Jany by Sora Dora is a fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Jany was launched in 2023. The nose behind this fragrance is Margaux Le Paih Guérin.

Once upon a time... A middle summer garden afternoun. The calm of a sunny nap. And the children’s snack. Jany. She’s getting busy in the kitchen, between sugar and flour. What she loves to prepare, above all other delicacies, is tarte tatin. The butter melts on the glass. She drops grains of brown sugar into it, in the silence of a fine, icy rain. Its scent swirls around the room, echoes to the veranda, travels to the path. Baked apples and cinnamon sticks fade into the exhalations of puff pastry. Then come caramel, almonds and vanilla, powerful aromas that linger into the evening.
Antoine’s daughter, Jany carries the fragrance of his recipes, cakes, madeleines and cookies. An original childhood pastry, Jany delivers the aromatic memories of all our unforgettable delicacies. Here’s to your emotions.

Salem scent witch

The apple pastry notes last about 5 minutes and then I get a strong cinnamon and synthetic vanilla. I agree with all of the reviews that say it smells like a candle or potpourri. The performance is average/weak on me. A couple of hours at best. This was so hyped on YouTube, don’t fall for it. Get a sample. I love a fall gourmand, IMO Angels Share is so much better and you can find it at Costco several times a year. Even Khamara smells better to me and preforms for twice as long.

Ayyyyyeoh

Unfortunately, I hate this. The baked goods note is way too realistic for me.

lulubell1639

Another over influenced perfume. I had high hopes for this one. This is OK at best. Nothing special about this one. I found this to be weak in performance and average in the scent. Save your money and go buy Alexandria Fragrances version off Angel Share called Brooklyn Fragrance Lover. Fantastic apple pie scent. Last forever and cost a fraction of the price.

Chessfragile

I can see how Bianco Latte fans would really enjoy this - sadly, for me it has the same synthetic candle-like quality that I can't get past. Similar buttery notes to Lush's Let The Good Times Roll, too.

astralmonad870

Unfortunately cinnamon is one note that never works for me in high quantities. It comes across as too dirty and masculine. That's why I had to sell my bottle of Kensington Amber by Penhaligon's, which is another photorealistic apple pie scent. This is nice, but not for me.

Lauren_Loves_Perfume88

I bought a sample of this. It smells like literal sweet baked apple pie, the sweet pastry note is dominant as is sweet baked apples. I love gourmand fragrances so this is right up my street. Its actually delicious and makes me crave apple pie with custard. I definitely need a full bottle of this!

fistdeepinfrosting

every so often I give this one a try, and it’s nice in that it reminds me of my mom because she loves fall and those cinnamon pinecone things. HOWEVER, it skates the line a little too far into potpourri territory for me to wear it often. I wish it was a little less fall candley , to me it’s basically a cinnamon bomb which can be a bit much. I rate her a ..for the right occasion fragrance. not fb worthy

vetiverry

A whole mood. A steaming, crust-cracked caramel apple pie on your favorite fall day, surrounded by your favorite people. Except for that I prefer Boucheron Alexandrie or Hermes Ambre Narguille, which are a bit drier and more restrained. This one is a little too fruity and sweet for me.

Snob Smells

Buttery flaky deliciousness warm pastries. Better than Khamra, Crumb Couture and Angel's Share.

Hear me out.... next time you fix yourself a coffee or have some tea on the stove.... wear this and grab your favorite blanket and a good book! It's a whole cozy yummy vibe!

lmnsvgz

Warm apple pie - very sweet, very spicy, but I doubt I would be able to wear this casually. Too realistic and overwhelming

alex2606

An amazing very sweet scent that can be worn only by a woman.I find it similar to Xerjoff Italica&Sugar kisses By Lorenzo Pazzaglia

confetti.mu

An expensive, beautiful, fragrance...

...for a candle in your home during the holidays.

Milk&Thyme

This is a very fun scent, it made me smile. Don't know about "candle" reviews, I often bake pies and cakes and cookies and don't find anything waxy with this fragrance. It's really delicious: all about baked, sweet apples and cinnamon, so I guess if you don't like that combo, don't try this one...
To me, Jany is really comforting and well done scent, mood lifter and a fun fragrance to have around. Fall and winter favorite, perfect for lazy Sundays or weekends spent with family and friends, outdoor or in the cozy kitchen.
I always enjoy in scents like this one, it's so wearable and warm, with a great and funny twist when thinking about perfumes and how to make another different and memorable one.
Your kids will love it too.

Msala140

Cinnamon apple pie pastry from McDonald’s but elevated . Very buttery, sweet and flaky. I get small hints of baked peach on the side with caramel drizzled all over the peach and apple pie pastry. It’s very decadent. I can see this being nauseating to me here in FL so it wouldn’t work out . I can see how this would be absolutely fantastic somewhere that experiences winter . It’s very gourmand ,but not totally edible

OTA Mom

Softly spiced Yankee candle

Raadyrihagen

I had so high expectations. Unfortunatly all I get is potpurri.. Maybe it needs to sit for a while? 🙃
Edit:
Love it! Edable Apple Baked Goods 😋

Trinidata

Very intense and pleasant, imo for some reason clearly masculine.

melleners

You really can smell the breadiness of the pastry in this. Cinnamon-y, apple-y, vanilla-y, almond-y, yum! If you like gourmands, get your nose on this. Similar to Angels' Share, but I don't get any booziness (notes seem to be correct).

anamawsity

On the initial spray, this smells exactly like a delicious apple pie. Unfortunately, that fades pretty quickly into super artificial cinnamon and the tiniest hint apple or peach. It does last quite a while though so that’s good! I don’t see any resemblance to SDJ ‘71 or Billie’s Eilish as neither of them have any fruitiness.

Mellerouge

To those afraid it smells like a candle… it does smell like a yankee candle…. AT FIRST. but then it does dry down into this caramelized apple pastry thing. It even has a touch of a savory smell in there. There is still a bit of that candle aspect but it’s not really noticeable in the dry down. For me at least.

dreamsis

This smells exactly like this fruity multicolored popcorn I loved from Kernels when I was a kid. Total heaven.😍

jessica_chinos

This is a good scent, but not as a perfume. I would say it suits better a candle, than a perfume. It does smell like tart tatin, but the first thing that came to mind when I smelled it was something closer to my childhood: Fruity Pebbles with milk. The cereal like pastry element, I just do not like. It gives me nausea.
I don't want to smell like Fruity Pebbles... But I quite understand the people that love this, I imagine it can be comforting and cozy.

mamiman

I don't get the pastry. All I get is an apple scented candle or an air freshener.

Burgundy Jayde

This is a FALL SCENT MASTERPIECE! I got the Dapper version as a sample. This is apple pie with a buttery creaminess to it like it has vanilla ice cream. It is a beast mode and is very strong. The sillage is outstanding. I dislike cinnamon in my perfume, however, I like this VERY MUCH juuuuuust not as a perfume on me so I gave it to my friend and she loves it. If you like apple pie gourmand this is up your alley. Get it. This is the smell of AMERICA.. apple pie!

clairenen

this is so beautiful i want to cry tears of joy for 10 hours

khamrah is CLOSE to this masterpiece but not all the way there. get that if you're broke like me

CoCo77

Jany (launched 2023) by Sora Dora is sweet, spicy, and flowery, a combination I love. Starts with cinnamon and apple, followed by almonds and apricot, then clean powdery musk—all with a through line of vanilla. Waited for the promised buttery pastry, to no avail; must be buried in the background. A dessert gourmand eau de parfum (also available in extrait) whose sweetness is offset with floral/woody osmanthus. For me, cost-prohibitive at $220 for 50ml.✿

Scent family: Fruity/Floral/Spicy Gourmand
Longevity on me: long-lasting

nichoa99

It does smell like an apple pie scented candle. But I think once it warms up on the skin it is like a very soft cinnamon apple. I like it. I love the inspiration and idea, but I feel like it is a bit simple, and lacking character or some oomph. I imagine taking a bite out of a bright red Macintosh apple. Tart and sweet and flowery. It's very pretty and not too heavy on the cinnamon.
I think the missing key is that flakey/buttery golden crust smell that you get in other pastry frags like Akro-Bake which is done so well. I need the pastry note to be stronger.

Verkins

Smells way better sprayed from the bottle than from a decant, but still it was a disappointment for me.
It smells like apple pie scented candle, has a distinctive waxy note. To me its not the "most photo realistic apple pastry smell ever" like many reviews suggest. Not worth the price.

santiniansia

This smells like straight up apple pastry. I love it, and it doesn't become cloying during hot summer days. But I'm not sure it's a stand out among all the gourmands I have. I'm going to get Leaves from Bath & Body Works to see if it scratches the same itch that Jany does.

Sabina8019

Starts beautifully with sweet pastry and apples, but then develops these weird, earthy undertones that niche houses feel the absolute need to add to their perfumes to make them more "special". Ugh....

mckfly24

This is "Leaves" from B&BW. Very Apple cinnamon potpourri vibes.

stylenurse

It smells like an Autumn day. You're sipping on a hot caramel apple spice drink from your favorite coffee shop. You then go into the cute store that sells Fall decorations and the whole place smells like apple cinnamon everything. Afterward, you light a spiced gourmand smelling candle and douse yourself in BBW Leaves body spray.

FragranceFable

Fable:
As you step onto the porch on a crisp autumn afternoon, a delightful aroma greets you. There, on the windowsill, is a freshly baked apricot and apple pie. Hints of cinnamon, almond and vanilla waft up from its golden crust, creating a mouthwatering scent that is the epitome of comfort food.
As you gaze out onto the garden, the fragrant scents of nature add to this olfactory delight. The ripe smell of plum trees mingles with the sweetly fragrant osmanthus, creating a symphony of scents that is both comforting and invigorating.

Rating:
Jany Sora Dora is an exceptionally delightful gourmand fragrance. Its notes are conjuring up images of home-baked goods and lush gardens. Despite its edible notes, this fragrance boasts an exceptional longevity and sillage that really is surprising for a gourmand fragrance. The scent really is room-filling and easily lasts a whole day.

I don't get the same notes that everyone else is smelling...It's sour cherry to me that's about it. Just a better version of tom fords lost cherry

beata4u2

Jany takes me straight back to my childhood, when on nice sunny autumnal Saturday afternoons, my mum would bake an apple pie, and the sweet aroma of baked apples, short crust pastry, cinnamon and vanilla was slowly filling the entire house. At some point the whole family would eventually end up in the kitchen, hungry and eager to get the first bite as soon as the cake was out of the oven. Then my mum, once the cake was baked, but still hot would reluctantly slice the cake and give everybody a piece, jokingly complaining how we ruined her cake. For me it's a nostalgic scent, which brings these lovely memories of a time bygone decades ago, easier life in the eighties and nineties, being carefree and happy.
The main notes I distinguish are: baked apple, baked pastry, cinnamon, vanilla. The only thing missing is the hot steam coming of the actual piece of cake placed on a plate. I would say the scent is gourmand but not really sweet, and I believe that quality is achieved by that baked apple note, which gives a tiny bit of tartness, citrussy aspect
I did wonder if the scent wasn't almost too apple pie realistic, but then concluded it's a 'me scent', an edible cloud in which I can immerse myself.

Olgita

Jany is a very peculiar fragrance. Grudging from the notes, one would think that this would be extremely gourmand, and perhaps it is to some, but not to me. I smell strong nutty notes, puffy pastry and some cinnamon, but it somehow it is not all that gourmand. I don’t get apricot, backed apple or caramel, but I do get a slight play dough nuance instead. Very peculiar and not a safe blind buy at all.

amanda0727

This needs some serious time to sit. I've had my bottle for almost 2 months now. In the beginning, I totally got the candle reference. But after sitting, the candle vibe has disappeared and now smells more perfume-y. The opening, I get a blast of apple pie filling like aroma, but there is a dough-y like texture instead of a fluffy pastry crust. It's like if you stuff a mochi dough with apple pie filling, weird but that is what I get. Cinnamon is listed in the top notes, but I barely smell it, which is good because I do not like cinnamon in my perfume. This gourmandy smell lasts a couple hours, then in the deep dry down it really smells to me like Angel Share without the booziness.

Allisonmsmith22

This is extremely gourmand. Not going to be for everybody...I wear gourmands but I do want them to smell like an actual perfume. This is just straight up candle territory.!

ThornyComplexRose

I'm not sure why anyone would compare this to Baklava Royale...they are not even in the same lane ... Gossip Night ...distant cousin with the peach note...but still a distant cousin.

When I 1st sprayed this I did not get the dessert / gourmand experience right away. To me it was very fruit forward, with the apricot and a floral in the background. Then I let it sit a few days... it has gotten way stronger, and now it smells extremely dessert/gourmand. The apricot is very prominent, but I can also smell the apple as well. The cinnamon is not very strong either, being more of a complimenting background note. At 1st I could only smell the puff pastry note on paper but not on myself. Now after letting the bottle macerate a few days, I can smell the puff pastry note on myself as well.

This is VERY gourmand...like if you don't like sweet fragrances, this is def not for you. I feel this will get sweeter and stronger the longer it sits, which this is from the start already a very sweet fragrance. Also, a little goes a long way. Both times I wore it, I did 3 sprays on my shirt, and the projection with the sweetness was almost too much. It not only projects, but stays strong and lasts well over 24 hrs. Overall, this gives a very fruity/dessert...the sweetness is reminiscent of a sugary apple/apricot pie filling.

I have paired this with Accident À La Vanille - Madeleine de Proust which has a strong peach and apricot note. The two paired so well that I just got a really strong peach/apricot dessert scent. Then I paired it with Chanceux Vanilla Matrimony and that was a perfect pairing. The Vanilla Matrimony gives it that extra cakey/dessert note that I felt it was missing.

Overall I really am happy with this purchase. The bottle is very chique with that frosted glass and marble cap... and though it has a very high price tag for just 50 mils, the quality is def there, and as mentioned since a little goes a long way, I think this fragrance will last a long time.

leeyah87

Jany is very peachy/apricot-y. I was expecting apple pie or some kind of apple baked good based on the reviews, but no. This smells like a holiday themed peach and apricot potpourri, air freshener, or candle.

perfume_angel

Super delicious and gourmand😍

This actually smells like delicious baked apple pie in the opening. Like I can actually smell a photorealistic delicious sugary apple sprinkled with sugared cinnamon powder. It smells VERY gourmand at first spritz, but as it settles it becomes more fresh and elegant. It is edible throughout the entire wear, but only the first spritz is a photorealistic apple pie. Imagine baking an apple pie with cinnamon sugar mixed into the filling, and pouring an ooey gooey caramel on-top when it comes out of the oven and enjoying it with some vanilla bean ice cream. It’s sooo cozy and feels like a hug. The dry down is a fruity base of warm sweet apricot and vanilla. It’s such a perfect holiday scent 🍎🥧🍦🎄

Also, I will definitely be purchasing a full bottle once I finish my sample because WOW I need to have this within my reach at all times❤️

My absolute favourite Sora Dora! I would say it is a safe blind buy IF you are a gourmand lover like me

Bottle: 10/10 (love the new white ones so elegant)

Scent: 10/10 (perfect warm caramel apple pie)

Longevity: 8/10 (around 6 hours wear)

Sillage: 7/10 (not too overwhelming but it definitely has a good presence)

alit

Oh I love this, warm buttery apple pie goodness and vanilla with thin delicate Apple Brandy Killian-like booziness. The cinnamon is not too strong and burning the nostrils, it's a gourmand perfection, bit still perfume-y, not smelling too literal like a food. I can feel the osmanthus in the dry down and it's giving this leathery depth that steers it away from being too fruity and pastry-like. Leans feminine

Oskispeter

A very nice scent that leans in the gourmand direction without smelling too much like food or a pastry. The apple scent in this is sweat but not too much. It lasts forever. Jany is a great fragrance for the holidays and if you wanna stand out at the Christmas party this is it. All of Sora Dora scents are kind of complex. If you have not yet got your nose on any of them, do it now. You wont be disappointed. A fragrance that brings out memories.

Carolynbk

I don’t usually like guirnalda but this is so decadent and lasts forever!

PerfumePixie87

Cinnamon sprinkled baked apples and biscuity goodness! Infinitely delicious. Like Jo Malone’s Ginger Biscuit on acid. This buttery pastry accord is nostalgic and full of innocence. If you want to smell sweet and delectable then this is for you, a must try for all gourmand lovers

Zethre

Sweet, biscuity goodness, hints of golden sugar and spice and vanilla. Good sillage

Edited to add, I realised it smells almost exactly the same as Demeter Library of Fragrance Gingerbread, which is considerably cheaper! Sillage is similar.

Charmedbymeghan

To me this does not smell like an apple pastry, but it more resembles pink cereal milk left after finishing a bowl of Lucky Charms. Pretty much exactly the same scent. This is delicious and well-done for how cheap the scent profile smells. Very nostalgic. Creamy, lactonic. Has a little bit of that almost bready-quality from the regular non-marshmallow cereal bits. But also that same non-descipt type of fruity sweetness from the marshmallows - the fruit smells more man-made fruit flavor, than actual nature-made... I have to look for the baked apple, but when I do I find it. The cinnamon is not strong and I wouldn't know it was there if it wasn't listed. This is not just another apple+cinnamon with the same DNA as Angel's Share or similar.
This is phenomenal! Smells super unique and even though I am using words like "cheap" and "man-made" - I do not mean that as a negative because this is amazing! If you are a gourmand lover - this is a winner! And glad to have it in my collection. Sora Dora for the win again! I only wish a 50ml bottle didn't cost in excess of $200.

marilyn62

Oh my goodness, how I adore this perfume!! Jany smells like the most delicious apple pie/pastry with a little sweet cinnamon sprinkled on top! Very realistic gourmand and so cozy for cooler weather. This was my Thanksgiving Day scent and it was perfect!! I had apple crumble pie for dessert that night and smelled the pie and then smelled Jany on my shirt and it was pretty spot on. Soooo delicious!!! The bottle is absolutely stunning also with the white marbled cap and the frosted glass. So elegant. I highly recommend Jany for those of you that love your realistic smelling gourmands!!

squishfish

Holiday season in a bottle, very delicious and more edible gourmand. I can’t imagine it being for everyone as it’s quite foodie but I love it. Lots of cinnamon, burnt sugar apple vibe with puff pastry. It’s a little nutty. I am glad I don’t get the candle reference like some comments below, it smells delicious on my skin and more like caramel apple.

natihalm

Ultra sweet realistic cheap apple pie scent, It very much smells like a Christmas candle to me - it even has a waxy quality to it! The sillage and longevity are extremely strong though, I only slightly opened the cap of my decant and I could smell the fragrance on my hands for hours after. This is in fact very gourmand so if you're a die hard gourmand lover you might like this.

LiveLaughPerfume

This is a nice apple cinnamon pie fragrance similar to what you would find an apple cinnamon candle to smell like. It’s lovely and gourmand but to me isn’t realistic gourmand like a pie coming out the oven like many people are saying it is but more of a “burning an apple and cinnamon Yankee candle at Christmas time” type of apple pie smell.
It’s nice, homey and cozy but I’m not sure FB worthy or blind buy safe. Will have to sample la danza delle libellule before deciding which is the better apple pie scent

Nessers

Jany is a great fragrance for the holidays. When you think of the holidays, obviously Thanksgiving and Christmas come to mind first. Sometimes you are in the mood for something sweet. This isn't going to be attracting anybody, but sometimes that doesn't matter. Sometimes a fragrance is for you and for you only. It smells exactly like tarte tartan or apple pie. It does not smell like an apple bread or cinnamon bread because the cinnamon is kind of in the background instead of in the forefront. It's more about the bread aspect and the Apple/ fruits than anything else. It's very linear. There is no story to unfold or story to tell. This is apple pie. If that's what you want then this is the fragrance for that. Plain and simple. Excellent quality. Smells very natural. Nothing about it is artificial. It smells like you got the pastry from a high-end bakery. Yes there is a difference. If you have found a high-end bakery that you purchased from, you absolutely know the difference. I say this because this does not smell like anything you purchase from Walmart, Costco etc. This is a dessert that has high quality ingredients in it. Nothing else to add. It will satisfy your gourmand needs for sure. It will also satisfy your niche itch for some of you. This is much better than Mallow in my opinion just because the floral aspect is not present in Jany and therefore lets the fragrance sing in all of its glory of sweetness.

blondeamber

I don’t really like the opening because it smells popcorny. After a few minutes it starts to smell smoother and like amaretti biscuits. Looking at the notes that makes sense, but I also get the apple pie sometimes. I probably wouldn’t mind smelling this on someone else, but as others have mentioned it is way too foody for me too.

Vannamae__

A very nice pleasing apple pie like smell, reminds me of the holidays but it’s too foody for me to want to wear more than just as a novelty from time to time. Reminds me too much of a candle that I would probably buy but as a perfume it’s just not my style. Projection is decent for a few hours then becomes a skin scent. Lasts forever on clothes. A safe blind buy if you’re into foody gourmands.

Acarin

Opens up with a delicious baked apple pie, but the opening doesn’t last and there’s no apple in the dry down at all.

To my nose it dries down very similar to Accident a la Vanille, very thick caramel with a bit of nuts.

Opening is beautiful, but it fades quickly and the dry down is quite cloying.

I love gourmands, but this one is a bit too thick for my liking.

Millapetrovich

The most delicious apple pie scent! This is not Angels Share or La Danza delle Libellule.
Jany is her own thing. Jany is an apple pie coming out of the oven, you can smell the delicious buttery pastry, the caramelized apples on top and cinnamon powder being sprinkled. All very well balanced, not overly sweet or spicy. A true gourmand that will be perfect during colder days.

If you’re a gourmand lover, this is for you. If you don’t like “foody gourmands”, not a safe blind buy.

Performance is also amazing, I can get up to 10 hours on my skin!
