Review of Lanvin L'Homme Sport by Lanvin

Lanvin L'Homme Sport, introduced on the market in the 2009 (lot of time after its older appreciated brother Lanvin L'Homme) is a fragrance rich of power, power of refreshment and vitality. It owns that fizzy peppery blue (citrus-lavender) vaguely minty or ozonic sporty vibe that the more metallic, assertive and gentlemanly Lanvin L'Homme basically used to lack. Yes this is a simple, fresh and slighly exotic accord (ideal for hot climates) with several stand out notes as lavender, pepper and petit-grain. The latters smell soon heady and more relevant over the yet present citrus. The former are subdued (or better less relevant on this phase) in comparison...

Review of Les Eaux de l'Est : Buveur de Vent by Liquides Imaginaires

Incense, quality cedar and leather were the first notes I got with this one. There are a few spices involved with this fragrance as well. Seems to have that Tauer's Lonesome Rider leather in this. Nice, even bottle worthy IMO. 7.5/10

Review of Deified Tony Iommi by Xerjoff

Just buy it, the apple and cinnamon intro to this fragrance is sooooo enjoyable (if you are into fruity fragrances that is), I was thinking it was cherry till I looked at the notes... The leather comes in later on, but its a nice escape from the standard Monkey Special Iommi. I'd have loved to get the special edition signed version, but 650 smackers, seemed a bit too much for me & it was already sold out. This will rock in the summer.

Review of Nébuleuse de L'abeille by Chouette Vierge Parfumée

Chouette Vierge Parfumée Nébuleuse de L'abeille Opening: **Zoologist Bee:** Initially emits a stinky slighly , salty scent. The honey note is faint with a fresh ginger hint. **Nébuleuse de L'abeille:** Sweet, cheesy (like royal jelly), with a more pronounced honey note and a hint of alcohol. **At the 5-minute after:** **Zoologist Bee:** The stinky slighly and salty notes become more defined. A light honey scent emerges, accompanied by a fresh, woody green note. **Nébuleuse de L'abeille:** The scent becomes clearer. The sweet honey wine note is more intoxicating. No sourness or saltiness. Slightly cheesy smell like royal jelly. **At the...

Review of Acqua Colonia Lemon & Ginger by 4711

Yes, it does resemble lemon and ginger but it's too bitter for me to want to wear. Maybe it is appealing if you are looking for a realistic representation of the notes but I want to smell nice, not like I just prepped food or made a cocktail for somebody. Could be fun and interesting as a layering scent but it's too simple on its own. Performance is below average with a light projection and a few hours of longevity.

Review of Chouette Vierge No. 5 by Chouette Vierge Parfumée

### Initial Spray with opening: Berry fruits, red raspberries, with a slight tartness of blackcurrant. Fresh and vibrant. A slight hint of astringency. The top notes are juicy, sweet, and delicate. ### 5-10 minutes: The sweetness of the fruit diminishes, and the astringency of green tea intensifies. There's a faint hint of jasmine. However, the dominant note remains fruity tea. ### 15-20 minutes: The astringent note of green tea becomes more pronounced, complemented by a clean musk. The sweetness fades quickly but maintains a stable base. The fruitiness retains a light, slightly tart raspberry note. ### Overall Scent: The scent is airy yet...

Review of Chouette Vierge No. 4 by Chouette Vierge Parfumée

Balsam resin A touch of warm sweetness from amber and rum Green violet leaves and fresh wood Leather Gentle sweetness (possibly from tonka bean) A hint of betel nut, a light betel aroma Key scent combination: the greenness of violet leaves and wood, the pungency of balsam resin, the richness and darkness of leather, and the sweetness of tonka bean. Overall: fragrant, sweet, and the balsam resin gives a slightly vintage feel. The scent is thick, dark, and rich. Moderate projection and long-lasting. Imagery: fresh A95 gasoline smelled from the tank, but more fragrant. The gasoline of modernity The rum of luxury The betel nut aroma of...

ketak grass

Ketak is a grass which is dried and used for woven goods such as baskets originating from the island of Lombok, Indonesia. This material smells amazing--it is intensely dark and smells of phenolic, dry, ancient wood. It's much more animalic than vetiver but less spicy than cypriol. Despite much searching I have found no extraction of this material or useful synonym for it. Occasionally it is referred to as "rattan" and I'm not positive, but I believe rattan to be an entirely different plant and ketak is simply referred to as "rattan" because the two plants are both used for weaving. The island of lombok seems mostly disconnected from the english speaking...

Do you feel your lineage affects your preferences?

Most of us are European Mutts in some way or another. I am French and German, with mainly French ancestry. A French surgeon came to American and that's how my people came over here. Do you feel your DNA or lineage take part in your preferences? Do you feel DNA remembers or do you feel that the smells you tend to gravitate to is totally learned? I feel that preferences for one thing or another is a learned behavior but I'm not totally ruling out DNA programming. I mean, if you took a middle eastern man, move him here, never to return and never exposing offspring to Aoud, do you feel a future generation male would gravitate towards Oud based on genetics or...

Discoloration issue in gel based items (shampoos and shower gels) from fragrance ingredients

Hi all, Have been recently developing a fragrance for transparent / clear shampoo and shower gels. Once the fragrance was applied to the shampoo and shower gel bases, during initial days it remained in clear transparent form. But within few weeks (4 weeks tentatively) it tuned slightly yelllowish in color. Using the method of elimination, we figured out that fragrance was the reason for the discoloration. Thus a insight on fragrance ingredients which could lead to discoloration of cosmetic products would be highly appreciated. To my understanding though I found out few ingredients which could lead to discoloration , namely, Vanillin, Coumarin, Indole, MA,...

powdery/airy cashmeran, how to?!

today i found myself in the silage of cashmeran.. but it was powdery and airy, still strong though! when i sample 100% cashmeran i get two parts, the deep base and the spicy "fizzle." what i experienced today was mostly that spice and none of the heavy base. it was like a light gauze fabric. another analogy would be if cashmeran is a deep red, this was a like white was mixed in and its now a beautiful pink is it just a really low dilution or are their other ingredients that can modify it to get the effect i am after? a few weeks ago i had the same thing happen to me at a show. i found myself in this cloud of iso e and a sweet patchouli/lavender. ...

Need help with my 80s scent

So I've inadvertently discovered the secret of every 80s splash on scent ever created and I need your help with some ideas to finish it off. I like the smell of neroli but for some reason, I associate the smell with toilet fresheners (no idea why). So I tried to dirty up the neroli with a bit of patchouli..too dirty, so I wanted to add a bit of sweetness with some rose. I know rose goes well with violet, so in that went too. Boom, literally every powdery 80s male splash on fragrance you can think of! Think Brut - that slightly green, atomic powdery fragrance that all 80s men's splash on fragrances seemed to smell like. So just for fun, I leaned in to...
