAmStaka

Too mature-smelling. If i were to gift it to my father, he'd gift it to his father. Overpriced. Not my cup of tea.

Elindio

DGouveia

My most worn fragrance. It starts sharp (almost metallic) when i spray it, smelling like dry wood, patchouli and leather; but after a while, it becomes warmer. To me, it's very bold and masculine but not agressive, in fact it feels very sensual and intimate once you have it on for some time.
Very versatile, i wear it day and night but i avoid it when it gets hot in summer. You can smell it if you are close but it doesn't project a lot. The only negative is that every time i buy a new bottle, the scent changes a bit.

allanfuerst

Is this scent unique? Yes, 10/10 for that. Does it last with the current batches? Yes, 10/10, give it time as it needs to oxidize and breath. Do I like this scent? I like it somehow, however the head note is very sweet in a weirdo way. I have gotten more compliments for this than Pardon, which is my favorite.

gre-muser

The olfactive wall

This perfume for me is very difficult to explain, I state that before this Nasomatto I tried two others - Black Afgano and Pardon - remaining quite disappointed, as I didn't like them both.

This instead I find different and very interesting, although at times there is something in the background of incomprehensible and annoying, the best I can say is that it has a hint halfway between stale and animalic (I think).

Above all this, however, I feel very pleasant oud and leather mixed with a sweet note, also here totally indefinable for my skills.

Overall it does what it says, it is a perfume that hits hard as a wall in the face, certainly attracts a lot of attention and does not go unnoticed, due to its particularity it could make you receive attention both in positive terms - it is not often heard around - both in negative terms because, in fact, it is rather intrusive and particular.

Despite the name and the male classification, however, a woman can wear it and, indeed, make it even more interesting.

GlacialImpala

Smells like rubber baloons and Joop Homme/Chergui put together.

taskalizer

I loved this one soo much, soo very smooth, nothing synthetic about it at all. Woody yet very interesting and entertaining. But it is immediately a skin scent and vanishes within half an hour. Alas.

M.MALY

One of the wonderful woody notes that is difficult to repeat with the entry of the leather note, giving it sharpness and sharpness in performance and strength ... But the version that I have unfortunately is not LONGEVITY with its high efficiency, it does not exceed the hour at most despite the strength of the perfum ... something reminds me of Gucci Guilty Absolute, BUT, is a more premium performance with quality but less durability

NICHE SNOB

A solid fragrance but most Nosomstto fragrances have a very haphazard smell to my nose.

It can be very hard to pick out individual notes with these fragrances.

I get a pink pepper fuzzy texture with a leather accord and Black Agar by Givaudan as the base. It’s chemical but in a comforting way.

It’s like niche upgrade of Boss Bottled Night or Pardon mixed with pink pepper and almost an anise pepper facet, maybe some dry cinnamon.

It’s good if I had to give a rating 7/10. I still feel the crowning jewel of this house is Pardon.

Phigreco

good but all gualtieri's fragrances I have tested have some chemical or synthetic notes to them and I don't like it so much. the performance is not what it was before, I tried it in a shop a year ago and it was strong, now I have a sample and it falls behind less expensive fragrances. The notes remind me of some elements of Bentley for men intense as there is wood, leather and spices but with added vanilla and whisky and other stuff. Don't get me wrong, this is of higher quality than bentley even though the notes are less which doesn't mean a thing when determining if something is good or not. just I don't want to pay 125€ for 30ml (that is 415€/100ml... similar to Aventus...) for something that is marketed as "extrait" but performs less than EDP and reminds me of a 30€ fragrance (even though the latter smells great)

A.Bandini

I used to own it but got rid of it not long ago. I pulled the trigger on this one prematurely to begin with. The more i wore it, the more i disliked the scent. The woods in this one are not nuanced, the dryness is fine but there is indeed something harsh and medicinal about this fragrance that i didnt want to put up with at some point. Its just a bit unbalanced and the spices are too biting. To me pardon is by far the best Nasomatto followed by BA.

Golcher

Duro has been in my wish list for a while now and I finally pulled the trigger. I unboxed it less than an hour ago and sprayed on my wrist so these are my first thoughts and not an actual review so don't expect any comments on longevity or anything similar.

Most people describe this as woody, spicy and leathery and that pretty much covers it, that's exactly what you get with Duro, perhaps I'd add a little smoke on top of it. The opening felt a little harsh, to my nose the leather is a little medicinal and it does reminds my of Gucci Guilty Absolute (have to do a side by side to see if they are actually similar but it did reminded me of it), it also found some likeness to Black Afgano, not that they are actually that similar but there's something familiar about it (again, I need to do a side by side).

As mentioned I won't discuss longevity but I can say that it's not a projection monster, based on 1 spray on the wrist I don't feel this as strong and offensive as other frags, this one remains closer, a smaller scent bubble.

Don Pitralon

I do not understand the notes pyramid on this one - for me there is a faint leather for first couple of minutes, but mostly I smell dark oily patchouli. Later on with the drydown it moved to faint woody ambery territory with spices on the top. It sweetens up a bit and reminds me drydown of MB Infinite Spicy. I was really curious to smell Duro, given all the reviews describing it as manly and harsh, but it left much to be desired. Longevity is not bad, but mostly as skin scent - it is certainly not a projection beast that would fill the room and choke people around you. Overall a pass, there are more interesting niche scents out there for the price tag.

Andy the Frenchy

Much has been written to desscribe that one, so I'll limit myself in stating two things:
- It's beautiful, and probably the first (and possibly the only) Nasomatto full bottle worthy for me.
- Should you look for alternatives: if you're poor, get Montale Aoud Musk (that has a similar result, clearly a step lower in terms of quality); if you're rich, get Roja Musk Aoud (that has a similar result, clearly two steps higher in terms of quality and a fantastic real oud)
Highly recommended.

A.K.48004L

Woody leathery and bold but not very heavy I can say it’s almost a watery texture kind of feel, sharing some similarities with epic man by amouage and almost the same of woody by Arabian Oud in the sillage smell, very nice. To me I need to be in the mood to wear it.

Basteri

So much glory that Duro gathers around, however the credit should go instead to Parfum D´ Habit by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier.
They did it before and much better and grandiose

mare_crisium

This one's definitely in the same wheelhouse as Private Label by Jovoy. Slightly more taming of this particular creature, mind you. This is the sort of dark woodiness I adore in a scent, and not everything has to scream and shout and hang around all day.

davidzev

Yeah it’s weird, but I’m not getting much from this. I got a 5ml decant from an authentic bottle, but it just seems a little too subdued, even though I love the smell. My Black Afgano performs way better and is a more interesting smell to me.

bibo25

I hade a bottle sold it because of shity longevity about 3-5 hours NOT ok for that high price for 30 ml. After reformulations they got very very bad lasting power 👎👎👎👎👎👎

micavana

Imagine that you are an archaeologist. You are digging in the wet earth and you uncover a thick wooden door. You push and push on the musty door until it finally cracks open and you walk into a room that was once used as a gentleman' room in years past. A place where men of standing in the community would meet, have drinks, smoke cigars, play cards, and talk business. The walls and floors are dark heavy wood and the chairs are covered in thick leather that has worn from usage over the years. Piles of dust coat the floors from years of neglect. Hints of smoke, mixed with a damp muskiness, waft through the air, remnants of the past gatherings.

Duro is a very masculine scent to my nose. Strong, powerful, serious, and rugged. It can be worn in formal or upscale casual clothing, but not ultra-casual. I get great projection and longevity on my skin. This feels like an older man's scent to me. Someone that has established a name for themselves and can comfortably sit at the game table.

If you like woody masculine scents, you should try this one.

Karlo2468

Wow....this is powerhouse fragrance. I get mostly woods and smoky vetiver but leather and spices are in background, just to support whole thing. It smells like old closet several centuries old from real wood not this trash we use today....manly all the way with good push from skin for hole day. There is no sweetness witch is great for this tipe fragrance. It's CEO tipe stuff.....I love it there is nothing similar to it out there. Great job mr. Alessandro this is perfect for me. I just dont know why this doesn't get talk like BA,Pardon and Baraonda(I love them all) this could beat all of those in every way. Great signature scent, can go all year around unlike those tree. It's business scent bro,not for clubbing and casual wear. Maybe you can pull it of on the dates but it must be right tipe of the lady to love it.
10/10 if you are right character for it...

JimmyTwoTimes

Spilt coca-cola on your leather sofa, wood chips and loose tobacco on the coffee table. Scrumptious scent. Signature-scent worthy.

SirCharles

This is possibly the most aptly named scent I've ever smelled. Hard indeed. Its construction is rather simplistic, consisting of wood, leather, and oud in the base. Duro is bold, unapologetic, focused, distinguished, and despite its propensity to induce a headache, beautiful. There is not an ounce of levity in Duro, and the only charm it carries is perhaps a wry-bordering-on-predatory grin. Between the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Duro would be the Bad, and it immediately conjures images of such a world. A lost and dusty world full of men like stones.

Tamlin

This one is weird to me. There's something about it that feels a bit "off"... As if some of the notes clash a little, or something. I can't quite decide what it actually smells like.

There's something about it that might be described as a bit soapy, or maybe a bit rubbery like a pencil eraser, but I also think it almost smells like... slightly moldy leather!

Out of the Nasomatto fragrances I have tried (this, Black Afgano, Pardon and Blamage), this is the one I enjoy the least.

It's kinda interesting, but kinda weird...

piyux

Nasomatto Duro opens with a great and pleasant wood accord. The leather accord is noticeable but enhances the wood note rather than carving a space for itself. The spices are a supporting note; they enhance the overall scent. The woody accord is very pleasant, realistic, evocative of freshly chopped wood, it feels refined and high-quality. With these simple three notes, Nasomatto Duro moves to its dry-down, relatively linear, the leather accord becomes slightly more prominent boosting its projection. Once Nasomatto Duro has reached its full dry-down it can be summarized as a moderate projecting, clean, slightly smoky, and high-quality wood and aromatic white leather fragrance with some spicy accords. Nasomatto Duro feels clean, comforting, dry, earthy, elegant, exotic, exquisite, formal, fresh, high-quality, masculine, pure, versatile, playful, and very pleasant.

BATCH REVIEWED: 2020.
WOW RATING: 10/10. Duro is a very fine woody fragrance, a very impressive aroma.
DISLIKE RATING: 0/10. The woody notes are high-quality, aromatic, fresh, and inoffensive. The fragrance does not have any noticeable musky note.
UNIQUENESS: 10/10. The purity of its notes makes Nasomatto Duro highly unique.
MASS APPEAL: 8/10. This is a very mass-appeal woody fragrance.
PROJECTION: 3/10. Moderate, about three feet around the wearer.
SILLAGE: 4/10. Moderate, about four feet behind the wearer.
APPLICATION: Two or three atomizations will suffice.
LONGEVITY: 4/10. Moderate, it projects well for about two hours then it drops quickly.
SEASONS: Winter, fall, spring, colder nights, and climate-controlled environments.
OCCASIONS: Formal events, outdoor gatherings, office, business, casual, romantic, dating, clubbing. This is an office-friendly fragrance.
VERSATILITY: 8/10. This fragrance fits any occasion except the gym.
GENDER: Masculine. The woody and spicy accords lean the fragrance to the masculine side.
AGES: 30 and above.
RECOMMENDATION: Nasomatto Duro can be found discounted for about $100 but just 1oz. Its price places it among some of the most expensive fragrances in the market. However, the fragrance delivers great value, if you can afford it, this is a must-have.
BLIND-BUY: No, sample it first.
SIMILAR: Woody accords are common but it is also common to see them mixed with floral, citrus, leather, fruity, and other tones. Nasomatto Duro mixes primarily woody and leather accords. These are fragrances that have similar compositions but not necessarily smell the same. Amouage Epic Man is spicy, smoky, and woody, a good fragrance; Amouage Memoir is woody, and green, but also adds incense and tobacco, but worth mentioning; Lalique Encre Noire a L'Extreme Men EDP is a great woody, spicy, and earthy fragrance.
SUMMARY: A moderate projecting, clean, slightly smoky, and high-quality wood and aromatic white leather fragrance with some spicy accords. Nasomatto Duro feels clean, comforting, dry, earthy, elegant, exotic, exquisite, formal, fresh, high-quality, masculine, pure, versatile, playful, and very pleasant.

Grillmaso

I 100% agree with that Amouage-y vibe in the opening. Not a big fan of it,

BUT,

mid to drydown it fades away and I get Dior Homme Parfum vibe, and I love that !

well, is it worth money? I am afraid no.

Meek113

Oh lord!
Nasomatto Duro!
Blind buy and happy I did.
For me this is a fantastic fragrance by Nasomatto.
Luxurious elegance woody spice and a bit “dusty”

I don’t think Duro is that “heavy” I think it work as a job fragrance.
But be ready you get noticed and a lot of positive comments.

On my skin Duro is a beast and last very long.

Love this and happy that Duro is in my collection.

honeyeater

I have this one, along side a couple others by Nasomatto. I don't personally get why so many of the reviewers think this is intrinsically 'masculine', perhaps because it was marketed and written on the box as such, but I personally find this genderless, like all of Nasomatto's fragances. But I think the problem is found with commercial fragnances, and if it's feminine it's sugary sweet, flowers or gourmand. Anything else is deemed to be 'masculine'.
Wait, mind blown, all fragrances are UNISEX. I think this is super sexy on a woman, personally.

It's a incense, wood and a medicinal undercurrent based scent. The medicinal quality is what separate this from a run on the mill wood incense frag.

It wears quite close to the body but for the first two hours in does project a little. There is a warm patchouli note that sticks to clothing for days. I personally like it, but it reveals itself on the drydown, particularly on clothes the next day, upon some distance. It's a real charming scent, warm bodily scent. As I said people who are interested in dark, unisex fragrances should definitely check it out.

Pawly

Wow, this is some amazing stuff!
Nasomatto Duro starts off smelling somewhat sweet, nice and pleasant but it quickly turns into something else. Dirt. To me, this literally smells as if you took some nice, well blended perfume and rubbed it in dirt a little bit. The main notes I get are very woody, spicy and earthy, with a touch of maybe gasoline and also something sweet that I can't quite detect. It's not easy to explain this one and I'm not exactly sure who this is for. Yes, it's masculine but the undertone has something feminine and fragile to it. The earthy notes really dominate for me, it's the one main thing I get out of it and I love it!
There's also some old feel to it. Like an old attic or an old oak barrel.. just something with strong, woody and boozy notes.
Nasomatto always surprises me with it's daring, interesting, dirty and yet clean and pleasant fragrances. They really find a nice balance between exciting and wearable. One of my favorite houses.

Emorandeira

I am trying this perfume right now and It is really surprising me. What i am not sure is if It is doing that on a good or a bad way. In one hand the smell is much nicer than i was hoping to. I thought It would be the typical gas smell of the very strong leather fragances like Gucci guilty absolute or dark lord by Lilian; but this one goes more on the line of tuscan leather by Tom Ford, with a very spicy and balanced leather which is very pleasant. But un the other hand the performance is not the beast i hoped according to the reviews i had read. The longevity is not bad but the sillage is weak. This fragance doesnt project too much... And more being an extrait de parfum... Comparing with other nasomatto perfumes that i have tried (pardon, black afgano, nudiflorum) this is the weakest one and i think It is more unisex even than any of these three. I dont know if duro is the most suitable name for this perfume...

Scent: 7.5
Longevity: 7
Sillage: 6
Quality/price: 4
Versatility: 6
Originality: 7
Global: 7.5

killandrob

Why does no one compared this to PDM Nisean (Except for one).

There is a very close similarity between PDM Nisean and Nasomatto Duro.

Duro is potent and powerful, Nisean is mild and melow. But very similar. Love them both, Own Duro, Sample on Nisean.

- Depending on what you want either one should be good in your closet.

SJC

Creamy wood notes but keep thinking it's a little synthetic. OK projection, can smell while wearing. Longevity is disappointing at 3 hrs. Tried sample. Would not buy this.

Lilwizprince

This is a typical Amouage scent, I can picture Amouage doing this, Opens up leathery and Woody, after few minutes I begin to get sweet spicy notes, reminding me of Amouage Jubilation and also Amouage OpusVII, It’s so obvious!
I love this, It’s funny how people say it’s a linear scent while to me it changes noticeably,
Longevity( I timed it) was 18hrz on my skin, I couldn’t remember when it became a skin scent, 9.5/10
Silage is Great, Fills a small room, 8.5/10
Projection is Epic!! Projects better than Black Afgano IMO, 9.0/10
Scent is great but not that unique, 7.5/10

Women could wear this Cos of the spicy feeling after some minutes,
Test before you buy, It’s a Love or Hate but I definitely Love it!!!!

kriptokunt

I run with wolves, horses and bikers. I run hard. I do everything hard. Especially sex & dance. Duro is what I smell like at all times.

Aland2020

I'm absolutely dumbfounded after reading everyone else's reviews how this scent has been perceived. The way this smells on my female skin couldn't be further from what I've read about. I get a creamy amber and leather scent. No oud whatsoever, and I've smelled dozens and dozens of oud scents so I'd like to think I'm familiar with the characteristics of an oud scent by now. There's nothing animalic about this leather, it's combined with a sweet candy coated amber and the leather is as smooth and rich as a fine Italian handbag. Nothing musky or sharp about it. I would never assign a gender to this fragrance (not opposed to it entirely, but it's really becoming less of an issue these days as people wear whatever interests them and are swayed less by random marketing) but I'm really shocked to discover that the majority of people who have reviewed this fragrance are men, or women who are claiming this is a masculine scent. Since when did leather + amber become a macho man monopoly? I wouldn't recommend this to someone whose only interest is sweet florals + gourmands, but I can think of many women who I think could pull this fragrance off beautifully, and no one would think for a second that this is supposed to be a masculine scent. And that's not to say that it's overly feminine either. This fragrance falls into a category that I would think truly deserves the description of "for women and/or men"

Moving on from that, this is a real underrated and almost hidden gem from the house of Nasomatto. I've tested a few other scents by them which are also well done, but none deserving more praise than this little beauty, which seems to be overwhelmingly overlooked as though its a reject from the lineup. Maybe it isn't the most unique combination of notes, but it's certainly one of the most well done renditions of this accord I've ever smelled. It needs to be warmed by the skin, and the gender/age range of that skin is really an irrelevant factor entirely where this fragrance is concerned. I'm a woman who hasn't even reached the "middle ages" yet, and I could easily see this becoming one of the more loved scents in my collection. A collection which by no means is dominated by animalic, oud overloaded, or "masculine" perceived scents. I'd go so far as to say that it's signature worthy, and at the very least more than worthy of a fair chance by anyone here who claims to love dark orientals or interesting leathers.

A refined Spicy, suede leather and gasoline. This is Dior Fahrenheit aged in oak barrel and covered with leather. Far better than things like creed viking in my opinion.

7 to 8 hours longevity, Sticks to clothes - good projection and good silage

pitman

The smell is really great, but I can t decide. I don t feel it simply when spraying on me. Has anyone else also the same issue?

gedlive

This was a disappointment.
I have been exploring fragrance for 5 years now. This is a smooth woody leather, with a bit of Oud. It is also sweet and surely boozy. (unlisted) It just smells like so many other orientals. At the Nasomatto prices, they have to be special for me to purchase. Hindu Grass is the only Nasomatto I have purchased, as it is very good and unique. I am not so impressed with the house.

Yes, Duro is like a smoother Jubilation XXV without the fruit. Or it's like Aqua de Parma Oud or Oud/ Leather.

Another fragrance that's like this, and it's good quality, with high ratings.
I would recommend, Atelier Colognes "Gold Leather". It's a boozy leather with Oud and some fruity notes, plum I think. $120/ 100 ml.

Duro smells great. It is smooth and delicious Oriental.
I just don't think it's a good value. Explore some other Oud/leather combos if your looking for the same vib.

The quality and performance are great here, so if you have the cash it may be a good purchase for you.

stanciualexandru11

As the name suggests, this seems rough(Duro)..and it does last a lot on your skin (24 hours).
I feel a very strong woody note blended well with some spices though I don t get the leather that much. Defenetely cannot be worn by a woman, this is masculinity embodied.
The bottle may be small, but you pull the trigger on that one, this thing expresses itself loudly.

Projection 10/10
Scent 9/10 ..don t think, buy it!👌

Skywarp

If Wolverine wore a fragrance, this would be it.
Rugged, serious, doesn't play around. Dry Wood, Leather, Spices is what you get.
It's so damn dry that you gotta have a specific taste to wear this. Doesn't even try to balance it out with other things to tone down the rough edges. No, Nasomatto just threw in the most masculine notes that just feels raw, rough and unrefined. Like it's straight from the source and did nothing to soften it up before filling the bottles. Not even the slightest sweetness or fresh notes. Just raw and dry.
I might sound like im giving a negative review here, but im not. It's just harsh and doesn't shy away from what it's trying to be.
Sample before buying.

Fenrir088

Oak barrel-aged patchouli, lightly dusted with various aromachemicals. Incredibly dry and stoic without much of anything to give it some much needed personality. This is a hipster's minimalistic wet dream. I am only sampling from a vial, but I can tell the performance leaves something to be desired. Possibly a victim of reformulation. The price is just not justified here. Even if this was once a beast-mode performer, it's just so boring. Sorry but this is some pretentious bullsh*t. Hard pass.

logirome

This is boozy leather woody overly macho sweaty armpit of a fragrance. Reminds me of a more refined jubilation from Amouage which repulsed me. Like inside of an old much loved bikers leather jacket that has spent its life covered in sweat and whisky .Great if you like that sort of thing but not my bag for sure .

SniffingStu

Pretty cool stuff, smells both cutting edge and very old school. Can't explain that too well but it's what I imagine a Kamikaze pilot ceremony smelled like. It has an air of sophistication about it. It's very dry, complex yet minimalist. It's very masculine. It smells of rich woods, sandalwood, guaiac, dark resins that conjure incense, a very dry patchouli rides along with a crisp musk, and then the modern aspect is a leather tanning agent, like when you buy a new pair of leather shoes, open the box and smell the leather treatment (saffron). There also a spicy clove citrus thing tucked away in there, imagine sangria. Really fascinating composition, it's really one of those you wear for yourself, the average person may not get it. I would also consider it a cousin of Black Afgano, there is some overlap. Someone mentioned Bentley Intense, it's true for some of the notes, and actually I mentioned Black Afgano in my BI review, these are so much more refined than BI though, no comparison on quality

My5Scents

Duro is a real macho heavy hitter, an attention-grabbing powerhouse of exaggerated masculinity. That being said, in this day and age I believe all fragrances should be considered unisex.

It’s composition is Nasomatto’s secret, but the notes or accords I sense are leather, tobacco, whisky, spices, woods and patchouli. These might not be the actual notes, but this is the impression I get, and the overall vibe evoked is a dark and sexy, confident swagger, with an exciting hint of danger.

I can imagine this as the signature fragrance of a rich and powerful mafia boss in a beautifully tailored suit.

I love it for dressing up and going out at night, it makes me feel calm and in control. There’s no denying it’s seductiveness, I do think it generates flirtatious interest from all genders.

I enjoy quite a few fragrances from Nasomatto, but this is their finest creation, borrowing the best elements of Black Afgano and Pardon, then exceeding them.

andjelaignjacevic

I usually don't fall for perfumes as loud as this one, but Duro is in my opinion rnr in a bottle.
It’s intriguing, intimidating, familiar and a little dirty. The longevity is insane. I will shower after gym and still smell it. It reminds me of the smell of an Eastern Orthodox Church and a dirty hippie at the same time. I don’t even think it’s expensive because one spray of this lasts longer than a day and there’s no need to reapply it. One spray of this will get you more than several sprays of a cheaper alternative.
As for the composition, would definitely say pachouli with some tobacco, wood and sex itself.
Love it.

Andy the Frenchy

Beautiful, but very similar to Montale Aoud Musk. For sure, Duro is a step higher in terms of quality, but not high or different enough to justify its prohibitive price. Would still go for Montale Aoud Musk. Just my personal opinion, obviously.

Fall/Winter days, 30+

Bassamond

Wonderful blend, exceptional, explosive, very very masculine. The spices and leather are very common mixture but here no. The mix of spices and leather and wood is something spicial. I applied it this morning and till now afternoon the scent is still projecting. I applied for sprays two in my chest and to on my back and the smell is still amazing.

Vladius

Chemical bomb, as everything from Gualtieri, full of cheap, dirty, sweaty musk.

dean_iper.1

My favorite one from Nasomatto. It's dark, masculine and strong, not for everyone.
I can smell a dark oud, vetiver and some woody notes.

If you would like a softer version of this one try Black Afgano from the same house, it is pretty similar.

kirrineyears

This indeed smells like sweet oud. The first time I smelled Duro, I felt like I was transported into a humid jungle, complete with strange mossy flora and decaying foliage on the ground. The sweetness luring you into large man eating plants... wild imagination - but who can help what fantasies a fragrance will conjure in the mind's eye! As far as synthetic oud accords go, this is not too bad. I actually enjoy Duro on occasion and could wear this when the time is right.

killandrob

Blind Bought. If you have other Oud (pure) fragrance, dont get this.

Yes, this is masculine and all that.

This is just pure Oud.

görkem.coşkun

This one I received as a present, and I adored it instantly. Ferociuos opening with dry woodsy patchouli, wearing a knight armour made off mahagony-teak-ebony,as if you've just torn apart the outher shell of 100 year mahagony tree and sniffing inside.None of the woods, nor patchouli making any consessions from their dryness in order to appeal to the taste. This appealing task has been accomplished by slightest amount of Iso-E Super, that you luckily don't remark by your nose until drydown, but by the butterflies in your stomach that otherwise no natural wood fusion could give alone. Towards the drydown the woodsy ambience is accompanied by a light hyacinth, and a slightest touch of cashmeran. And after 6 hours the drydown kicks in with more noticeable IsoESuper (I didn't personally notice any leather, unless it's disguised under so many astringent woodsy notes) It's a great masterpiece, but I am not sure if I would want to pay it out of my own pocket.Although it's said to be extrait de parfum, the longevity and silliage ressembles to me rather a niche Eau de Parfum, but with a price tag of 135€ for 30ml, which would make 450€ for 100ml, (very coarse averaging aproach but still gives an opinion:Niche Eau de Parfums starts from 150€/100 ml, going upwards to 350€/100ml as long as they are Eau de Parfums, longeivity changes acc to the ingredients and oil concentration between 6-8 hours, silliage totally differs from Company to Company and from product to product) Still this doesn't mitigate my worshipping to this charming beast.I should catch some good deals in ebay or wait for the black friday after finishing this bottle.

YYY_Delilah

I've heard it said that Nasomatto are extraordinarily secretive about the compositions of their perfumes.

So ... what's in this then, according to the notes list?

Woods + leather + pepper!

Yeah ... right!

There's not a very tight consensus amongst reviews so far as to what the notes indeed are. Someone says "jammy rose" ... I wouldn't say jammy rose myself - I would say more deep excruciating narcotic rose ... but I certainly agree that this is very rose-heavy. Some say patchouli ... yes - now it's mentioned I think there's a fair bit of that- but if it hadn't been mentioned I might well not have named it explicitly.

And I'm not atall saying the notes-list is false, as far as it goes: there is certainly a very strong woody note in there; and as for leather and black pepper - well, if you say so, I'll roll with that. As for musk|amber ... I'll just say I'm content!

But at the end of the day this is a Nasomatto - it's just got that DNA evident in every fibre & gesture of it: it's juice - olfactorily speaking of course - thick syrupy tart-sweet juice, freshly squozen out of the plumpest and over-ripe-est olfactory fruit; and with the tenacity of an industrial adhesive.

HUEbris

jammy fruity rose patchouli... like it.

patrick.herron

Giant astringent patchouli opening that fortunately gives way but not before all circuits are turned off. There's a lovely wood note hidden in there. Nasomatto's Black Afghano is one of my favorites, and I can smell some of the more artificial notes from BA in Duro, a profile which emerges thankfully after drydown. I think it's mostly kephalis that stands out in BA to a large extent and emerges with a lighter touch after drydown in Duro.

The construction, the whole package, does not work for me. I jcould not get past the patchouli and leather. If you like Amouage scents, this one's for you. But it's certainly not for me, but understand I haven't found an Amouage I like. I understand perhaps why people like Duro. For someone like me, it smells like male overcompensation, and that's never attractive. Nor is smelling like the grandmother who has been drinking and stinks of smoke and cheap lipstick left open in a bedraggled handbag. It's the kind of smell some creepy dude thinks is sexy but just sort of reeks of "sex panther." This is for men who think 50 Shades of Grey is erotic.

GRAF

Duro is a beautiful woody, leathery, smoky, spicy, manly scent for cool weather, day and night. The spicesness looks like the one it exist in Jubilation. These scents are not similar though but it has a vibe from the Jubilation.

It opens with a slightly dirty/animalic leather note which becomes stronger as time passes but loses the dirtyness. It's safe and inoffensive and totally masculine.

Dominant notes are leather, patchouli, resins, dry tobacco, woods, incense and maybe oud. I get a vibe of a very nice but slightly medicinal and smoky patchouli which looks like oud but it isn't imo. I'm not sure if I smell oud or a high grade patchouli here but I loooove this smell whatever it is. Duro for my nose is a dominant leather/patchouli scent with woods and spices. There's also a boozy vibe at the opening but it fades away quite quickly. I also get mild black pepper, mild vetiver, a faint dusty/ashtray sub-sweet vibe and maybe a tiny trace of cloves. Overall Duro doesn't feel well balanced or natural, the notes are all over the place, but I love it as it is.

Duro is a long lasting scent but with moderate/limited projection. It calms quickly and settles close to the skin. I understand, when we loove a scent we use to exaggerate about it but I'm sure Duro has moderate projection at best and not beastly as the voting shows.

Btw, Duro has a very very smart marketing... superb!

Birnam_Wood

This is my favorite men's perfume so far. It smells...reliable.

It opens with warm patchouli, then a bitter smoky notes jump out in the middle, quickly disappears, gradually turns into compound woody notes, with the slightest musky hint.

Long lasting, low project.

P.S. Monsieur by Frederic Malle is another male perfume I wear.

Interestingly, these two have similar vibe, but develop in exactly opposite direction.

Monsieur has a somewhat dry, austere woody beginning, but gradually falls to a bed of comfortable patchouli; whereas Duro start with a softer notes, which is slightly on the sweet side, and eventually transitions to multi-layered woods.

bugsyiii

What a wonderful woody concoction! An airy, leather, tobacco-smoky, yet slightly sweet fragrance.

Three fragrances come to mind: The spicy berriness in Jubilation XXV, the smokiness of PdM's Nisean, and the incensy feel of Amouage Epic Man.

Not to confuse anyone, these fragrances only put me in a certain genre or category, if you will, as you think through the aroma and essence of this fragrance.

Duro is a very nice fragrance! Very pleased.

Bottle is on the way, and oh man the sample smells so freakishly good it gives me goosebumps! I don't know what the f*** they put in here but a deep whiff of this feels like an olfactory drug and I can't wait for the bottle to get here!

To me it smells like luxurious sweet leather, with some kinda woody or nutty vibe to it. It's less fruity-sweet than Tuscan Leather (which I absolutely adore), and I suppose that makes it more masculine. It does not have the ashy/smoky aspect of Tuscan Leather, but that nutty vibe is just outstanding for me.I love having both as they are probably my two favorite leather smells. Further testing of performance soon!

marioslg3

Used it today for a first time, oud is noticable and a slightly animalic/sweaty aura coming from the leather... Unfo i didnt see the longevity that all are talking - black afgano seems to be much better in this area-
but i will be in the position to see it better in the next days. Definetely nothing that has not been done before but a nice and masculine perfume.. Too soon to see it deeply so im not in the position to judge it 100pc. Patchouli is something that can be noticed as well as a slight sweetness. Will revert...
2nd day, same with longevity.. It takes you about 5-6 bours and sits close to the skin
After using it again, it has longevity and is more than enough. I like it although i had my doubts before but now i like it a lot. Masculine 100pc.

Crowleysviles

My gf usually doesn’t like leathery notes at all, or even most masculine type notes for that matter. This one is definitely close to both of those things, but she was really impressed and intrigued with this one, very creative as wel as pleasing. I know peter said it was possibly just a synth base (black agar by Firmenich or Givaudan - (spelled?)), as well as maybe cashmeran of some kind, but that really doesn’t take away any of the creative merit of this one for me personally. Also a perfume head Co worker girl’s favorite release out of Nasomatto’s men’s offerings, is Duro

Scents & Vision

Dark fiery animalic oud leather incense combo with a herbal twist. Nothing sweet, bright or cheery here!
Alessandro Gualtieri, we salute you!

INJEN

Great scent; But I have to admit the lasting power is not the greatest, It sits very close to the skin, It is definitely not a winter scent, Will try again in the summer and update my review,
Scent 10/10
Long lasting 5/10
Thanks,

DanO82

Does anyone else have performance issues with this? I know it's supposed to be beast mode but I can barely smell it projecting off me after about an hour. Is it possible I'm going nose blond or is my skin just hovering up the fragrance as soon as I put it on

Otherwise, this is a great scent. Strong, dark, masculine. It's got such an aggressive tone yet it isn't offensive. Not as creamily refined as Pardon and not as delicious as Baraonda but a beautiful scent nonetheless

richmilton

Alpha male masculine. Projection is over the top with a single spray. Wood and leather mostly with something spicy. Not very smooth, kind of sharp and in your face. I can't imagine a woman wearing this... at least not the ones in my world, nor the ones I would be attracted to for that matter. Duro reminds me of those classic uber masculine colognes from the 80's (Kouros, Quorom, Giorgio, etc) when fragrance houses competed to have the strongest cologne for men on the market with sillage that entered a room before you did. Duro is a MUST try before you buy. Absolutely not for the office or humid summer days. Best in cold winter nights walking around the city (e.g. New Years Eve) or taking the lady out to dinner.

juli612

This is my favourite :) I don't feel it like masculine at all, I'm a 30 y.o. lady and it is just perfect for me - for all the occasions (office, nights out, dinners, lunches..) It is so warm and calm, very classy and expensive. I receive compliments all the time and I am absolutely addicted to this frag. The silage and projection are very good. Absolutely worth the price!

enkhbayar.mishigdorj

this is really sexy! Opening is a bit dry oudy, but few minutes it bridges to leathery and spicy.

very masculine! So makes me strong

rbalkris

A leathery somewhat woodsy masculine fragrance, it can induce a sense of unease and dread in very sensitive individuals. A bit overdone and somewhat synthetic IMO.

no-fi

A dry woody scent with sweet and spicy facets. I pick up a synthetic medicinal oud, along the lines of M7 Oud Absolu. It's nicely done, but perhaps too linear for those seeking something more dynamic.

afraafra

I love most of Nasomattos fragrances, but this one feels a bit plasticky and synthetic..It just doesn't do anything for me..the opening is very harsh and spicy, but longevity is good and it gets a lot better later on.it is definitely a take on the sexual side of the word hard, or duro..

TheNichePerfumery

This has a wet cardboard box quality to it that I really like. A box, sitting in a damp basement filled with leather bound books and paper. The scent you breath in is aromatic, pungent but not gross, you can smell the leather, the wood, the mold. All in all, it's intoxicating. Unlike others in the Nasomatto line, this is very much a one-act play, not much evolution or change in the scent over time. But there is nobility in this kind of dependability. I did own this once but sold it because it quickly dropped off my frequently worn list and it's cost it too high to have it sitting staring back at me.

ernest12534

duro is this best perfume from nasomato
if you like smell of wood, you will love it

hossein_gi

maybe the best in nassomatto house is this one IMO.
start with unique boozy-spicy notes that i really crazy about and little turn to woody note in continue.last and sillage is beast.really worth this price and use just in special situation.10/10

GustaveTheNose

I'm not a big fan of this one, and I agree with a previous comment in that it smells like old sweat, not a pungent armpit sweat but more like an old shirt left unwashed in a closet for some time.

Smells a bit leathery, cumin like, and some animalistic notes. There's no sweet or floral notes as far as I can tell.

I tried it few times but it's not for me.

SirCharles

This is, bar none, the manliest fragrance I have ever smelled. Actually reminds me of Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

hauserj

Hmm, I really wanted to like this, it smelled quite good in the store. However, after putting on the sample at home my wife's first reaction was: "It smells like antiseptic!"

Also, did not project at all!

landshark321

Strong and impressive as its reputation holds, I'm glad to finally try Nasomatto Duro and experience what's usually hailed as a masculine beast fragrance.

Part of the charm of Nasomatto is the absence of note listings, so we need to rely on our own senses and the suggestions of others in determining the breakdown.

In the mix for me are oud, leather, and woods, and I get a bit of booziness probably from a whiskey type of note. Apart from liquor, I have a difficult time accounting for the slight sweetness I detect in a storm of semi-harsh masculine notes.

Performance marks are very high, at the extreme end along the lines of some of the Slumberhouse beasts, some Tom Ford Private Blends, and so on.

Given how biting it is, it's difficult to give this the very highest marks but for me it's a solid, high-performing cold weather masculine option that one does really need to love to splurge for, at $185 for 30ml extrait.

Top 10 best smell and best longevity in my entire collection! Take a look and that may surprise you. . .

Wow. That's the best word to describe this MASTERPIECE. Duro is a very manly fragrance. 80's powerhouse performance without that 80' powerhouse smell. Duro is a fresh cut piece of wood in a big way with some Oud and booze poured over it. It's the one that I wear when I am feeling like going on a adventure or something. It's going to get you recognized in a good way and you will get a complement. I always do when I wear this. Now don't go hard on the trigger here guys, two sprays goes a long way and will last you the whole day!
I own the best three from the house and that's subjective but that's black afgano, this and pardon. Oh yeah. Don't let the 30ml fool you. It will outlast almost any designer 100ml EDT you own. So fresh, so powerful and so manly. Such a great fragrance and it's not too complex. This is one I would even reccomend to a non collector who just wants one great fragrance that will last them a long time and get them noticed.
10/10 masterpiece

Cold and distant. Something that demands attention from the opposite sex. Best worn in the cooler months with a rugged leather jacket and leather boots, feeling adventurous and a bit mischievous.

This is not for everyone, but on the right person I believe this potion could do wonders.

smellagent

I bought this awhile back and although I like it it's very strong. Use lightly. I don't use it much cause I usually prefer more florals. I gave it to my husband and it is better on him and I still get to enjoy it.

I have an extra bottle. pm me if interested.

Duro

Vigorous, full-bodied, unique.
Duro opens on my skin with a woods scent. I am not able to identify the wood note. The glorious leather comes through, it smells like uncured leather! I sense oud, it has a bitterness to it. I sense some soft sweet spices, faint vanilla. There is a magnetizing powdery musk-like aroma on my skin accompanying the leather. I think I sense incense even if I dont see it in the pyramid. The woods are deep, heavy slightly smoky blending with the leather.
Duro lasted on my skin for 7 hours and the sillage is enormous! This is a must try for lovers of Leather!

Perfume has no gender, don't worry about Duro being marketed towards men, women can wear this.

jery1310

This is the strongest wood wraped in leather jacket. To me it is THE PERFUME for men dirty and naughty with style.

weaselize

yesterday i wore duro and i can still smell it.
This stuff opens very duro and stays duro.
This is straight up wood, durowood.
To me it smells like a freshcut tree or woodlog with that kind of sharp, wet aroma that the tree releases from it,s tree juices.
That wet, freshcut, woody aroma that this fragrance does, makes it give that hardness to it. That "duro"
Someone on here said this is his leather jacket, his feeling dangerous scent and i get what he means.
This stuff makes you feel dangerous, smell dangerous
I,ve smelled darker, deeper and more powerfull scents than this one but not as dangerous like duro.
Duro has this foxy feeling.
For me i am happy with my sample but if you,
feel attracted to the dark, sly, dangerous side, then this one might be worth checking out.
This is the scent a sithlord would wear pulling out some mindtricks... May the foxy force be with you

Wearing this today this is Wood leather and spices plus some more wood and spices... + ATTITUDE :) This is for a mans man... cant really see this worn by a woman well it could be i guess but this one is more men focused...

Starts of harsh and my turn people off but after 30 min when its starts to dry off a little bit of sweetness come through from sandalwood... other then that pretty much linear smelling.

Performance is good with above average longevity and good silage.

I love this thing... that said try before u buy this one is not blind buy safe.

Duro feels from the entrance to the very concise and simplistic middle notes, almost everything is Cashmeran with a very slight note of spices without much else. Yes it is true that the Cashmeran has a dry woody smell very nice, but it is clear that this does not convert itself into a great aroma and a masterpiece.

Drying improve something and not as minimal as it also comes in leather chord with smoky notes.

Such a simple and pleasant little artistic composition, with good length and projection, but that is not justified (for nothing) the high price to pay for this fragrance 30ml, about 118 €.

Spettacolo puro! Unica pecca: esageratamente pesante, ma vibra!

Vondevelde

My favourite of the house. Really potent and sexy fragrance. Lots of patchouli in the beginning. Please note that this scent really has to be put on the skin for an optimal review. I first sprayed it a paper and after some weeks on my skin. That's when I really began to appreciate this one.

Bottle worthy even with this price. Piece of art.

PS Do not blind buy this one! It's not a "crowd pleaser or a typical safe scent... "

pravda48

To me, Duro smells like... patchouli. Lots and lots of earthy, moist, vegetal-spicy patchouli. Very smooth and with a fascinating sort of wet sparkle to the top, but ultimately not what I want to smell like and doesn't seem worth the price for me. Perhaps other ouds I've tested today have numbed my nose, so I may give it one more test...

(LOVE Nasomatto's Black Afgano & several others, but this one seems lacking in the depth/progression of the others.)

Bunino

Very safe. Too modern for me. Smells familiar in a bad way. Sharp. Synthetic.

Erok32

I think many of these reviews are exaggerated in one way or another. This definitely smells masculine and classic. However, it's not animalic, and it does not smell offensive in that it resembles body odor or hair, or anything of the sort. What I get here is leather, woods, an oud accord, incense, and maybe patchouli. It's woody, slightly sweet, resinous, and leathery. It's very well made, and I personally think it could be worn year round.

Q80

i don't wanna disgust you but this has an awful story that Alessandro said himself to my friend.
he said "this fragrance came from the idea and the smell of me scratching the area between my thighs and my (sorry Ladies) balls.. so this came out"

that was hilarious specially on having such an inspiration.

now truly i can imaging that it was the smell!! i can smell leather yes, wood note, slightly animalic, and to be honest i kind of smell hair, slight armpit, and tan skin essence. citrus, sourness, and hint of cotton! grass, greens, and some pepper. Truly it might smell like B@LS!!... his description came as the smell. just don't get scared about it, try it and it's good honestly not disturbing at all :)

peter.aitch

Irresistible. Probably my most-worn frag. Doesn't smell like anything but itself to me. Never get sick of it. A masterpiece.

KearnsK34

THIS IS GORGEOUS!!!!!!! All I ever hear people talk about is Black Afghano which is great. But Duro is the masterpiece from this house. This is sex in a bottle. Strangely to my sex apparently smells like clean garden soil mixed with root beer. Amazing. People literally stop me every time I wear this and bury their heads in my neck. Men and women. In fact although is is definitely a more "masculine" scent I have given it to several female coworkers who love wearing this themselves. Wear this is you want to get noticed.

ParfumFetiche

This review is based on a tiny decant. Starts off with sweet woods then joins in by oud. Kinda reminds me of M7 Oud Absolu. Projection is moderate and longevity is good on my skin.

soleroc

Hello All (that choose to read),

So... I don't know what the 'deal' with Perfumiers actively concealing (or rather - refusing to reveal) the contents of their work - is. **Assuming role of Devil's Advocate, here:** I know... It's "Art" & should certain Perfumiers choose to NOT reveal their "creative process," then that is their choice! Humph! ...right? I am sorry, but I must DISrespectfully DISAGREE! In my opinion, it is the equivalent of being forced to watch a fascinating movie on MUTE!! You like what you see, but very much want to know what is going on as well. *Hangs head* I know, that was an awful analogy. It just irks the hell out of me. Yeah, onward...

I apologize for the rant and thank you for the kind ear/shoulder. I do enjoy this fragrance. A lot, in fact. There is a lightly sweetened, tart black-currant. This note plays well with the Ambergris. Neither are listed, but both are very much present. A clean, synthetic Amber, generic "All-Wood" (if I may) and soft-untanned leather are what this ends up drying to. Blended well. If you Iike musks, then you'll almost certainly dig this. Thank you very much for your patience.

Thanks again,
JJ

Nosy_Thoughts

Bold woody aromatic, which is supposed to depict all things manly. Not at all is this overly vulgar or offensive to me. If anything, this to my nose is luxuriously sweet - from the woods and leather. Also brings to mind aged oud, therefor evokes assertiveness and collectedness. A very good blend in my opinion. If price is a turnoff, go for JC's Dirty English for a more economic alternative.

all i get/got was floorboards and leather with a sweet floral smell. doesn't sound that good but all put together it just works...dunno about the 'sexiness' part, but it is quite good...

Oh, wow this is soooo sexy scent.
I felt stunned by its sensuous strength.
I don't know if this is only for men, what I know is that's simply charismatic, powerful, compelling.
This scent whisks you away and takes you away into a sensual embrace of leather and wood spices.
It's a living skin that glistens with spices and smells of resinous woods. It's an earthy fragrance that inspires you with primordial feelings but always leaving you with an extreme experience of classy and sophistication.

I could abuse a man who wears it, but I would wear myself. :-p

Smells almost identical to montale aoud musk
Very brazen in your face smell good stuff

I'm adding this not so much as a review, but to add something that no-one else has mentioned. This probably means that either I have had a couple of olfactory 'off-days' when I've sampled this, or that my skin does something odd to Duro? I'd love to hear if anyone else gets the same, or has a better/different explanation of what I'm getting...

I won't bother repeating the general observations of the primary notes themselves as the other reviews capture this perfectly well. But I notice that, after the initial heady, thick initial wadge of oud-ish woody, leathery, medicinal smokiness has subsided, but before the softer, almost soapy 'pale-incense' arrives, I am getting a slight touch of what I can only describe as almost parma-violet. It took me a while to sense it there under the dryer wood of the drydown, but I swear I'm getting it! Imagine taking a small parma-violet sweet (candy), crushing it and sprinkling the pieces on a still wood dusted cut tree stump. It is VERY subtle, but I get this each time so far.

Also, just for the record, I think that the 'right' woman could wear this. No, it's not girly (more steampunk?!), but after the initial 'thwack' of sticky darkness, this opens out into a much more approachable state.

to be an extrait has the thickness of a cologne.. a megachemical blast of plastic wood..a big mistake which won't be remade

Ok this is a review...

My remaining sample of Duro was used this morning and although I'd worn it twice before (once & now with aerator) there had been no noticeable distinctions made by others - except this morning. Not only did I get a couple of appealing remarks but I too began to appreciate it in a new and comfortable sort of way. After about an hour I thought it wasn't going to work with my chemistry but after about 2hrs I began to settle into the warmth of this fragrance and really connect with its' source notes of wood and leather. Wood almost to the degree of cedar combined with spices.
Unfortunately I lost the trail after about 2.5 hrs and had to seek out a 'life-line' for further observations. So as uncomfortably as it was I asked a couple of female colleagues and they assured me that earlier this morning they noticed it, but now there was no scent trail whatsoever. My wife couldn't notice anything even as a skin scent on my neck either. Very disappointing for this juice at this price.

I'm considering sampling the Aoud Musk Montale.

This isn't a review but rather a preamble(of sorts)of hope: I spend a lot of time researching the various fragrances which seem to appeal to me(i.e. Notes with Amber, Patchouli, incense, oud, musk, woods,...). In full disclosure I am the quintessential novice and neophyte so I tread lightly...especially with this niche price point. Being a minister I must measure my expenses to say the least.

Having said that I am so excited to have tried a few samples lately thru LuckyScent and have learned more about what I and my wife prefer - She's my involuntary trainee ;-)

Now I'm about to launch out & learn a little more --- This Nasomatto Duro is going to be my next experience and I can't wait to share my experience with you.

I'm so grateful for this wonderful community of people who are so intuitive, civil while yet being intelligent --sometimes the two are not mutually inclusive.

Update: 1/16/14 Just recieved confirmation of shipped order ---- I haven't felt this anxious since I was awaiting special parts for my 87' 560SEL MB. Like a Big 'almost' 49 yr old Kid! I never knew being a "Fume-head" could be so exhilarating.

$146 australian for 30ml it must be awesome stuff but
these bottles are like samples .

It's a masculine scent simply outstanding! It belongs to the category of woody fragrances, where the woods are then rendered particularly attractive by spicy notes. I have bought a bottle for my husband today and I can assure it a very long lasting scent. No doubt it also a rare expression of masculinity but always in a very elegant and sophisticated way. Duro does not correspond to HARD, it is more a name that wants to emphasize a charming man who wants to say something with his scent.
Congratulations to Nasomatto

DURO!!!!

The HARD ON of male perfumery!
I saw a video of some guy reviewing it on youtube and he claimed that the name had sexual connotations. I had to correct him at the time thinking 'Duro' just means 'Hard' in Italian and it was just his dirty mind and the marketing material talking about what a masculine statement this fragrance makes. That's the intended concept anyway...and as I said I was skeptical.
That was...until I got my nose on it!

Wild this one... make no mistake!
If you like wood up the wazzoo this is the fragrance for you!
Loud woodiness of dank strong Oud and a harder denser wood combined with it.
Then there's the spice it's hard but not in a cooking spice type of way or even a hot chili kind of way, it's dry woody spice...almost like the natural spicey scent that would come from a piece of exotic wood.
This fragrance for me is absolutely everything I look for in a masculine powerhouse. The spice perfectly tones down the unpleasant quality oud can have. You know? that bit when it takes a nosedive after the initial almost sweet strange amber quality.
Anyway...the price of this juice is high, extortionately high some might say but I still felt Duro was a worthy purchase because of how bold and strong this juice is.
Longevity and projection are massive as you'd expect from extrait de parfum.
It's not especially unique smelling this one but what can I say? It has a certain appeal & I was charmed by it.

Duro!! I can not understand the notes of this masterpiece, and 'a scent that I think most do not understand' but on the skin and 'exceptional try it for at least a day on your skin, for those who complain about the price in Italy costs € 108 with discount it has 100, a good price for an essence of perfume, stress, eSSENCE oF PERFUME, for a perfume ARTISAN AND SUMMARY ..... my vote and '9/10 ......

I smell this and cannot imagine how anyone could not like it. Some fragrances you know are a little quirky and may be an acquired taste. Very nice wood note with great longevity and sillage. What is there not to like. Yes it is a manly fragrance, so what, i'm a man. This is pure heaven in my books.

nemorino

Way to dry on my skin

scentdoctor

Smells like vix rub ... woody musky like a incense burning on wood in a hindu temple not something i would wear ... drydown is a little better but all i can smell is that wood note

Gileshowe

It smells like someone who isn't very nice. Like someone ruthless, climbing the corporate ladder and greasing the rungs behind him who doesnt look back and doesnt stop smell the roses. Great to install fear in your juniors, less so to make friends.

nonsisa

I don't know what it is but this fragrance has some kind of aggressiveness to it I cannot stand. This is the kind of fragrance you just want to wear if you're properly dressed in a suit, not something you could rock in a casual outfit. A must test before buying.

bigjakeriz

The best from the house in my opinion. Duro is fantastic. I love the heavy woods and leather. And just a perfect amount of spice. It's dry but I also get a hint of a pleasant sweatness. It's just a pinch. It keeps it from being to dry and spicy. Love this juice. Can't wait till it gets cold so I can wear it.

steve0580

After getting a sample of Duro, I immediately recognized it as being identical to Montale's Aoud Musk.

Aoud Musk is one of my favorite fragrances, therefore, so is Duro! I'll call it a win but I'll also say there is no reason to spend $185 on a 30 ml of Duro, when you can spend $160 and get 100 ml of Aoud Musk.

ladykarl

Duro conjures images of a chemical wasteland and a barren salt desert ala salton sea at once. It smells significantly better than escentric molecules escentric 1 which i find this to be pretty comparable with except Duro has nuances of warmth, depth, incense and spice. I would not be surprised if it is completely void of any and all material that people associate this smell with which, honestly makes me a little uneasy. If your comfortable with chemical backbone sported loud and proud this could be highly sexy and winning.

Lolgav

They say it's masculine? Not fair. As if women did not want to smell of beautiful, dry, crystal-like wood and as if they did not deserve to get perfumes with more than your average 1-2 hour longevity. There is definitely oud all the way through and, as a woman, I find it beautiful, sophisticated and difficult. Just the way a women's pefume should be.

Khadeejahzainab
