remind me very much of Fleur d'oranger from Fragonard but its stronger. I layer it with Tam Dao and I love it. Good performance for a EDT. I struggle with Tam Dao and Philosykos performance but this one is long lasting for me. I like to layer with Tam Dao and its amazing, make Tam Dao last longer.

Noveight

This one surprised me! I was expecting a very realistic orange blossom and I got that, but you also get a woody kind of ashy scent which I assume is the bark of the orange tree. I almost wish that wasn’t there, but I do love how real the orange blossoms and neroli smell.

VLLNYVXN

A really nice summer scent. Smells like a light breeze in a field of orange trees. Bitter, green, fresh. Two spritzes do the job.

rolanddano

For me this is the same as Neroly Voyage by Floris, de difference that this one actually has decent longevity and projection. The first fragrance from Dyptique what I would wear, definitely full bottle worthy.

temporalgrace

I liked this on paper, but it's gone wrong on my skin. Devastated as I thought it would be a lovely light summer scent for me, but now that I'm wearing it all I can smell is bug spray. It gets more tolerable after 15 minutes or so, but regardless I think I'm going to exchange my bottle for something I like better.

Lotte_Liese

I like this fragrance to a certain degree. There is a cologne like, fresh quality to its smell of laundered bed sheets in the opening. But as it dries down it begins to smell more and more like detergent. Just keep that in mind. That's all.

dogzillamd

Nothing better than waking up on a nice spring morning, taking a shower, and putting this on. My body smells and feels so incredibly clean and fresh. I absolutely love this scent and the powdery vibe it gives. Find myself wanting to wear this more and more.

Quite the sleeper hit around here.

julesmadrid007

My absolute favorite orange blossom/bitter orange tree fragrance and is my signature scent. It has much greater longevity and sillage than most any other orange blossom fragrance.

This masterpiece by master perfumer Olivier Pescheux truly celebrates the Saville/bigarade orange tree resulting in a fresh, interesting, elegant, modern and relatively long lasting fragrance.

So gorgeous and uplifting and is perhaps the reason I am on my 4th bottle. I simply can't live without it.

Hansie

I absolutely adore this, surprised by so many negative reviews or references to dryer sheets.

It's a beautiful fresh bitter citrus made with quality ingredients, not synthetic smelling like laundry products. I think I like it because it does that have that old Italian classic perfumery vibe. It makes me feel fresh and summery like I'm basking in the sunshine in Italy and the orange blossom reminds me of my time in southern Spain.

This style is not for everyone I guess. I love it, but then I'm also just about to walk out the door to go to Le labo and purchase the Petit Grain 21 candle and try the Petit Grain 21 perfume on my skin, and this is intended as a literal room spray. Regardless It makes me feel calm, organised, clean and happy. I wish Diptyque did a candle like this.

Eau des Sens has amazing longevity for an EDT and is my favourite Diptyque for day time/spring/summer, coming second only to Eau Capitale.

Sampling Eau de Sens from a 2 ml Diptique official sample. Not gonna lie, it’s not my cup of tea because of the scent profile, not because it’s a bad fragrance.

I am more of a sweet, amber, warm, gourmand, fruity/floral, salty vanilla type of perfumes lover. Which is nothing like Eau de Sens smells like.

Eau de Sens opens up with a very bitter orange, green, aromatic, juniper berries and a very soft, soapy orange blossom scent. The most prominent note of the base ones is angelica. Patchouli sits more in the background in Eau de Sens. On top of the initial bitterness and soapynnes, angelica adds more. More aromatics, herbal, green and fresh touches. This is a perfect blended and balanced scent, smelling very realistic and spring time appropriate but for a different type of perfume lover than me. I can objectively appreciate the beauty of quality of it, even though it doesn’t suit my personal taste!

Season wise, I would say early spring time and also hot and humid summer days. It would probably bring some life into the person who wears while feeling overwhelmed by very high temperatures. Again, not me, I live for those days..

If you’re loving BDK Villa Neroli, Atelier Cologne’s Bohemian Orange Blossom or Milano Fragranze’s Naviglio, more than likely you’ll adore Eau de Sens. All these four scents have some differences that make them stand apart but at the core they share the same DNA.

Scentsitivewoman05

This is very zesty orange-y perfume. Very fresh, leaning aquatic without necessary makes it masculine. I dont think I capture any sweetness in this fragrance, only neroli family DNA all the way. If you want to call neroli scent as soapy, there you go you can say it is soapy, but for me this is zesty perfume 😉 no pun intended for my gen z visitors 😂 this is literally neroli fresh aquatic but also green (?) perfume. Longevity and projection are moderate with that being said, the price point is justified. For a niche fragrance it is a good deal.
A parisian youtuber said parisian in summer usually wear fresh neroli type of scent, so I always imagine sunny paris when I wear this.

youmeoui

It’s hard to deny the beauty and wonder of this fragrance. If you love clean laundry scents, this is your fragrance. To me, it smells like an orange blossom dryer sheet (in the best way.. that might not be a selling point but it is such a comforting, beautiful scent). Unfortunately, my husband is very allergic to this scent- to the point where while we were running errands I had to buy a new shirt and wash it off my skin because he had such a bad reaction to it. And as I was standing in line to check out with my new shirt, a lady behind me started having a sneezing fit, and the exact same thing happened earlier that day with another guy as I was at the post office waiting in line… So unfortunately I’m just going to have to admire it from the bottle, no matter how beautiful it is, because I feel too guilty to wear it out and about.

FantabulousFragrance

Embassy Suites soap. The bad one.

Coppersulfate

wonderful gorgeous amazing stunning showstopping perfect in every aspect. did not expect a simple orange blossom fragrance to be this good. it lasts for days on clothes and it lasts on your skin for a full day as well. but its never cloying, its never too much. its perfect. the scent appears randomly throughout the day without making you feel like youre being choked. even though its 'just' an orange blossom, it excels at what it does greatly. its not bland or boring.

the site says the citrus is the biggest accord but its really not. it starts off citrusy and bitter, but it luckily lasts for like 3 minutes. then it becomes floral, creamy, slightly green, powdery (signature diptyque powdery like fleur de peau, tam dao and orpheon), soapy and clean. The patchouli in this isnt present whatsoever which im glad about. i dont have a single bad thing to say about this fragrance. nothing is missing and everything works together to create the most realistic orange blossom experience.

it smells like passing by an orange tree in bloom, right after walking past a bunch of jasmine. sniffing the flowers directly creates a way different experience, which eau des sens doesnt capture. it fully captures the air around the plants instead of the flowers themselves. and no it doesnt have too much jasmine, if any. it just reminds me of a jasmine filled area. i dont know how to explain it, but since its not noted i assume its just a bit of indoles from the orange flowers they used. It has creaminess too which is very surprising and somehow not common for orange blossom fragrances.

Even though i like a few other perfumes more for their scents and concepts, i cant deny how perfect this is. its a 10/10 and i will be buying it once it runs out. amazing longevity (longer than all of my edps) and high quality inoffensive scent. you dont have to be the biggest fan of orange blossom to appreciate this, this is something that can be liked by everyone

ginandrice

I'm practically obsessed with Eau Des Sens' bright, zesty, dimensional citrus opening. The juniper berry note melds with the citrus accord perfectly, while adding a crisp, tangy hit of green dimensionality.

Unfortunately, it's not long before a soft, finely-milled woodiness comes heavily to the fore, and the whole thing gets very powdery and quite dry—like a woodworker's table set up beneath a backyard orange tree during a rainless summer. Plus add a pinch of classy talcum powder.

As someone who loves fresh, green, zesty-citrus scents, but has never been a fan of powdery wood scents, the opening of Eau Des Sens is a resounding hit for me, but the dry down is a swift and thorough letdown.

CandyDandy13

I love the fresh, citrusy smell, but it is literally just 4711 in a different bottle with a much larger price point.

cloudk

When I first put this on, I said out loud to myself "I love this." It's so orange, slightly bitter and floral, but it also has a sort of natural medicinal soft quality to it- idk how to explain it. It's not gross at all- it just adds to the scent. Sometimes, things cannot be explained in words. Though, I am trying to get better at writing what I mean when it comes to fragrances. One night my boyfriend and I had this lovely vino santo for dessert that smelled like orange blossoms. I remember thinking that it was one of the loveliest smells ever and wishing I could try to find something that captures this delicious smell. I may have found it. After a few hours the patchouli comes out more though, and I really don't love that.

igorvida87

Been pairing it with their staple body milk and I couldn’t love it more! Orange blossom is one of my favorite notes and I like how dry and powdery this one gets on my skin. Not your typical fresh citrus, but more like if the rind of a bitter orange was soaked in orange blossom water. Could be easily one’s signature scent, despite being overpriced if you consider that Cologne 4711 and Zara’s Amalfi Sunray have a similar performance for a fraction of Diptyque’s.

Would definitely buy the full bottle if there weren’t equally good orange blossom options out there.

jakoblotta

Eau des Sens smells like pure Himalayan herbal medicine incense. It’s magnificent, medicinal and religiously intoxicating. 10/10

silverlocusts

Powdery, soft orange blossom with a little green thrown in. it smells lovely and delicate, as other reviewers have pointed out. I think that diptique always does powdery really well--the scents are dry without being painfully so, and the powder never overpowers. I don't think this is something I would wear on my person, but a scented hair or body product would be very welcome in my life. To me, it smells clean without smelling like synthetic white musk. it is more of a sun-dried linen kind of scent rather than a dish soap kind of clean.

ljsmith

Start to finish all I smell is dryer sheet. It’s really pleasant and lovely, maybe softer than a dryer sheet, more like walking past an outside dryer vent while someone is drying a load of clothes inside… reading other reviews now I feel like I’m crazy. Lasts 10+ hours on skin, amazing performance for an EDT.

Zerana

Smells too much like laundry detergent and nothing else.

oubliette

It's mainly orange blossom, I find it's quite rounded and not so sharp/fresh. Unisex although I would prefer smelling this on a man.

camphor_lover

I LOVE ORANGE BLOSSOM!!!!!!!!

hnk11

I hate this. Smells like bathroom air freshener. Smells expensive, but like air freshener nonetheless. It’s well blended, but not my cup of tea at all.

Ariete76

Heaven on earth! Well, if I had to imagine paradise, I would imagine it exactly like this... not with orchards or woods... but full of orange blossom trees! Close your eyes and imagine a garden with oranges and orange blossoms, a very fresh perfume, perhaps the best perfume I have ever smelled in my life that is so realistic (and I assure you that I have a lot of citrus/citrus fruits!) clean of previously euphoric sensations then after a few hours it becomes relaxing, always present it doesn't fade on the contrary... every now and then it re-emerges with its clean and good scent, I can't imagine how you couldn't like it, in my opinion it would also appeal to those who turn up their noses at citrus/citrus fruits! Perfect in spring/summer I will always wear it... ❤️

09pinkrose02

I wore this all throughout high school. I still own a bottle 5 years later. It smells so clean and peaceful, like a princess in the forest. My aunt has always used this scent as well, and she sprays it everywhere during the summer. Just has such cozy floral summer/spring vibes. Super long-lasting which is surprising for an EDT.

caselizas

Eau des Sens places the orange tree in a delicate and sentimental frame. The first spray is pure orange blossom, with bitter orange, juniper and patchouli pushing through not long after, providing a welcome botanical balance to this white floral. The sharpness of the bitter orange acts as an anchor for the blossom, keeping it from fading into a generic whisper. It can be a bit heavy on the patchouli at times, but not so much that the citrus notes get buried in the herbs. I'm catching the soapy element that some others are, but I find it fresh and comforting, hardly artificial. This scent, which lasts longer than expected for an EDT, is clean and cozy in the winter, but it's obvious this is made for the spring and summer. It's the perfect companion to sunscreen and a gin spritz.

Jadewihongi

A happy and cosy summer scent with heart.

Bitter and punchy yet airy and soft.
Equal parts floral, herbal and bitter orange.
Squarely unisex.
Reminiscent of linen and denims drying in the summer sun.
Subtle patchouli note gives it a 1960s hippie feel.

The ultimate blue jeans and t-shirt fragrance.

apollinne

Very beautiful, gentle orange blossom. It is elegant and cosy, on my skin suits better in mild winter times. I recommend it for daily wear or whenever you want to “smell good” but not “in your face” good.

gandrasta

Sheer sweetness of orange and white floral. It's somehow too airy for tropical climate. Not listed in the notes above, but I smell prominent frangipani before angelica kicks in. Perfect for casual and office hour

PapaTLooch

A better smelling, more interesting and less expensive TF Neroli Portofino.

xdwward

Sampled only, smells like screechy orange blossom and dries down as like a hair dye/color smell. I dont like it.

Note: Review in tropical, humid climate

dsgnmind

As much as I like smelling this house I struggle to want a full bottle for myself. I've gone through one department store and two brand owned boutiques spending my time (essentially wasting the nice store workers time) going from line to line. While there are a few that stand out like Eau des Sens, the vibe is still too reflective of an adoring home fragrance to me than personal fragrance. Here the initial few seconds of the opening has me hooked but the sharpness and focus where the orange blossoming and the juniper is crisp with a fragrant backdrop all blend too well and after some time you get a more generic feeling where one can't really distinguish this fragrance from others in the same family. There's a uniformity, which is good - but almost too uniform. The longevity isn't the best maybe reaching 4-6 hours.

Anastasia.A

Nice orange blossom, fresh, uplifting, mild sweetness

jiaamin

First time I tried this, I HATED it, it was a very sharp citrus and I'm not a fan of the patchouli. I feel like this is more of a mature scent. The second time, I didn't find it so offensive but I still don't think I would reach for it, it is a bit too strong for my tastes and I don't like the scent enough to want to smell it for the few hours which it lasts. The musky notes help to balance it out though. Smells like a body lotion my mum used to have.

MidoriNoKitsune

This really reminds me of 4711 cologne.

Odor Aeternitatis

Beautiful fragrance. In Diptyque Philosykos, Diptyque tried to create the Fig tree as a whole, from the fruit to the leaves, branches, wood, and even creamy resin. After the high success of that fragrance, in the new one Eau Des Sens, they tried to create a fragrance around the bitter orange tree as a whole. In this sense, it's a figurative type of fragrance.
It starts with neroli (orange blossoms) and citrus (bitter orange), but the citrus here is different from the usual citrus as bitter orange has more green, bitter, and aromatic facets. It's musky and very lightly soapy as well which adds cleanness to the freshness of the fragrance. In the middle, it's fruitier and slightly sweet, in a pleasant way. The base notes of Angelica and patchouli give the earthiness to the whole combination.
I really like the idea of creating a fragrance by inspiring from a tree, as it has all the notes a fragrance needs: elegant floral notes to woody and earthy. Also, Diptyque has a philosophy to create a fragrance to evoke your memories, which is very interesting and they are surprisingly successful in that. Both this one and the philosykos bring me to my old memories.
It's a very easy-to-wear fragrance and has reasonable longevity and good quality. It could be a good signature scent especially if you wear lighter colour dresses. Excellent fragrance.

the inflection point of an hourglass poised between the last, humid stages of a sweet-tumbling dream, & the bracing morning. a promise lit between shadows as white curtains pull backwards, scattering blossoms & sand out of the hourglass, now shattered. rising tide approaches to carry off the shards.

if i lived in a warm, ideally tropical place i might buy this- this might sound dramatic but i can imagine the difference of this worn in summer v. winter to be so stark, i'd cry if it was wasted on winter.

billycorna

Got this as a birthday gift a few months back. I reach for this perfume a lot more since I am now working in a tropical--mostly hot and humid city. Who knows that this vanilla guy is now unlocking his orange blossom era?!

First of all, my overall and first impression was "this smells expensive" since I rarely find people smelling like this scent. And when I actually tried this for a while now, this is really beautifully blended fragrance, and blends well on my skin as well. Opens up a bit alcohol-y, but immediately fade into a pretty orange blossom scent that exudes the charm within (I just feel like one, LOL) and transitioned into a pretty white floral fragrance that sticks on my skin. People who knows that I wear vanilla on a daily basis even complimented me for wearing this and they somehow like it on me too. So I'd probably buy another bottle soon.

P.S. the only downside is the longevity, I mean it is a EDT, I know. But I just personally wish it lasted longer.

cmdqt

Sour and screechy opening, plus a generic drydown

OlgaOT

This is such a nicely executed cologne! Will be my second favourite after Acqua di Parma’s classic Colonia. These are not comparable note by note but their vibe and olfactory semantics feel very close (to my nose at least). Love it! Also very natural as other people say.

lulu3232

Elegant, clean, bright, perfectly Unisex fragrance, very realistic and natural ingredients, high quality smell, if you lived in Spain or certain parts of latin america you would notice the Nenuco cologne feel to it, it is the grown 2.0 version of it.

For a citrus floral fragrance it has surprisingly good performance, not a monster in therms of projection, but above average longevity, price is ok, I'd say is a little bit more formal in my opinion, so it is perfect for work, love the musky soapy drydown this thing has. It lowkey had to grown on me because the sample gave me headaches, but i eventually fell in love with it.

Since it is very natural and simple in the best way possible it is also good for layering. My favorite combination is with Eros Flame. Somehow both of them compliments each other very well. Overall nice fragrance to have. Please try it.

Beautiful daily scent

I might have found a replacement for the sadly now discontinued Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche. This Diptyque Eau des Sens is very similar to that in the sense that it's a perfect bitter orange scent that screams 'acidic' (which I love) on my skin. It's sharp and long-lasting and I just love every bit of it.

Here I quote from Diptyque's website: 'A stimulating composition and a unique fragrance. Eau des Sens eau de toilette unites every aspect of bitter orange.
A harmonious blend of branches, leaves, blossom and fruit. Soothing on the skin, and as mouthwatering as any delicacy. A vigorous, stimulating cascade of freshness.'

Spot on. Well done.

If you're a citrus fragrance lover, you don't want to miss this one.

HorreurZizi

Got a sample from the store. I love it. Definetly going to be my signature for the warmer months, will buy a bottle before spring. That being said, it is to me, wearable at any moment of the year. Ok for Day and Night, maybe not to go to a club or bar.
Not a beast, it stays close to the skin, longevity is OK but i need further testing. Like most Diptyques, it smells comfy, fresh, clean, probably my favourite Fragrance house at moment.

Nichole FZA

This smells like those complimentary small bar of soaps at 5 stars resorts than when you checked out, you would request for a dozen bars to bring home if you could, knowing you would never use 'em anyway because you are worried you would never find them anywhere and the resort is 5000km away from home. Well done Diptyque, I am yet to find a Diptyque that I don't like.

Djedi

I really enjoy the orange blossom note in this. It starts off rather floral but it soon subsides to a more soapy orange blossom scent with aromatic, gin tonic like tendencies. Natural and well composed. Gets sharper and more coniferous in the dry down. I find it to be perfectly unisex. Performance could be better, however it's a joy to wear during summer.

7.5/10

DVDEK

Clean, floral and citrusy scent. Perfect for hot weather

AS2687

Took this to the Maldives and it was a total compliment getter. It sings in the balmy evening air. Clean, floral but with enough soap and depth that it’s not too girly. I’ll always take this away with me from now on. Longevity is decent, enough to get you through the evening. Initial sillage is huge but it settles down quickly. This and Torino 22 are my signature summers.

Bmcbat

I don't get soapy from this. I get a masculine-leaning damp yet clean aquatic. It's OK. I'd wear it if I was a man.

Haris84

This is super refreshing and mood lifting fragrance. Opening is alluring with blast of citruses & orange blossom in an addictive style. Later Juniper barries lingers well rounded with Angelica and depth is provided by patchouli.

Signature Scent Worthy for Summer

5hiraeth

When testing on a test paper, the fresh and captivating orange blossom top notes amazed me. It's a fragrance that is rich in layers and exudes an air of elegance. The floral scent is gentle, natural, and non-irritating, and I fell in love with it instantly. When sprayed on my wrist, I found its longevity to be average, as the scent of the middle and base notes started to fade after awhile, leaving a faint aroma. I think I should try applying some Vaseline before spraying the perfume next time to see if it can last longer. Overall, this is a unique fragrance with a delightful floral composition that suits both men and women.

Smell : 8/10 - Nice top notes

This scent is perfect. It is lovely and refined. The “expensive Italian soap” description is spot on — smells like the most luxe shower ever. It is cool and clean, a perfect combination of spicy neroli, soapy patchouli, and peppery angelica, but also fresh, sweet orange zest and dewy orange blossom.

this is the perfect neroli white floral to me. every neroli scent i smell i want to smell like this. so i guess my hunt is over.

AlaskanGambit

New to this and I am not going to mince words; this fragrance came off as soapy and citrusy. Could be a Mrs. Meyers hand soap. I'm glad it develops into something a little softer though, reminiscent of laundry sheets. Not for me.

cipete

The perfect summer fragrance! last long on me and the sillage is pretty ok! people near can smell it :)) perfect for the tropical-humid weather in my country

katjashba

The opening smells exactly like Coppertone sunscreen. The smell of my childhood vacations so because of that I really like it. Not sure if I’ll buy it though.

Generalstore

I love it.
Orange is def one of my favorite note. It smells a bit like green tea to me and def soapy.
Living in a tropical country, this one is my go to scent. The longevity is not bad, i can still smell it on myself after 6 hours and it stays longer on clothes.

emgailba

I tend to dislike soapy scents, and can't seem to find anything in the house of Byredo that works for me (a very soapy house), so imagine my surprise at not just liking, but LOVING Eau Des Sens. Now, granted, I do like juniper berries as presented in Killian Roses on Ice. I also love Angelica, so I was hoping this would work. Eau Des Sens is unapologetically soapy, expensive, chic--there's sunshine citrus, a bit of herbaceous green and woods. And look, I live in Texas, and today it was 99 degrees and it's only June. On the walk from the car into my place of work, I'm already sweating--it's oppressive. So it's tough to find fragrances you can stomach in suffocating hot temps. Shout out to Diptyque--this is the perfect soapy, fresh burst of scent. Wow--love it.

Scouthome

I totally agree with Leolia who describes Eau des Sens as “like you took a cold shower on a hot summers day and you used an expensive Italian soap”. It can’t really be described any better. Except to say an Italian soap whose scent lingers on your skin for a pretty long time. In essence Eau des Sens is the epitome of what is meant when a scent is referred to as clean. And also the epitome of when a scent is described as soapy. There are abviously a lot of possible deviations from this “rule”. But if you sort of want something that is spot on these two things, clean and soap - then look no further…👌

It is really to me an all year rounder. But will especially come to life and into its prime during summer. And a perfect scent for really hot days as the cleanliness of it will cut through also some sweat and salt and bodily musks that follow with hot days in the sun…

Having said that I am not sure this is a scent that feels intoxicating or something that pulls you in and makes you want to sniff yourself like some more juicy citrus fragrances or some florals or some more spicy coconutty and fun summer scents will do… I guess that sort of comes with the territory of being good and clean in a way. Sin free if that makes sense… or Sens… (bad pun intended). Eau des Sens does probably not feel sexy to yourself… But! I do find that other people often find it sexy on you when you wear it…🤫 Especially in a hot day people get sucked in by the clean cooling vibe of Eau des Sens… So do not underestimate this frag… As it’s sillage and how it projects to others is not half bad, arms length and following you in a room and detectable also in outside settings when someone goes by you. Pretty good for an eau de toilette. I also find the longevity to be very ok. As long as you are fine with the citruses leaving the building after dry down leaving behind the juniper and the beautifully earthy patchouli with a hint of orange blossom. I also find this to offer a bit of clean muskiness even though musk is not listed as a note. It becomes a skin scent after six to eight hours of moderate projection (at least on me) but stays there a while longer and doesn’t disappear completely until sometime while you are (hopefully) sleeping in the night. Sometimes I can still detect it if I bury my nose into my skin the morning after too… In essence not bad for a clean scent!

Now having raved a little about this I also feel a need to point out what I don’t love about Eau des Sens… And that is that it is quite similar if not even a dupe for the old kölnerwasser 4711 that I grew up with as the cheap bad stuff you could get in the grocery store… (I recognise 4711 is having some sort of revival now being a well worked in brand and all… but for those of us who were kids in the 70’s… we won’t forget. And for some reason Eau des Sens always makes me think of 4711 immediately and it brings back nostalgia alright but not in the best Sens, if that makes… (bad pun again… sorry…🫢).
It also reminds me a lot of Neroli Portofino but that is more citrusy and more aquatic, ozonic and less french/italian soapy. And the soapy ness is a major player for the somewhat sexy clean effect Eau des Sens can have on people in hot weather… So if that is desired - then one may need to overcome one’s repell against the 4711 vibe… (but it might just be me who feel like that…🤔). Many of you might love the 4711 thing!

Bottom line is that for hot days when you like to feel clean and cool then Eau des Sens is unbeatable in my opinion. And it’s vibe can for some people who smell it on you be quite intoxicating on a hot summer day…
But it can also be a signature Allrounder for anyone who just loves the clean soapy vibe. Might even be a signature for some as clean and soap can work all year around.
It is also in my opinion totally unisex and will lean more masculine or more feminine depending on who the wearer is. Just like french and Italian soaps do in general. ❣️

Leolia

Love it!
You will smell like you took a cold shower on a hot summers day and you used an expensive italian soap.
It’s extremely fresh and long lasting.
People around me tell me i smell so fresh and clean.

fatychatm

Basically like being soaked in a pool of soap, very clean and neat fragrance. The longevity is incredible as well as versatility. The basil smell may be odd but overall a good choice for summer

curieuse

The initial impression is very fresh citrus, such lovely neroli, and then after few minutes it turned incredibly incense-alike on my skin, the change was so strong it was shocking. I think that was patchouli, and boy that was unexpected. I felt all of a sudden like being in an ethnic shop full of incense, not in a bad way, but I was just not prepared for this kind of jump. Then it turned 180 degrees into that gorgeous soft neroli again, citrusy and high quality and just pure, fresh, innocent, beautiful stuff. Then the patchouli again. This dance repeated for quite a while it was fascinating - Eau des Sens has two faces, it does.
It's a very enjoyable experience (I will call this as an experience) but I'm just not so convinced by the strong patchouli. The orange blossom and neroli part, it is so good that makes me actually consider getting a FB. But then again, I'm not so convinced by the patchouli. In any case overall really well crafted, well blended stuff.

lihsinhsu

Without looking at the notes, the opening of this perfume smelled a lot like tea to me. A bit of an ambiguous tea, I guess orange blossom smells a little like the Jasmine in jasmine green tea and bitter orange smelling a little like the bergamot in earl grey tea.

Vitodito

This is one of the best offers from the house and a must have if you are into clean fragrances.

The first 3 minutes might put off because the smell of orange flower and tree is way too realistic but trust me, wait for it.

It quickly settles into a very very clean soap bar with neroli, and it has that typical diptyque core which smells like white clean wood flakes.

Performance is absolutely beautiful. Very very good longevity and elegant projection.

Bought in the diptyque store in Paris, be aware, tons of fakes…

nogarisuper

A bar of fancy milled soap. The scent is dry rather than sweet due to the juniper, making this unisex leaning towards masculine. Clean without the smell of synthetic laundry musk. A classic and classy fragrance indeed.

SwishingtonGrimble

Years ago I bought a bottle of 'L'Eau de Tarocco' as it was on sale and I was curious. This is reminiscent of L'Eau de Tarocco to me, though it ran out ages ago so I can't directly compare. I like the body moisturiser dyptique sell, Lait Frais. They're all a bit of a family of scents to my mind.

MyFragranticaUsername

Uplifting and surprisingly long lasting! This might be the best fresh fragrance on the market! I couldn’t recommend it enough!

AS2687

I’m not terribly good at describing specific notes but this is an easy summer holiday companion. This is probably my most complimented summer fragrance. When in the Maldives I had people following me and asking what I was wearing. It has a heady, just showered, sun warmed skin, floral citrus vibe with just enough depth to linger and cut through humid evening air without being cloying. It doesn’t last particularly well on me but I wouldn’t part with it.

adastrarcana

I usually associate citrus scents to bright, fresh, energetic, pick-me-up fragrances. This one started off like baby cologne for me and then settled into a nice rich orange scent. I enjoyed wearing (it lasted a lot longer than I expected) but probably won't be purchasing a bottle - would like my citrus scents with a little more freshness and zing.

MuralGlobe

I considered a bottle of Eau des Sens, but it just never fell into the love region of my mind, just a strong like.

It's a great strength for an EDT, as are most Diptyque fragrances. Eau des Sens is a fresh citrus which I love, with the bitter push of the juniper and the never-ending presence of angelica (ehhhhhh) and neroli / orange blossom. Something in this fragrance keeps the orange blossom from turning more musky/soapy on my skin, akin to Jo Malone's Orange Blossom or the slightly minty Fleur d'Oranger 27 by Le Labo. It's held down and brought together in such a nice way, that it makes me happy to be able to catch whiffs of the not-so-linear frag.

It was never a love for me because I find myself getting nauseous of it on bad days. The juniper and angelica does something negative to me on my skin, and it smells stale. Usually it smells bright and jubilant, so maybe bad days come with a change in skin pH or skin properties. The human body is so silly and inconsistent sometimes! Definitely worth a sample, in my opinion, but I strive to sample everything I can. Scent 7/10, longevity 8/10, bottle 10/10.

electricstrike

My ex-boyfriend wore this every day. He kind of sucked, but at least he always smelled like clean, citrus-scented laundry.

RebelWithoutApplause

I really REALLY do not like this and I really thought I would based on the reviews and the notes.

Bitter Orange? Nope, not one trace. Juniper Berries? Absolutely not. Patchouli? Nope, not at all.

Neroli (orange blossom)? YES. Angelica? DOUBLE YES.

This is straight up Neroli (a very sweet one) blended with Angelica, and this Angelica is STRONG with it’s Celery-like, Peppery, Musky, Dusty, Decomposing Lilies scent.

Conjures up Victorian era laundry day. Just an absolute no for me. If you love Neroli and you love Angelica, then this one is perfect for you! If you’re looking for bitter orange, rounded with a bit of neroli, well blended with the cleanliness of juniper and conifer, grounded with the depth of patchouli, stay away. And definitely don’t blind buy like I did. I’ve worn it for over an hour now, waiting to see if it would improve, but nope. I feel the headache coming on….must scrub immediately! Ugh!

HeatherMuffin

Got a tester of this one and woah it’s so rich with sickly sweet soft patchouli I can’t stand to have the 2ml tester in the same room as me. Makes me want to vomit 😳

ajfragrances

when you first spray it, all i got was a strong and beautiful orange blossom, which i loved. as it settles the juniper berries come through and eventually a soft patchouli smell comes through - but it’s so gentle and pretty. i’ve never smelled a patchouli fragrance like this. it’s so beautiful! very clean and soft, musky and bold (bold as in its there but not as in its too strong, does that make sense?). perfect for a workspace/professional setting, though you’d probably need to reapply it every few hours for it to be noticed either by you or others.

daisybrown

fancy hotel, concord grape, brass hardware, biscotti, handwritten letters, morning electronic

lavandette

So hear me out here: Navettes de Marseille. I don't know how many of you have experienced these but they're hard little boat-shaped cookies. The twist that takes them beyond your garden variety biscotto? The orange blossom water. It's not that sweet - the way many Mediterranean desserts aren't sugar-sweet - but there's a different kind of 'gourmand' to it. That's my exact experience with Eau des Sens. Like sharing navettes with a friend in your Provençal backyard, the sun awakening the angelica and white flowers nearby. Chef's kiss.
(Don't sleep on this as a winter scent! In Provence, navettes are also enjoyed on Chandeleur, even though most people would associate crêpes with this day.)

faithann

A very sweet way to do a patchouli. I loved how natural this scent felt. Orange blossom forward but fresh and lived in, very complimented by the hint of juniper.

Printeza7

Beautiful and fine! The orange blossom opens the fragrance super strong, then it lingers there but more green angelica appears to take the top. Nice, fresh, summer fragrance! I like it, my favourite of my eldest daughter. Not super lasting power though.

frag_nostalgia

Unlike any other orange fragrance I've experienced -- it's very orange blossom forward -- sweet, fresh, floral and fragrant with a snappy, bracing herbaceousness. While it is much a different fragrance to Love by Kilian, the type of orange blossom in the top is quite similar. They would layer so beautifully, to amp up the florals and temper the sweetness of Love. Would layer so nicely with hundreds of scents! Yet Eau Des Sens possesses enough character, depth, and interest to be worn on its own. Signature worthy!

*I must add for an EDT the longevity on this is insane -- over 24 hours on 3 sprays to the chest. Well worth the money.

Shui-Xian

This fragrance suits to my clothes - but not me.

Yes, it is lovely clean and soapy. But I miss the energy and freshness of citruses. Also the juniperus is mild.
It is soothing and fair, but not dazzling.
Actually first one by Diptique which wasn't
charming for me. For signature citruses I would choose L' eau des Hesperides instead.

Sillage between moderate and strong. Longevity 4-5 hours. Nice for all seasones.

AirBureau

Bitter orange / orange blossom that speaks with a Barry White voice. And I'm here for it.

gedlive

I took a break for a few days, to get away from fragrances, and clear my mind and nose.

Today I craved Eau des Sens, more than anything, and put it as my signature.

It is a great, natural freshly, neroli type of fragrance.
But it is very unique and distinctive for a simple fresh fragrance.
I love the Juniper berries in the heart. It smells like the conifer juniper leaves. A bright and juicy bergamot in the open, with the bitter sweet orange peel.
The orange blossom is not neroli, but it is orange blossom distilled in a way that makes it smell like the actual floral orange blossom, more than the tart green neroli.
The Angelica is a great green note, that goes seamlessly with the juniper berry note.
I do get an authentic unlisted cedar note in the base.

I have an older bottle from a few years ago at least, and a new bottle.
I think it has been reformulated, just slightly.
I do prefer my older version. I can smell the juniper more, now I get cedar and the juniper is a little fainter.

Jeff Shin

This to me literally smells like a fresh orange peel that was used to rub out a cigarette butt. A greasy-smelling orange blossom + Neroli scent. I loved the vibrant clean opening with bitter orange, but something in the notes gives me smoke and grease. Nauseating after a few minutes. Of the orange blossom scents in the market, it is one of the most realistic and least artificially sweet, but still, that smoking vibe is off-putting. I rather prefer the L'Eau de Neroli from the same house.

kwisdommeister

Tried a tester, to me this is freshly washed laundry, nothing special, and smells like you would be able to find this in a cheaper version.

likesleet

creamy combination of neroli and orange. not a gourmand like love don't be shy, but still has this rich, inviting sweetness that is distinct from typical citrus/florals.

Harold-Meissner

Juicy Orange Jell-O

derby2169

What a genius idea to combine the bright, floral, soapy nature of an orange blossom accord, dry aromatic bitter orange and the cold woodiness of angelica.

Spraying this on I immediately get a realistic bitter orange rind, quickly transitioning into a soapy orange blossom accord, with linen-like musks supporting from underneath. The angelica and patchouli add a damp green, cool forest path vibe to the dry down and seem to add a certain density, making this quite a tenacious orange blossom with above average projection.

There is however one caveat, the high amounts of terpines and camphorous facets from the angelica and patchouli, in combination with the soapy facets may be a bit overwhelming for some. I noticed others have compared it to disinfectants and detergents, and while I don't really get that, I can imagine the slightly more astringent woody elements kind of evoking a bit of a natural wood or furniture cleaner vibe, so take that as you will.

mewyq

Clean, soapy, bitter orange blossom. Makes me think of orange zest and anti-bacterial soap more than the flower, though not in an unpleasant way. Conjures up the image of starched white collars and rimless glasses for some reason.

alyce

Trying this for the first time today. There’s something so incredibly comforting about it. I feel like I’ve smelled it before, but I haven’t. It’s like the nostalgia of it is on the tip of my brain, but I can’t quite place it? Maybe it’s from walking through a particular garden as a kid, or smelling a similar scent on a loved one. I’m not sure, but I like it. The angelica mixed with the patchouli on the dry down is fabulous. And despite it being an EDT, it’s projecting and lasting very well so far. A really lovely, cozy green scent. What an underrated fragrance. (I haven’t heard any folks in the online fragrance community except the friend who sent me a decant recommend it.)

travisjames

The first blast of this is really not my thing at all. It's very bitter and strong... like taking a shot of an awful aperitif you found when raiding your grandparent's liquor cabinet. BUT. It dries down so amazingly soft and sweet and it's well worth the nastiness you're first hammered with. I thought I wasn't going to last long with this on my skin, but as it takes its shape it's something else. It's soapy and clean but maintains the orange blossom sweetness. I get no juniper or patchouli, personally. I may not spring for a FB, but it would be nice to have on hand here and there when the mood for something orangey hits.

webbapeterlove

Hi there! I am a mortuary science student, and part of my job is to learn how to embalm a deceased human being. Why do I tell you this? Because this particular fragrance smells exactly, and I do mean exactly, like an embalming room after a body has been thoroughly washed, disinfected, embalmed, washed again, and ready to be put into the casket. I think it's primarily because the products we use are citrusy, little bit of white floral, orange sometimes. And those are all notes that's in this fragrance. I can't wear it without smelling the embalming room. You want to send that tells a story, I'll be at a morbid one, this is the person for you

gedlive

This is a great fresh fragrance, will be my signature for early Fall, cool Summer mornings.
Love evergreen conifer notes like cypress, juniper, etc.
This has a nice juniper in the mid, goes well with the green Angelica note in the base.
The orange blossom with citrusy bitter orange on top is very beautiful and fresh. The orange blossom is very floral here, it's not neroli. Sometimes this hit me as being very feminine, but it is balanced with the earthiness of patchouli, and green notes.

dcalandy

Too strong and headache-inducing of a soapy bitter orange scent for me, but when paired with Eau Duelle... oof divine!

FirstSense

The smell of Eau des Sense from my 2 ml tester is hunting me in a very tempting way. What a lovely orange perfume with a fresh clean citrus herbal soapy smell. It's is not zesty and absolutely not sharp citrusy but very round and comforting with a very gentle complexity. The musk, patchouli smell in the dry down is very nice and the perfume lasts on my skin at least 7 hours. Somehow EdS reminds me of a very luxurious house where you bring a visit to the extremely lush bathroom with top notch classic bathroom furniture and you wash your hands with the most luxurious soap you have ever smelled. I think I'm gonna get a full bottle of this orange masterpiece from Olivier Pescheux.
Edit: 10-4-23.
Purchased a full bottle and I cannot imagine my life without this orange, orange blossom masterpiece anymore. Performance is amazing for a citrus. Addictive, classy and soapy fresh. The remaining musky smell the next morning when I wake up is so lovely. 🍊

Amour, Michele

Absolutely in love! I've been spraying it non-stop. The initial blast is not super amazing but very nice citrus herbal summer scent. I love the soft bitterness. However, it's the drydown that blows my mind. I'm obsessed with this notion of laundry done by hand with laundry soap when there were no washing machines. Scent of clean laundry but no fabric softener - I'm looking for laundry done by some imaginary 18th century person with a simple soap. This is it!! It's so good, smells clean but without smelling like shampoo or modern soap. Perfect!

trabuquera

For a bigarade maniac this doesn't quiiiiiiite hit the spot. Usually, point me at anything with bitter orange and the deal is made on the spot - but here something makes me cavil and quibble. I usually love things bitter and love things tart (and - English joke - some might even call me a bitter tart myself) but the extra dark and bite of patchouli seems out of place here. It slightly dirties and muddies up the otherwise charming cleanliness and sparkle which makes up all the rest of the spectrum, or the palette, of this very fine whiff of summer. The orange flower and angelica are really seductive even though they're playing it discreet, and detailed with real care. Perfectly unisex, absolutely inoffensive, could go anywhere without shaming you. So it's a REALLY pleasant and intelligent citrus-splashy-but-classy scent overall; but still, that lingering growl of woody-spicy bite underneath swerves in the wrong direction for my tastes. The top end is gorgeous though; any fans of Malle Bigarade Concentree, Monegal Entre Naranjos, Boucheron Orange de Bahia or even the mighty Chopard Orange Mauresque could feel right at home here, though (in keeping with Diptyque style) this is sheerer and more fleeting than any of those others. Most definitely worth your time for an orange audition. Would probably hang on (just) for a day's wear, but would definitely need reinforcing with more sprays if you were going out later. Doesn't bowl me over because of that patchouli taint... but very very respectable. Give it a squeeze and see how it a-peels to you.

violeteme

I just love this. It's tangy, zesty, tart and a bit bitter, I can feel the bitter oranges and angelica, but develops quite soon to a lovely creamy, floral, but very subtle aroma of orange blossom. It's just the most subtle orange blossom I ever smelled probably, like bitter oranges and orange blossoms were left to float in a water bowl. Could be a favorite for a hot summer. It's not surprising, unique or exceptional, but who cares? +

jarno1208

I like it. Very nice summer fresh aromatic scent. Easy to wear. Perfect for the office. Can garner compliments.

dudebro

big love from this Florida boy for Eau des Sens. been eyeing it for a minute, but always concerned about longevity. to my surprise that wasn't an issue.

I've grown up smelling orange blossoms on my high school campus, and this scent throws me back to those cooler spring days before the stifling humidity of summer would set in.

i smell all the listed notes, all at once, throughout the entire dry down. it really is "the entire orange tree". the angelica adds a green and woody musk that keeps it grounded and mature.

10/10 couldn't ask for more from this cologne. orange blossom swirls around you for hours. high heat makes this juice BLOOM. i love it.

BebeLaBeaux

This is my new favourite summer scent. It smells like a sparkling, fizzy citrus, but done in such an elegant way! My boyfriend always compliments me when I have this on. It's also very light and fresh which makes it perfect for summer. I would wear this all year though! It's truly beautiful. Definitely try it if you're a citrus lover!

Darcy_x

This was my favourite from Diptyque for a while
It's smell like expensive soap from Kew Garden.
It's a beautiful median between floral and green. There's a very zen feeling to it. As it develops can leans quite masculine I felt when the white floral is gone (which is quite quickly) It doesnt project that much but I do think this is full-bottle worthy because it's fresh and quite versatile (I can imagine layering this with other florals)

vorachoom

Smells like when you go to a spa, you're ready for a massage and they lights up orange aroma oil. Very relaxing and pleasant smell that will re-energize you. I love how Diptyque makes their fragrance simple and straight forward while having some personality which makes it not boring. This one may not be very wow and amazing but it is surely a fine fragrance.

nmua

Smells strangely chemical, like a plastic scented doll from my childhood. The orange blossom definitely comes through strongly but smells almost medicinal. I could see this working better in a soap, not that I would use it. I typically like citrus and white florals but something about orange blossom almost never works for me, I prefer when it's more tart.

Yes Malena

Love the way the angelica plays against the orange blossom, and the way the scent carries so prettily on a dry breeze. Though the fragrance seems to be what I would call high-pitched, how does it somehow also carry a down-to-earth comfort? It's so creative. Nice work!

Mche

Too mature for me (20s)
For folks who are into classic scent or the smell of orange blossom on its own
Dishwashing liquid in the beginning
Dry down to soap
Extremely long-lasting with great sillage

kstacy4

This is such a gorgeous orange blossom fragrance!! It performs beautifully for an edt. All the notes blend so well together but it still smells unique and interesting. This fragrance has a happy yet comforting vibe. I think it’s full bottle worthy. Love!!

meredithxx

Love, such a happy fragrance. Smells like springtime.

wenshere

I'm personally not a big fan of this since I prefer when orange blossom is executed in a light way. To my nose it smells a bit overwhelmed/suppressed by the patchouli and other notes. I don't think it smells bad however, just not my preference.

ahmed_mfr_taha215

OMG, falling in love from the first sniff ❤️❤️❤️

looraw

I don’t know what it is about this one…but Eau de Sens smells magical to me. It is a mystical and sensual cacophony of orange blossom, soap and something deeper that I cannot put my finger on, which is why I love it! I almost don’t want to look further into the notes and ruin the mystique. Mature and clean yet fun and twisted? A new favourite.

xvxmatthewxvx

I love orange blossom scents and this is a good one

sunny, flowery, sweet salty corn, oily, orange blossom with medium projection for about 2-3 hours using 2 sprays on my arm and 2 on my neck

itsalwayssunnyd

if you're arab and grew up with your parents using "saboneh nabulsieh" - that is EXACTLY what this smells like. i show it to all my fellow arabs and we ooh and ahh at how it smells exactly like the cleanest, most simple of soaps that we all used in our childhoods (and many of us still use!). Nostalgic, clean, soapy, i can't say enough good things. if you're arab and most "soapy" fragrances don't smell soapy to you - this is the one!!!!

abbyallison

This is the fragrance I reach for when getting out of the shower. It reminds me of being in a spa. So fresh and clean!

missloveschocolate

On me this is just soap. It’s a nice soap, from a refined savonnerie, citrusy, fresh.
I had a friend who always smelled like this and I must confess, I loved smelling this ultimately clean fragrance on her. But I don’t want to smell like soap myself. I might get a small size decanter though. There are just days that you want to wash the dirt, emotional and psychological dirt, off of you. Well I guess this might be a great fragrance therapy for such days.

lihsinhsu

More orange than orange blossom. I find it to be a little too heavy. Orange and orange blossom are usually in lighter frags and I prefer them that way.

turidoddlokken

The first few minutes it smells like a mosquito repellent. Then it dries down to a gorgeous creamy white flower scent with a hint of orange. Love it - it is quite addictive!!!

kokonose

Aggressively orange blossom.

amatuerfraghead

Orange with orange blossom, fresh, but it leans toward air freshener side as i find it to be quite synthetic. Better longevity than other edts, sillage is moderate. While it smells nice, its nothing spectacular and there are definitely other releases from diptyque that are more noteworthy.

The Wolf

This is a less concentrated version of Acqua Di Parma Colonia Essenza.
If you like this, check out Essenza, much stronger and better quality.

Scent 5/10
Performance 4/10

Hike4Scent

Soapy, just soapy. Like walking down the detergent isle at Target. Even two hrs later it was just a chemical soap smell.

greguvka

I wanted to like this one but on my skin smells like a synthetic orange. I do not mean to be overly harsh but the smell reminded me of those little orange soaps they put in urinals. I would turn to Hermes for an orange smelling scent (eau des Merveilles or Terre)

ckorp8

Nice but on skin it faded to almost nothingness in about ten minutes. On clothing smelled okay but I still prefer Oyedo for Diptyque orange scent. Will try layering the two to see if anything interesting turns up.

mangooo

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. On initial spray I wasn't a huge fan. It leaned very strong green at first. I thought for sure this would be a no for me, but the DRY DOWN.....it's so lovely! The scent softens up so much into a gentle slightly orangey sceny that's balanced nicely be the slight greenness. I do really enjoy this but I do feel like it is missing a bit of a kick. Layering Oyedo on this is very is a solid combo. Longevity is quite good & sillage is decent. This is a scent I would use at home or after a shower because it's a very pleasant & inoffensive scent.

SailorV

A fresh and clean orange blossom cologne kind of scent with a green and aromatic opening and a surprisingly persistent creamy base. It's 100% in the spring/summer daytime category for me, and it feels like something you would smell in a spa. Calm, relaxing, pure. It's a nicely done scent with some warmth underneath so it never feels sharp or think like some other fragrances from this category can be. Maybe because they used orange blossom instead of the usual neroli and didn't go overboard with the citruses? In my opinion it's perfectly unisex, very slightly feminine leaning.
I personally wouldn't wear this, it makes me feel kind of plain and misses the certain extra something I crave in a perfume. It's like the olfactory equivalent to a white t-shirt with a high neckline and no jewelry. Some women can pull it off, but I feel awkward and boring in stuff like that.
Nevertheless it all just boils down to personal taste. If you want a simple citrus aromatic floral cologne that doesn't smell like a hand wipe, Eau des Sens might be a great choice.

Rosemary14

Eau Des Sens is the fragrance that helped me figure out that I dislike juniper. Normally I’m a sucker for all things bright, fresh, and orange blossom but the juniper lost it for me.

ingeneuxo

-Feminine scent. Opens smelling citrus. Leans green.
-Middle notes reveal a nice orange blossom scent.
-An hour later the orange blossom has almost completely faded, leaving behind an airy green scent.
-Overall a dumb reach for hot summer days, if you can stand jasmine/orange blossom. (-)

*Update*
-wore this for a couple of days from an official sample.
-Eau des Sense comes across as a weird food-like scent...with whiffs of very green-leaning, photo-realistic orange flower.
-dries down soft and powdery with a hint of green.

Intrepid-Taste-1111

I got a sample of this with an order and it's so, so nice. it's like bitter orange soap suds, and the white flower petals of the orange blossom note is just lovely. anyone can wear this anytime and they'd smell so good. also, not for nothing, for an EDT I get great performance out of it. I don't have the urge to top up mid day, but if I did I could do so without worrying the sillage will invade someone else's personal space

thestranger

There’s a sharpness to this that makes me want to purchase it as a hand soap, but not a perfume. It’s fresh and pleasant, but I wouldn’t want to smell like it. Maybe it’s just too herbal for my own personal taste! I haven’t tried too many aromatic perfumes so that might be it.

I much preferred Oranzo by Sylvaine Delacourte.

mihais

The perfect flowery neroli smell. I'm a man and I find it perfectly unisex. Has good enough longevity and sillage for this scent profile. And it has more personality than say... neroli portofino.

Scent: 5/5
Projection: 4/5
Longevity: 4/5

RainbowGirl

This smells so fucking good! Strong likable green in the opening, then delicious bitter orange. Eventually the green fades, and the orange becomes less bitter. Smells more like a pretty sweet orange. I just love it.

finerthing_940

This is the perfect scent to wear right after a shower. It's so clean and fresh. I typically don't care for florals but Orange blossom has always been the exception.
For a toillete I get pretty good longevity.

Angekkuma

“like the orange trees in the backyard and it's easter and it just won't end…”
Quite bitter at first, like green leafy stems on a tree, but then the orange rushes in and takes over, giving it a tangy sweet freshness. Citrusy clean yet still full of vegetation from a garden. Orange trees blooming in spring all put in a bottle, so bright and uplifting I would even call this a solar scent. signature worthy for spring and summer.

eliblui

When I asked the sales staff for a soapy recommendation, this was the one he pointed out to me. Unfortunately, a very sharp citrus that leans towards a classic soap in my opinion. I could've done with significantly less citrus and more aldehyde/white florals. So far I have only tested it during a couple hot days and it just doesn't go well with my skin chemistry.

On a good note, it helps me go down the memory lane every time. Something about it reminds me of my childhood. The lemon cologne that my parents used to buy in the Turkish grocery store - the one they would greet our guests with - smelled just like Eau Des Sens...perhaps less sophisticated.

Perfume Beginners

I love orange blossom and neroli fragrances in summer and this is perfect for the weather. It is very similar to l'eau de neroli by Diptyque, especially in the beginning.

Rated_mo

A unisex leaning feminine...it has the extreme cleanliness of Killian bamboo harmony but with added citrus to tone the cleanliness a little bit
It's very clean but lacks the uplifting vibe of most designer citrus frags ...however it's better in extremely hot days

GinCatsBooks

Fresh, cottony and soapy sum up Eau Des Sens perfectly to me, its become a favourite scent which I love to pick up and spritz generously on warm summer mornings (though, I've not smelt a Diptyque I've not liked...yet...)

When sniffing the sprayer, I really was on the fence with this one, it smelt like a mixture of soap and hot ironing (that hot fabric smell) and I genuinely wasn't too sure if I'd actually enjoy it but regardless I tried it on my wrist, instantly a beautiful herbal orange musk hit me. During the course of that boiling hot day, all I could smell was this refreshing musk which created an aura around me and I knew I had to have a bottle!

The opening notes of bitter orange and orange blossom stay present throughout the development of the scent, juniper and angelica peak out to give some refeshing, herbal greenery to break up the honeyed florals and thick citric notes, once the green notes pop out, they stay firmly anchored and the overall citrus/herbal musk stays the same until the very end of the day when I shower. It lasts all day for me (i.e from 9:30am until I shower at 8pm) with a nice, aura-like silage.

Its office safe, its an amazing casual or formal scent and I think this would work beautifully even in the cooler months, its one of a few scents which makes me feel constantly clean and fresh all day, even when its hot and I will 100% be repurchasing this for summer when it runs out, beautiful!

Citrus orange white flowers... some juniper peeking through. Fresh not too sweet botanical. Cut oranges right off a tree.

The opening is rather sharp (bitter orange) but this gets better the longer it is on and I have a vague urge to just bathe in it it's so pleasant. Softer and more woody with age, but always the orange is there...

violacolors

Very sharp, soapy citrus.
Usually I'm not into citrus scents, but I always reach for this.
It's bright like golden sunshine, very elegant, and uplifts the mood.

I went to Diptyque for a hair perfume, and I tested Eau Rose, Doson, and this. At first I didn't like it because of the strong citrus opening and was more drawn to Eau Rose which was sweet and soft. But I got a sample and I was always using this scent! I would always reach for this for some reason. It has very sharp citrus opening and overall, very refreshing and clean. I like the dry down which smells like soft floral soap.

Generally it's a scent that makes me happy. I ended up getting a full bottle of the hair mist and used half way already. If I were to imagine a person expressed as this scent, she would be very logical, confident, and less emotional.

I sampled this years ago and remember being a bit overwhelmed by the initial spray but captivated by the dry down. Fast forward five years, and I smelled the same aroma while on a walk on a leafy trail by the river, after a late spring rain, after the sun had come back out. I was instantly reminded of this perfume and had to buy it. After first spraying, a floral citrus, nothing juicy here, balanced by the dry juniper. As it dries, it leaves a GORGEOUS green, almost peppery, citrus. Others have mentioned the Angelica and since I don’t know what that smells like on its own, I can’t speak to it, but now I’m eager to get a whiff of the essential oil. Diptyque has perfectly encapsulated the beauty of a late spring day - not in the garden, but in the wild, untamed vegetation bursting forth along a riverbank.

alphairone

I enjoy putting orange blossom water in my drinking water. Eau des Sens, especially its opening, evokes the taste of orange blossom in fragrant form, and it's exquisite.

There is a juicy, succulent sensation combined with the decadence of white florals that eventually yields to the more piquant facets of juniper berry in the heart. This is a lovely development that I haven't found in other orange blossom centered fragrances: celebrating the bitter qualities of all that is aromatic. Bitter and sweet choreographed in a sensuous dance. I start to get some Campari, some gin, some herbal elixir energy in the heart.

The green, vegetal musk of angelica (you haven't lived until you've smelled the essential oil of angelica root) really begins to surface a couple of hours in and really is in my opinion, steals the show in the dry down. The patchouli really is a modifier here and not muscling its way in, it's the angelica that seamlessly surfaces from the orange blossom leading role that escorts this beautiful scent into an alluring skin scent.

Being more a fan of the earlier releases from Diptyque, this is one of few recent frags in the oeurve that has thoroughly impressed me.

Gabriel.1440

Amazing and natural smelling. Considered by the mainstream as feminine but I don't mind. A perfect summer casual smart scent.

overtsaceie

Very fresh, like a botanical garden when raining. Not too florally that men can wear it

sejohnson77

I received this as a free sample yesterday from Diptyque and I absolutely love it! It's a very nice citrus floral.

huet82

I agree with the reviewer who mentioned the similarity to 4711. Sort of sickly floral, but add some extra citrus on top of that, and you've got this. Sample from Luckyscents; will definitely pass on buying this one.

Manya3

The first spritz is like ripping open a juicy, slightly underripe orange, and from then on orange blossom blooms and blooms...Aaaahhh perfect! A soft hug of a white floral, resolutely feminine in my perception.
I have yet to see how long it lasts, but I still smell it distinctly on my wrist an hour later, it's a bit sharper on my scarf.
It is the most realistic orange blossom I've come across so far. Much rounder and warmer than Serge Lutens that was mentioned in the other comments.
I was in Spain in spring once, and there were orange trees in bloom everywhere, the whole city smelled divine. I have finally found that exact scent !!
Update:
After a 2 hour walk in the spring time breeze, there's hardly any scent left on my scarf, and a very faint musky rose on my wrist. I wish this little gem was bright for longer...I don't know if I'll buy it now, I find it expensive if it needs to be reapplied every two hours.

miseremei

She is perfect! I bought the discovery set and was immediately drawn to this one. I think it will be a great spring and summer staple because it's not loud and doesn't have the intense car air freshener opening that a lot of other Diptyque fragrances seem to have. The opening is cool like mountain fresh air with the juniper. I love the subtle dry-down. It is remniscent of Fleurs de Oranger by Lutens, which is another favorite of mine. I also pick up a little bit of a rice milk scent for some reason that reminds me of a Mom Hug.

bananayoshimoto

Upon first sniff of this fragrance, all I smelled was the juniper which felt a bit flat and “grey” to me. Throughout the day, some whiffs of sweet orange blossom would waft up which were very lovely. After wearing it for a couple days, I found the juniper endearing and it made me think of a neroli martini. Now I don’t notice the juniper at all and it is just the pure bright white orange blossoms I grew up smelling in Southern California.

Compared to other orange blossom fragrances I have, I’d say it’s very similar to 4711 except it actually lasts on the skin. Much less complex and heady than Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger, and more crisp and linear than Jo Malone Orange Blossom.

EdS has surprisingly good longevity (around 8 hours) and is totally unisex.

Quixotic Blue

This is a lovely offering from Diptyque--the bitter orange melds effortlessly with the orange blossom so that it's not too brightly all-citrus nor too flowery. The juniper is there flirting at the edges, but you can barely notice it for the nice fresh clean feel of the fragrance. That's the patchouli making it a little soapy, but just barely. You can't help but feel uplifted wearing this. Reminds me a little of the Molton Brown bergamot/tangerine scents in their products, the softly scented dry-down that makes you feel clean and leaves you happy you put it on.

Now, if the longevity was only better, it would make it a permanent add to my collection. It lasted *maybe* a couple of hours. Sillage was moderate at first, but dried down to skin scent quickly. This might be better sprayed onto clothing to make it last longer throughout the day.

PhonePotato

Eau des Sens smells like walking into a plant conservatory- the smell of trapped warm humid air filled with tropical flowers, citrus fruits, photosynthesis, and composting leaves.

It may come off as “boring” to some but for those of us that know that smell and love it this fragrance is divine.

No other fragrance really smells like this. If this was done by another house they would be compelled to ruin it by adding nonsense notes like cotton candy, mojito, or leather for “complexity’s” sake.

fragrancemusing

I'm utterly enamoured with this fragrance. The opening is fresh, bright and citrusy without stepping into toilet cleaner territory. It's a crowd pleaser and I can totally see why it's one of the best selling fragrance of diptyque.
I initially assumed it has notes of jasmine but surprisingly there wasn't. I love the woody herbaceous note in the dry down, it smells like fresh incense. It last about 4-5 hours on me, it's the perfect perfume for hot & humid climate, spring/summer time.

As I am a big fan of woody herbaceous citrusy perfumes, I decided to layer both Diptyque EdS and Aesop Tacit together. They complement one another so well, EdS bringing a touch of feminine floral headiness and combine with Aesop fresh spicy invigorating woodiness.

marymag

As I found with many Diptyque fragrances, first impressions aren’t always definitive, and the more I smell this, the more I love it.

Clean orange blossom and bitter orange with a peppery edge that softens as it dries into the skin. Bright, simple, oddly comforting. It reminds of laundry drying on an summer day if you live near orange trees.

Also, smells just like the soap aisle at an organic store

gedlive

I was enjoying my favorite pine Fall Winer frag, Lauder for Men (vintage).
I went hunting for a Summertime pine frag, looking at Dior Granville, Creed Epicea, Blenhiem Buquet.
Then realized I have a great freshy with a conifir, juniper berries in this.

San_Kristiver

EdS opens with full, bitter-orange rind and pulp, and orange blossom - lacking the "effervescence" of more citrus-y colognes, and instead imparting a satisfying body which is elevated by juniper.

Over time, the fresh bitter-orange retreats and both dry and green herbal notes reveal themselves, framing the blossom and enveloping it. This lends a sense of contemplation, even a slight melancholy, to the perfume, in quiet contrast to the often easy-wearing, clean, even happy-go-lucky orange blossom motif.

It performs very well, for multiple hours and with moderate-leaning-strong silage.

My search for an orange blossom based perfume is over. EdS will always have a place in my fragrance wardrobe and I hope to never be without it.

furryfleaae

I’ve always been a fan of orange blossom and neroli.
This one starts off with an airy, relaxing scents of orange blossom and bitter orange.
After 15-20 mins or so, it starts to get heavier and smell like a shaving cream. Too cloying and stuffy.

Not offensive but not a like for me.
It’s somewhat heavier than most of the orange blossom/neroli scents out there.
It can induce a headache for some people. Try it before you buy.

Mahogany

Fresh citrus with a bite of bitter greens. Sens is definitely a fresh unisex which I think would be fantastic in the spring-summer warmer weather. On cooler days, it smells extra green. Definitely dry down to expensive soap, classy for sure. A like, not love, don't blind buy this one.

MineralDiva

I just received a sample of this in a recent Diptyque order. Upon first spray, it was immediately nostalgic and familiar. Definitely reminiscent of summers as a kid in the late 1960's and 1970's. It brought back family vacations and hotel swimming pools, picnics at the lake, amusement park rides, the smell of Sea&Ski suntan lotion...oh my gosh! THAT's what this reminds me of! Sea&Ski suntan lotion! And I say that in a pleasant way. It's not offensive, just clean and reminiscent of simple summer pleasures, when the only cares we had, were how long we could stay in the pool, and staying up to see the lightning bugs come out in the evenings. Vintage summer memories of days and folks gone by, delightfully captured in a bottle that brings past and present together again, if only for a few happily scented moments. Yes, this one makes me smile in all the most nostalgically wonderful ways. Airy, breezy, casual, comfortable and clean. I don't even mind the Sea&Ski suntan lotion similarity. For me, it's actually a secret selling point that makes the memory "magic" happen.

Casalis

I cant stand it! Im not usually a neroli fan, tho I do like Ateliers Grand Neroli (much better than this!) Too sharp & soapy on me. I never thought Id encounter a scrubber, but here we are. I got a 5 pack of purse size Diptique spray ons, I dont care for any of them, unfortunately. I dont get any warmth from any of them.

mirrorghost

in the beginning, the pure orange blossom smells lovely, along with some bitter orange and a bit of juniper. i am assuming this is more of a summery scent but i am trying it in the depths of winter and it's bringing a bit of the joy and warmth of summer on a cold evening. after a few minutes on the skin i get the patchouli too, but i'd say it's primarily orange blossom and juniper. light, fresh but then it gets kind of soapy. not sure why but i still like it but don't love it, as i prefer a woodier orange blossom/neroli.

cranky137

I am so glad I tried a sample first. This is an orange Blossom scent deluxe, very intoxicating, cologney feeling with headache inducing neroli/orange Blossom/shaving style.

Yes, it is fresh but somehow it managed to be cloteing at the same time.

Please try Before you buy!

Fragandalf

Very straight forward orange blossom scent. Sharp and green opening veils the sweeter and more floral middle section. Surprisingly strong for a fresh scent, 2 sprays max willbe sufficient for the whole day. I accidentally spray it on my jumper and i still can smell it a week later

JuliaQueen

This is the best perfume I've ever smelt. I have a lot of fragrances, most of them in the sweet orange/rose/patchouli/pink pepper/musk or coconut/caramel scents. This is completely different for me and yet I feel that this perfume is 100% me and I can't stop wearing it. Eau de sens makes you smell clean, expensive, mysterious and sophisticated. It's like an intoxicating luxury soap. Everywhere I go people ask me what I'm wearing. If you pair it with the body lotion you'll be feeling confident and in check all day. Can't recommend this enough and I'm buying the full size once I'm out of the 30ml limited edition.

atxwatch

Really a fantastic Neroli-centric scent. The opening is a tsunami of bitter orange and orange blossom. But as soon as that opening dies down, this fragrance settles into a stunning base of soft orange blossom, juniper and galbanum and the latter two notes in particular turn this scent into a quite masculine scent IMO. Sillage is soft, but longevity is quite good. I applied more than 10 hours ago and I can still smell it on me without having to strain. Very similar to Penhaligon's Castile but better longevity. To me, this is a buy for sure.

GoldIris

Amazing longevity and projection and love how the scent changes after time.

I don't know if I like this and it is driving me absolutely bonkers! I have nothing against it in theory - it's a bracing, soapy orange blossom cologne with strong bitter orange and juniper overtones, that still feels distinctly Diptyque-y. I was actually somewhat reminded of their Vinaigre de Toilette when I sprayed it on, and I love Vinaigre de Toilette. There's just something in Eau des Sens that sets my teeth on edge. I can't even pinpoint what it is exactly, and I can't decide if this means I dislike the fragrance, or if it perversely makes me enjoy it more. I've been trying to work this out for two weeks, but Eau des Sens is still a complete headscratcher for me. I'll probably come back to it this summer and try again, but in the meantime, I'm just confused.

The strangest part is that I can tell this is a very individual reaction, and that to most people Eau des Sens is probably pretty straightforward and inoffensive. Don't be put off by my reaction - I expect that if you typically like drier, less sweet takes on orange blossom, you'll easily be won over by this fragrance. Just goes to show how personal scent is, I suppose.

Cajou

In a matter of scent, this is what you can expect from a good cologne. Nothing complex or different. The orange blossom stands out but there also a very crispy juniper and a light earthy patchouli. Perfectly unissex. What I find amazing is the longevity! I sprayed it at 14h and could still smell it the next morning! This is impressive for a citrus floral, and Diptyque can do it!

If you want an orange blossom with great perfomance, that's it! Better applied with some distance. Still not sure if I'll get a full bottle because I wish it didn't have juniper berry, but still a remarkable perfume!

This stunning fragrance from Diptyque is surprisingly colorful with the liveliness of citron, the spontaneity of bluebells, and the happiness of orange blossom. It is clean and fresh with a slightly musky side. If you are not a fan of loud scents, give this one a shot – it is fantastic for any occasion. It smells refreshing, sexy, and clean, and is perfect for those hot summer days.

christopher.chase21

Blind buy for me as I "drop my knickers" for any orange blossom scent that I can find. I was not disappointed! I have the hand gel, EDT, and the hair mist. It’s beautiful from start to finish. I get a powdery creamy orange rind that smells earthy towards the end. Sillage is moderate on me with a longevity of 6 to 8 hours. A beautiful powdered orange TicTac. :) Can't wait to try the EDP!

LeFrank

Eau des Sens by Diptyque is an odd one on me. Though it's predominantly an earthy orange scent it somehow also smells distinctly like masa harina. It's not unpleasant, just strange. Makes me crave tamales.

genny17

After wearing my sample for a few days, I know I won't buy a bottle...it is a soapy fresh orange blossom, with a hint of spiciness, nice, but I find it honestly a bit linear, and almost boring..I like orange blossom, but not so much on its own , I like it mixed in with other notes..lEau des Sens is a skin scent almost, but lingers on nicely... a natural smelling orange blossom, but it almost has an undertone of a cleaning product to my nose...so, not for me...I find it more feminine than masculine too...it is more a spring and summer scent, a bit dry too..I don't know, I like it, but nothing more...the quality is there , and lovers of orange blossom might enjoy it,

Swedelish

I'm shocked to know this is an edt because of the amount of oil it leaves behind on my skin. It's more like a high quality edp. I've tried almost all from Diptyque and Eau Des Sens is the longest lasting and biggest projector. That's saying a lot coming from an orange blossom scent in edt concentration!

There is very little sweetness involved. The sweetness that does emerge in the base is an earthy sweetness that's soft and minimal. I didn't come to Eau Des Sens for sweetness though. Instead it satisfies my need for something fresh, twiggy and bitter, which it delivers in the opening. It's delightfully soapy clean, like an old-fashioned bar soap. There's orange rind and something piney like gin, adding to the "spikey, twiggy, fresh" appeal. The patchouli in this is perfection. It comes through in the drydown and by some acrobatic stunt displaces the piney gin with a smooth, earthy sweetness. I love fragrances that subtly change throughout their wear time. Eau Des Sens sort of "descends" itself from sharp, bitter, and bracing to smooth, clean and relaxing. I say this about several frags, but it remind me of being in a spa surrounded my essential oils. This is one of the very best for that.

I don't know how they made this clean orange blossom scent so enveloping! Maybe it's that polite patchouli holding everything together, causing it to last far beyond what my brain thinks it should. I love Diptyque as a house, but I've grown bored of many of their simple, yet beautiful creations. Eau Des Sens has single-handedly restored my curiosity for the brand and I'll be eagerly waiting to see what they come up with next!

Perfectly unisex by the way!

SheogorathWaldo

Soapy, bitter, and subtly sweet, Eau de Sens is out there for the true orange blossom lovers.

RoseSoul

I like it but it is an unisex fragrance for sure. I feel the citrusy & angelica very strong, and the Orange flower is not sweet at all. It remindes me about T.F Mandarino di Almafi. The performance is pretty weak, though...

forkingpaths

Light and fresh but not as feminine as you might think. This is not Fleurs d'Oranger, but it's not a sport cologne either, though I agree that it should be approached more as a cologne than a perfume.

Eau des Sens takes me back to the south of France, wild juniper growing out of the limestone, potted oranges by the doors.

Despite the lush notes it is surprisingly dry, much like the places its ingredients come from. When we see the orange trees and the grape orchards and the cypress and the ocean, we forget how arid the Mediterranean is.

Brownieshots

Sexy citrus bitterness in a bottle. Great stuff right here.

gedlive

I think this is a beautiful fresh fragrance with depth.

I think it will be a special fresh fragrance for the colder weather of Fall and Winter, because of the juniper berry and Angelica notes.

One of the female reviewers below, blind bought this and didn't like the strong juniper note.

That is one of the masculine aspects of the fragrance.
Some frags are gender neutral: there is nothing particularly feminine or masculine about it.

Eau Des Sens is not that way: It has feminine aspects and masculine aspects .

The florals here which are feminine, I have grown to enjoy and feel comfortable with as a guy, because they smell very natural. Sometimes florals can be made more girly, in a perfumy way.

johanJS

There is a review below that says eau des sens gives them “a bouquet of white flowers and the wind is hitting your nose with that scent kind of vibe” and they are exactly correct. It smell as if you’re standing a couple metres from someone holding a bouquet of white flowers on a breezy summer day, and you’re getting wafts of orange blossom whenever a warm wind gently blows. It's beautiful.

I find it is decently suitable for cold weather, even better in warm weather, and is perfect for humid/rainy days. Might I also add that it’s best sprayed at a distance (30cm+) or else I find it turns very sharp and screechy on me, and also is best on wet skin (after a hot shower or bath).

FatimaD

I find myself reaching for it more and more often since I bought it. I wasn’t sure in the beginning but now I know - this smells very nice and not offensive. The only complaint is that I can’t smell it on myself. Sometimes I catch it at night after shower when I sleep lol

Eun Seon

Before I found this perfume, i was not interested in spicy note at all. I always preferred only floral, feminine, animalic notes. After using this perfume for couple of days, I am fascinated in spicy notes, it makes unique charming scent on the skin.

I feel spicy orangeflower (linalool+geraniol)- and then spicy woody. It somewhat make me feel like my own skin scent.

silvia d

Perfect blend of delicate citruses and woodsy tones. I envision a golden haired woman in a shady garden enjoying a good book and a slice of torta caprese along with a small, icy glass of limoncello... under the balmy sun of Capri.

gabino1983

Beautiful floral fragrance that its a shame those first notes smelled urine like on my skin. Not sure if it was the orange blossom or the bitter orange, but it was unpleasant. Then it becomes nicer but I discovered that I enjoyed it more smelling it from the bottle than actually wearing it.This morning I waved goodbye to Eau des Sens and sold it to a female friend that is going to use it more than I do.I still have the hair mist just in case I miss it.Conclusion:

A little bit feminine for my cup of coffee.Good longevity.Performs great in warm weather.Florals,a bouquet of white flowers and the wind is hitting your nose with that scent kind of vibe.

scarlett90601

On my skin it's a super-masculine patchouli bomb. On my clothes it's a more delicate neroli scent that stays grounded thanks to the angelica and juniper, not too light or airy. On some (cooler) days it smells a bit sweeter. Love how multi-faceted it is! This fragrance never gets dull.

Nomen

I can only quote pgs, the reviewer below: "it smells a lot like Tom Ford's neroli Portofino mixed with 4711. But a long lasting version." And to paraphrase him: "Someone just had to say it!"
It really is the old school cologne type of scent, with a serious quality in terms of presence. (I'm talking about EDT here.)
It's the beautiful, classic combination of fresh, bitter citrus peel and its white, sun-bathed, fragrant, happy little flowers. On my skin, however, it turns into a simple, more feminine, but very common white bouquet. Now that I finally sprayed it on my fan fabric, I get the real scent! That perfect genderless, ageless, sophisticated cologne; old and modern at the same time! I also need to conclude that its ideal place is not human skin (not mine at least, even though it's very pleasant all the way, nevertheless; only dull). It belongs to sheets, handkerchiefs and well fans, obviously. If you're a fan of those. :)
Edit: it wears beautifully on my wrist now that it's 10-ish degrees C. It is the most realistic orange blossom from the very first spray I have ever encountered in a bottle.

Christineall

This is a beautiful orange blossom smell that upon myself is soapy and clean. I can wear this to work smelling fresh all day with out without offending others in the office. The longevity is more long lasting than most scents I currently own. Sens remains on my skin in a subtle way all day. Love it!!!!

Bubbles1964

I bought a sample awhile back and loved it so much that I immediately bought a FB. It's my favorite from Diptyque so far, and I've tried at least half a dozen.

I'm in love with the green angelica note in this scent, and the orange blossom and citrus. It's not simple even though there are apparently only a few ingredients.

I can't wait for warmer weather when I think this perfume will perform well. A light, fresh aromatic scent with a noticeable projection. 10 out of 10

Chrysolaga

I previously didn't like this because there seemed to be a strong powder smell, which almost always gives me a headache, but today, it seems softer with less powder element. Perhaps this is a warm weather fragrance because I seem to like it better in warmer weather. It's still not a love, however, because the powder element is head-ache inducing for me.

A bitter-orange tree blooming in the garden

I'm not familiar with Olivier Pescheux's works but this perfume has to be one of his best to date. It's simply superlative! The concept here was apparently to present a full bigarade-orange tree in a garden. And this presentation is pure genius.

Citruses are difficult to work with. They've been (over)used in modern perfumery for so long now that every facet has been discovered over time and it's incredibly difficult to get any more beyond a point. So lots of perfumers these days look to other ingredients to bring out deeper or hidden facets of citruses, while trying to steer away from cliched ideas. Also adding to their woes is the fact that citrus accords are usually very short lived, hence used almost exclusively as top-notes in perfumes. Mr. Pescheux tackles these issues rather skillfully with his intelligent choice of ingredients. It's rather simple. A big dose of floral Neroli & Orange Blossom - Bitter Orange for a full bouquet of citrus aromas blended beautifully with bright, peppery, bracing juniper berries - sweet, floral and green angelica - a woody, sweet, earthy patchouli accord. Given a full-wearing this is very evocative of a blooming orange tree in a garden. I can smell the green, bitter leaves, slightly-bitter but juicy fruit, the meditative, wispy, white flowers, the soft woody smell of the bark of the tree, the damp earth beneath it. It's quite an experience.

Highly recommended if you like citrus-aromatics but with woody/floral facets. I wear it by itself mostly, but sometimes I do like to layer it with some other linear fragrances for some extra zest. Like yesterday, I layered this over Tam Dao and it was glorious! Projects big and lasts a very long time on me too - which makes it even more interesting for a citrus fragrance. Top notch stuff!

Update: The beautifull florals are most noticable in the opening, where it may be a tad too feminine for me. The orange blossom dominance fades, in 15 min and becomes more balanced, with the great Angelica and juniper becoming more evident

I am bumping up my rating to 9/10.
Because this is so complex for a fresh Neroli fragrance. Each time I wear it now, I get some new nuance, the juniper, Angelica, sometimes more orange blosom, or the bitter orange; These ebb and flow.

This is a very uplifting high quality Neroli and Orange blosom fragrance. It is mostly alcohol distilled orange blosom, more floral. Today I picked up on the bitter citrus note that here is correctly listed as bitter orange, but according to Fragrantica the extract from the bitter orange fruit is often called Neroli. Neroli is most often derived from water distilled orange blossoms however.

I applied my Eau Des Sens this morning and the fresh and clean orange blosom was very uplifting. I also love earthy fragrances, so the complimentary notes of juniper berries and Angelica are right up my alley...
This is a great morning fragrance to start off your day, clean and optimistic. It's great this chilly December morning, but I was thinking I will get a bottle in early Spring when this will be even more fantastic.

It has a bit of orange peel, not too citrusy, but makes a nice fresh accord with the orange blossom. I think there may be some high quality Neroli here, as well as the orange blosom.

I can enjoy this all year round. Now I am expecting this to be my Summertime signature fragrance.
I have been looking for the ultimate fresh fragrance, and this may be it. The scent and quality are up there with TF Neroli Portafino, and MFK Petit Matin.
But when you consider this has greater longevity and cost value, Eau Des Sens is the winner.
I feel the same way about Creed's Royal Water, which you can find good discounts on, and is an extraordinary fresh fragrace, with a bit more going on, but is less effervescent.

Many Neroli cologns are more citrusy than Eau Des Sens. This is more floral than most fine Neroli frags, but is still close to fine Nerolis like TF Neroli Portafino. It doesn't get too feminine like MFK Aqua Universalis Forte.
This has great longevity, when these type of fragrances often do not.

The last reviewer nailed it perfectly, but its not for me. if anyone is interested, I have a full bottle for sale or swap.

One of the best scents I own! It does smell like a garden of orange trees thick with orange blossoms. I love the balanced construction of this fragrance.

Sillage and longevity are phenomenal. You leave a wake of its floral-citrus- slightly spicy fragrance when you use this.

Apply liberally. Its cologne -style approach keeps it light, bright and very unique. Get it! Get it!

Jude1991

Eau des Sens seems to be getting a lot of negative feedback here. I suppose it's not reinventing the wheel in terms of fresh/cologne style fragrances but there's no denying it's a very elegant composition.

For me it reminds me of handmade soap you would come across on the Amalfi Coast. Fresh, sweet, slightly savoury and quite unisex.

ralopa

Another Diptyque that you can (choose to) skip.

Not bad for a ambiance perfume, whereas for something you really wear it on? Just forget about it.

Quite simplistic and crisp. I have to admit it is adorable and very easy to digest (which means a bit dull) but I cannot see any interesting phase or evolution here and there, and what is more important is the same problem occurred in Oyedo, so I will not go through the details that I already mentioned again — just a VERY conventional scent (for a room spray) and nothing new really. A good thing is that Eau des Sens is not so synthetic as Oyedo, at least superficially.

If you have high hope based on the experiences from Philosykos, Tam Dao and Do Son etc, you may get disappointed this time.

no-fi

Eau Des Sens is a sensory revelation. It is fresh, light and uncomplicated, yet it is paradoxically deep, rich and multifaceted. And it is utterly gorgeous.

The beating heart of this exquisitely luxurious fragrance is a beautiful orange blossom note that registers as light, laundry clean and soapy. It is bolstered by intense bitter orange, herbal angelica, and peppery-sweet juniper. These notes lend a bracing depth and a subtle dash of spiciness to the clean orange blossom which, remarkably, lasts throughout the entire composition. I can't detect patchouli, although I suspect it is Olivier Pescheux's secret weapon here - somehow, he's managed to create a scent that never loses its top and middle notes, yet has extraordinary tenacity.

Eau Des Sens lasts for hours on my skin, with medium to soft projection for some eight hours on skin, and days of performance on fabric. The performance is stunning.

One of the best aspects of Eau Des Sens is how damned wearable it is. It's light enough to never intrude - even when sprayed liberally, as Pescheux intended - but persistent enough to last a full day, including after-work drinks and dinner. It's incredibly versatile, too - clean, soapy and pleasant enough to be an office scent, yet sensual, spicy and intriguing enough to be a date scent. To me, it's the ultimate 'dumb reach' fragrance, and for that reason alone, it has shot up to signature scent status.

Eau Des Sens truly is remarkable. I intend to stock up should it ever be reformulated or discontinued - something I never do, which should indicate just how much I love this stuff. Bravo, Mr Pescheux. You've created a true masterpiece.

smellhunt

In an olfactory world dominated by gourmands, fruity florals and heady orientals, Eau des Sens is for me an oasis.
Starts very sharply, green, almost bitter, but something like magic happens as it settles on skin and the body temperature rises: a creamy, fresh, "true" to the real flower, orange blossom scent surrounds me and later on, something like incense adds warmth and depth.
It is very long lasting on me, a couple of sprays are enough for more than 24h, it survives a shower.
Sillage is what I consider perfect: like an aura. This is a lot better when applied on skin, on clothes remains pretty much sharp green, without a lot of change.
Overall I truly enjoy wearing it and I plan to buy it again and again...
Highly recommended- give it at least a try!!!

Really nice eau de cologne style perfume.

I've tried a few of these edc styles, and apart from the obvious - 4711 - I've also tried Bottega Veneta's Knot and Dior's Escale a Portofino. Both are nice, the Dior more savoury/herbal and Knot more mainstream, slightly more pretty. (I also tried TF's Neroli Portofino but found it a bit too orangey somehow)

So to compare with the above I'd say Eau des Sens is smoother and more floral than Escale a Portofino and more unusual than Knot, but less complex than both of those. It's also as people below say - quite soapy and clean

It has the herby/citrus feel of classic eau de cologne, but also the lovely orange blossom/bitter orange remains floral and transparent in feel right into drydown.

The bitter orange is lovely, like a slightly less bitter idea of Jean Claude Elena's grapefruit in the Jardin series, yet still transparent and fresh.

It has an uplifting light orange mood - sunny, refreshing and light. Really ideal for summer.

If I had to choose from all the above though, I'd still go for Knot more often, it's more 'perfumy' where Eau des Sens is more natural - it depends on occasion and mood really, if it was a dressier summer occasion Knot's great, for daytime Eau des Sens is very pretty and natural.

I find the sillage moderate for this style of perfume, and longevity good
